I think Rotting is one hell of a great fucking song.

I like Billie's voice in that song ! It's different, in my opinion.

Underatted song on Shenanigans ...

I would like to hear this song live.

Dos is my favorite out of the trilogy

Warning is my favorite album

I wish mike would sing lead in an entire song on a studio album

Even if i dont like it, i enjoy seeing GD trying new things with their music

I dont care for the song American Idiot

I never skip Give Me Novacaine or Macys Day Parade

Dry Ice and 16 are one of my favorites

I think that they should play Last Ride In live, a lot of people hate it, but i like it, it has a bit of surf ambiance that i like.

I don't know how anyone could hate Last Ride. Maybe it's just because I'm just a sunny day kind of guy but I love the vibe of that song. It's cool to just sit back and relax to it on a summer evening as the sun goes down and it starts to get cooler.

Hmm...

Brutal Love ain't as much of a rip off of Bring It Home To Me as people make it out to be. There are similarities, but only in certain places, and it's not really fully sustained.

The Foxboro Hottubs are ok, but The Network are light years better.

Amy is the worst ballad type song they've ever recorded - and they've written some absolutely gorgeous ballads. This one, however, is dull and the lyrics during the chorus are poor.

I think it is appropriate to say that I actually like 21 guns, even if it does feel it was 'written for radioplay'.

I hate the Last of the American girls video. It's just silly. The song itself is alright, but there are many, many better ones on 21st century breakdown.

Warning is not their most underrated album. 21st century... is.

.

If that was true they wouldn't have had to clear it with Cooke's estate...

Brutal Love is a rip from Bring It On Home it's ok to admit it not a big deal to admit Billie had influences

I agree completely. Aside from some melody creep ins here an there the songs are very, very different. Crediting Sam Cooke is obviously a safety net, the melodies are similar enough, but a complete through and through rip off? Absolutely not.

How are they are very very different music wise?

Lyrics wise yes

Vocal wise none

Guitar wise none til the end

Well for one the original Sam Cooke song has very little discernible guitar, the string arrangements do not resemble each other, the harmonies are different, and the arrangements are different. That leaves the tempo and the vocal melody. And even then the vocal melody is significantly altered in "Brutal Love"; the verse melodies are shared but as soon as the verse bridges into the choruses the songs change completely. The guitar solo does play the original melody, but once again it only follows the lead-in melody of Cooke's tune, after it follows a different "tail-end," so to speak.

Their live sound was not very good back when they performed as a three piece band. I attended a number of concerts prior to the "modern era" (which I consider to be the AI era and beyond). Sometimes the sound could be pretty muddy, and even when you listen to clear soundboard recordings, Billie's vocals could be inconsistent and the backing vocals and instrumentation could be choppy. I know it sounds sacriligeous to say so. However, I remember being blown away by how much their sound had improved after AI when they added the Jasons, Ronnie, and Jeff. I think the backing musicians helped add a lot of depth and freed up Billie to focus more on his vocals. Also, the mixing/ sound technology has likely greatly improved over the years, and this has probably made a major difference. Lastly, I'm sure they've simply improved as musicians over time. It's probably not very popular to say so, but as much as I enjoyed their shows in the early days, sometimes the sound was a dissapointment. This is no longer the case as they now seem to always sound phenomenal live.

¡DOS! would be a perfect record for me, however it has Amy at the end.... I don't hate that song, but it doesn't deserve to be considered as a part of a record. Maybe just a b-side.

I think Don't Wanna Fall In Love would be a very good live song.

I agree!!! Does anybody not agree with this?

Oh, I have another one. Dry Ice has the best guitar solo Billie has ever written IMO. Amanda has the second.

And yes, I know "BUT WHAT ABOUT DRB AND WTL!?" Well, to me, fast solos aren't necessarily the best solos. These two solos have great melody and coordination with the overall song. The flow is so good. But hey, that's just my humble opinion. :)

It's not about admitting Billie has particularly strong influences. For example, I absolutely agree that the chord progression of Warning is a ripoff of the Kinks' 'picture book'. I just don't think Brutal Love is ripoff, having listened to the original song a number of times, and I'd happily say so if I thought it was.

Brutal Love is SUPPOSED to sound like Bring It On Home. Green Day even gave Sam Cooke credit for the melody in the Tré booklet, so you can now stop talking about that it is a "rip off".

Also, ALL bands have songs that sounds like others. Even Beatles had. why not just enjoy the music instead?

Unpopular opinion; 21st Century Breakdown is one of the best Green Day albums

* I think American Idiot is so overrated album, Nimrod is much better.

* What a good cover is Working Class Hero, I would love this cover would be included in a future Greatest hits album (The uncensored version, of course)

* I considered Waiting and Macy's Day Parade as some of the best Green Day songs ever. It's a shame they're not included on setlist nowadays.

Waiting is one of the bests. Infact most of the Warning is pretty good. I think Walk Away should have belonged to Warning.

I think the only cover that Green Day ever done that isn't superior to the original is "Tired of Waiting for You"
