Unpopular Green Day Opinions

Green Day is still a punk band.

Green Day isn't a punk band.

^Both of these opinions are equally unpopular, I would say.

Yeah. My opinion is the more middle ground, Green Day are rooted in punk.

Green Day in 2012 need a clear mission statement and direction for whenever they step into the studio, because when they "just jam and see what happens", it doesn't work.

But they've done this on every single record?

I actually think the trilogy albums are my top three favorite green day albums. I like nightlife, kye, and horshors and handgrenades. Dookie has some filler on it. Only half the album is good. But the good half is amazing.

They're a hardcore thrash indie band. Fuck you.

Fuckin' metal as fuck. Billie Joe eats live goat heads. True story. (If you get that reference, I love you).

I think you're missing the point m8

The point is that piano makes rock song more boring but then if you add a strong guitars and drums you could make a hit like Boulevard of Broken Dreams

No, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown were very clear concept albums with characters and a loose thread of a story that was meant to send a super-punk political statement. They made a point of stepping away from "concept", and that made them lose their way IMO

Because no song with piano can ever be powerful or be a hit okay.

No they didn't, and actually that part answers and part segues in to my own unpopular opinion very nicely:

I still love the band, and the album is good, but nowhere near the same quality. Butch Vigg is a bad match for them. Rob Carvallo all the way

21st Century Breakdown is the only album that wasn't a product of random jams, it was clear cut and calculated as an attempt to top American Idiot in the same vein. American Idiot was, by all intents an purposes, and accident like their other albums.

The more Green Day songs you hate, the more of a badass you are to everyone else in the fanbase. For example, from Green Day's 200+ song catalog, I only like about 4 songs, and they're all off of the 1,000 Hours EP.

Very curious to hear what you think is a special album then.

it could be but we're talking about a Green Day song, I know a lot of people that don't like 21st Century Breakdown because it wasn't like other albums it was slower and I think it was the saddesr Green Day albums only because the piano didn't gave songs power, Brutal Love is a good example of a powerful song with a happy piano sound

Please tell me that I'm not the only one that gets insanely confused when people have the need to abbreviate every single song that is over one word long. It takes me about ten hours to work out what they're on about. Please people, BOBD is the only one I can tolerate. After that :shok:

Actually I agree with that. "Green Day" is a stupid band name. But then again, I think a lot of bands have stupid band names, even the ones I love.

But Brutal Love is more depressing than anything on 21stCB.
