LazyPhil
This is more of a pet peeve among fans than anything, but the overuse of the word "era" to describe everything Green Day ["current-era Billie's hair is __________" or arguing over whether something is this era or that era] really grinds my gears. It's so contrived and unnecessary. That's legit just a petty pet peeve, but I think sometimes it gets out of hand around here. We don't have to classify every moment of their lives, physiques, and bowel movements as part of a distinct era of history. "Era" is just a much shorter term than "between *album* and *album*"
DannyDirnt
It would be easier to say for example 'Warning era' than 'during 2000,2001,2002 and 2003' or even 'during 2000-2003'
InvaderPhantom
What's wrong with saying era? The time periods between their album releases, touring cycles, hair styles etc. is clearly distinguishable, so saying era is just easier when you refer to something specific, and it's common in every fandom. Some people have the weirdest pet peeves... Even Billie talks about Green Day eras all the time so it's even canon
PanicAttack!
Billie Joe does pretty much all the harmonies in the studio. Even back on the early records. Dookie, American Idiot, The Trilogy, everything. Mike just sings them live with the rest of the guys, and if he records as well, their voices are mixed together, but Billie Joe is loudest. That's what I hear, and I think Billie's voice sounds very different from Mike's, but as there is no definite answer to this in the album credits, it stands as my own personal opinion. And it seems to be an unpopular opinion as people have generally disagreed with me when I've presented it. Don't know why. It seems so obvious to me, and it is futhermore pretty much a standard in every band that the lead singer does the harmonies, cause the voices are meant to blend well together. It's true that Billie sometimes does his own harmonies, but 99% of the time it is Mike. I know it often sounds like it's Billie, but believe me, it's Mike. His voice just blends in really well with Billie's. From 1,000 Hours to iTré!, it's all him. In the earlier records Mike's voice is even pretty distinct, so I have no idea how you come to that conclusion... Despite what many people think, Mike even does it on 21st Century Breakdown. I used to think that Billie did his own back vocals on that one, but one of my broken headphones had this thing where you could basically only hear the instruments and stuff like backing vocals (so they're pretty much instrumental versions) - and you can clearly hear it's Mike. Even Billie talks about Green Day eras all the time so it's even canon I totally agree that it's the easiest way to talk about things, and yes, Billie does it too... I just think some people take it a bit too far Like, they NEED to put things into eras. Like, maybe it would be easier to say "I like Mike with short, gray hair better than long blonde hair" than "I like trilogy era Mike hair better than AI era Mike hair" because then it's actually like I need to pause and remember what Mike's hair looked like in every era Sometimes it's just easier to say the facts, if you catch my drift. I also think the reason it bugs me is because it doesn't really say anything when you're saying "I prefer 21CB era Billie to trilgoy era Billie." That doesn't tell me anything about what you feel about Billie, it assumes we're both on the same page about what those eras mean, and I don't think Green Day fans ARE on the same page with how they view each ''era." Yes, when you say Dookie vs. AI, most people know what you're getting at, but in general I just find that speaking too often in this way gets people off the hook from having to explain themselves... which they're under no obligation to do, it just always leaves me feeling stumped. If you can't tell I'm a detail-oriented person

You say that Mike's voice is pretty distinct yet blends well with Billie Joe's, which are to opposites. If it's distinctive along with Billie's, it means they do not blend well. If it blends well with Billie's it means their voices are very similar and are not distinctive to each other. The reason why this thing popped into my head again was that two days ago my phone messed up on some AUX connection to my loud speakers, and did that exact thing that you just described. Curious on these kind of things, I siezed the opportunity and listened to songs from pretty much all the records, and with most of them it was just the lead vocals missing, and I heard a distinctive double tracking of Billie Joe's voice in the harmonies. But as I said, it all comes down to opinions, as the recording process is not detailed in the credits, and backing vocals are usually high pitched, so the voices can be harder to distinguish. We both seem to be very certain of what we hear, but it's clear that mine is indeed the unpopular opinion of the two. What I also learned is that "See You Tonight" is probably the actual demo version Billie Joe recorded at his home studio. It didn't filter out any tracks as the rest of iDos! did, which means it was recorded in a different and less proffesional fashion. But it makes sense listening to the quality. musso_kn
For some reason, I wish the album Warning was called 'The Warning'. I don't know, it suits the way in which a lot of the lyrics are quite critical and mature (Warning, Fashion Victim, Hold On, Minority, Macy's Day Parade) and seems like an eerie predecessor for the two records that followed. Thank you and goodnight, from Ms. Hindsight.

My phone is funny like that and can mess up with AUX jacks sometimes, but it's usually not in that way. I have experienced it with broken earplugs before too. I bet it has something to do with a signal cutting out some of the compressed mastertracks, which usually can't be done. Perhaps there's some software og hardware out there to do it though, I just wouldn't know what to look for.
Misterglasshalfempty
Alright, here we go. 1.) Uno is shit. Set aside about four or five songs and the rest is garbage. 2.) Dos isn't that memorable, but it's not bad. 3.) Tré wasn't too shabby, at best. (Infinite love for Drama Queen, though.) 4.) Green Day Angry Birds was almost as pointless as Star Wars Angry Birds. (Doesn't really fit with this topic, but oh well.) 5.) Some of the things that Billie has said in the past have been nothing short of facepalm worthy. The Steve Jobs rant, for example, is among the worst that I can think of. 6.) I find the use of swearing in the trilogy to be excessive and a step backwards in songwriting. 7.) 21stCB is a fantastic album. Definitely in my top 3. The lyrics are mature and the sound is great. 8.) The newer music videos are kind of bad. Especially 'Oh Love'. Sam, da fuk were you thinking? 9.) The intro for Extraordinary Girl is wonderful, in my opinion. It was the intro for this song that made me interested in them though, so that might have something to do with it. If I can think of any more, I'll write them. This seems like enough for now. Love you...

You might hear completely different overdubs that you haven't noticed before, or backing vocals. I've only had this work for my iPods, but for other things like speakers it has played through the speakers and headphones at the same time. MaraGreenDay
And i have something to say to this guy that says that there´s a lot of hate to Green Day here: I have to say that i´m a little agree with you, just a little bit, but you have to realized that this is a forum where you can say everything that you want and post what you want (except nude pictures i think ) and that´s why you have to respect everybody´s opinion, cause that´s how it works here, and don´t be rude with the people here, they´re just having personal opinions. And if you don´t like the opinions here, don´t come to this treat or Green Day chat, believe me it works and in the end you don´t get mad to anyone....... And in the end no one is a better fan than the others .................... Sorry for my bad english And i don´t wanna fight, it´s just my opinion.............
