musso_kn
I think the only cover that Green Day ever done that isn't superior to the original is "Tired of Waiting for You" Kinks version is fantastic I disagree. Their cover of I Fought The Law is good, but not as good as The Clash's version (which I understand isn't the original either! )

Sarcasm
I prefer the GD version of I Fought the Law simply because I like the production value in it. It's the same with for example Behind Blue Eyes. The Who version is crappy simply because it's recorded a long-ass time ago, and the Limp Bizkit or whoever covered it and made it famous again, did it only like 10 years ago, and made it sound better. joeysturkeyhead
Is it wrong that I like Green Day's version of A Quick One While He's Away better than the Who's original version?
Sarcasm
Is it wrong that I like Green Day's version of A Quick One While He's Away better than the Who's original version?Wouldn't say so. I agree, to a certain extent. I mostly listen to the version of the song that has the best production, as I said in the post above.
gdpony
I don't like Tre at all. Dos is my favorite. Uno is ok.

Hermione
I think the only cover that Green Day ever done that isn't superior to the original is "Tired of Waiting for You" I don't agree that all the others are superior to the original (doesn't really matter if they're superior anyway, I just like it when they put a new spin on a song in their own style), but I agree that isn't a great cover. They went far too safe with it, stuck too much to the original version. It's quite an early on one though which explains that I suppose. I think they've got better and better at doing covers as time's gone on.
musso_kn
It wasn't because it didn't fit in the storyline The storyline is so vague I'm sure they'd find a way to make it fit
Mandy_PunkRock
I think that they should play Last Ride In live, a lot of people hate it, but i like it, it has a bit of surf ambiance that i like. Hell yeah! I just don't understand all the hate for this song. I love it! It's so relaxing and has such a great atmosphere
LazyPhil
agreed! it's still one my fave gd songs. as for it not fitting in with the story, isn't it in the ai musical or something? Indeed! but they also added some songs from 21st CB so they just fit them in the storyline of the musical.
EggMong
I don't know how unpopular this is but Worry Rock, Sex, Drugs & Violence and Jinx/Haushinka (listening as one song) are some of my very favorite Green Day songs. I wish they'd play some of the songs from Nimrod like Worry Rock, Jinx, Haushinka, Uptight and Reject, etc live more often (or at all)!
American_edot
21st CBD is a good album however it's better live
musso_kn
21st CBD is a good album however it's better live This. Case in point: know your enemy. The studio version is nice enough, but it can feel a little too polished. There's a lot more aggression and force in a concert setting.
That Punk Kid.
I think Paper Lanterns would work well as a song in the American Idiot Musical. (I'm seeing the show for the first time tomorrow too)
musso_kn
I really have to admit, even though I experience great pleasure in bashing Green Day on this thread (which I think has the greatest concept on here) , I realised today that I just want to beat the living shit out of someone who just doesn't like them, even if they're being completely reasonable, and especially if I get on with that particular individual anyway. Yeah, I know, it's irrational.

HolyHandGrenade
Favorite Son is one of my favorite Green Day songs. It was one of the first Green Day songs I heard, too. Where did you hear it? Eva
Where did you hear it? It's not exactly a hit, in fact, I don't know if it has EVER been played on a radio station! My step-brother was a huge Green Day fan. He thought it would be a great idea to influence my young, seven year old musical interests. It turned out pretty well, I think. stories and songs
Hmm... Brutal Love ain't as much of a rip off of Bring It Home To Me as people make it out to be. There are similarities, but only in certain places, and it's not really fully sustained. The Foxboro Hottubs are ok, but The Network are light years better. I think it is appropriate to say that I actually like 21 guns, even if it does feel it was 'written for radioplay'. I hate the Last of the American girls video. It's just silly. The song itself is alright, but there are many, many better ones on 21st century breakdown. Warning is not their most underrated album. 21st century... is. Agree with everything I quoted! Unpopular opinion: I think Fuck Time is a catchy song, but I HATE IT as a Green Day song. Absolutely hate it.
