Insomniac45
Oh, I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not.. but I hate the polished gibson clean sounding guitars on the trilogy. The guitars could of used A LOT more distortion in some songs. For instance, Fuck Time, Carpe Diem, Baby Eyes, Missing You, etc. Billie really should of used Blue at least in a few songs. But I'm just disappointed in how much they used the same tone over and over. I think Makeout Party was the only song with that much distortion haha

Guest
Those are probably my three favorite songs off of Dookie. An unpopular opinion of mine: While I love the bass line and drum tracking in Longview, I think the song is extremely overrated. It is a good song but they released a lot of material on Dookie and previous albums/EPs that I find a lot better than Longview. Longview is probably one of the worst songs on Dookie. Doesn't mean it isn't good though.

joeysturkeyhead
Walking Contradiction is Green Days best video. Nice guys finish last should never of been a single, especially considering it came from an album with 17 other tracks on, the majority of those being better to... It's one of my favorite ever Green Day songs, I think that's one of the best choices they've ever done for a single.
Sarcasm
You are in no way representative of Green Day. 100% of my contacts are people I like, therefore Green Day must love everyone in their phone booksSo, I'm not a representative of GD, but you are? joeysturkeyhead
He was often wasted to fuck in the 90s to be fair. Hopefully that's not the aspect of 90s Billie that people miss though.I find it a bit silly to complain about him being less of a "rebel" and the rest of it now. Everyone changes and matures as they get older, it'd be extremely lame if he stayed like a snotty teenager his whole life. I get the impression he never wanted to do that either, I remember a 90s quote of him saying he wants to get older, to be a man, and another of him saying he wouldn't even want to bother being in a band if he wasn't also doing the family thing. Staying the same and never growing up aren't things he's ever aspired to as far as I can see.But then again the people who prefer the idea of him being how he was in the 90s now are going to get older and change and mature too.....so chances are their opinions won't stay the same forever I'm not comparing Johnny Rotten with Billie but if you look at an interview with Johnny Rotten when he was younger and now when he's old as fuck. His behavior just gets worse through the years, when he was young and acted like a dick it makes me think he's scary but maybe he'll grow up at some point, now when he's older and acts the exact same it's just creepy as fuck. When I think about 90's Billie and how he is right now, for example he used to hate on things (mostly other bands) a lot more when he was younger, if he'd be doing the same now it would just seem kinda, meh... Even uf Billie would be the same as back in the 90's I'd still look up to him, because let's face it he's allways been himself and that's the reason why I look up to him and Mike and Tré. I'd never look up to a person like Johnny Rotten...
ThibautDookie
C-Dog hug me you sexy man! I'm sick of everyone calling those 3 songs (and Coming Clean, can you believe it) filler. Dookie is 14 tracks of nonstop musical quality. Ehhhh modern Billie definitely is a bit more outspoken. 90's Billie (if that's what we're calling him) just seems like he didn't really give a fuck. He was also super uptight, I like the new more relaxed Billie. On the subject on them hating Blink, our boys have a lot of friends whose bands they dislike. Billie Joe is good friends with Fat Mike, for instance, but he doesn't like NOFX. Blink and Green Day got really close on the Pop Disaster Tour, but they were annoyed by the constant comparisons and the media's attempt to create a rivalry between the two (that fans, like us, just ate up). They may not like Blink's music but that doesn't mean they hate those dudes, from what I understand they're decently good friends. There's an interview where Mike or Billie talk about this somewhere. There's also a similar one with Tom and Mark on the other end of the spectrum. You are in no way representative of Green Day. 100% of my contacts are people I like, therefore Green Day must love everyone in their phone books Do you have links for those interviews with Mike and Billie and also Mark and Tom ? BullwinkleCheech
I skip BOBD, Holiday, 21 Guns, and The Forgotten every time. Too overplayed, The Forgotten I overplayed myself when it came out in November. My bad. Totally agree with you here ;-) I skip those most of the time as well
Strayheart1219
I don't find "y'know" or "one fucking minute" jokes funny, never understood why either of them have become such a big thing. And the term "OMJOS" makes me cringe so much. I agree so much! However, I enjoy y'know jokes. OMJOS when I first herd it I was cracking up so hard I actually started using it to be an asshole. But yeah one fucking minute jokes hurt /: still too soon.
chewychorizo
Genuinely can't fathom how people don't like Warning! It's absolutely my favourite album- every song is quality, seriously. I'm gonna chime in here also and say I don't really like She's A Rebel.
DannyDirnt
I think Shenanigans is much better than people think. It's really good. Soffocate, Desensitized, Tired Of Waiting For You, Espionage... that album has amazing gems, even if 2 or 3 of them are just covers.

musso_kn
This thread might as well be renamed random Green Day opinions/musings, because most of the opinions aren't particularly unpopular, or particularly popular for that matter. Not only should the trilogy have been condensed into one album (an opinion already well established), it is absolutely imperative that it should have ended with Brutal Love. The strings at the very end feel so...definitive.

musso_kn
Does that mean The Forgotten gets cut? Mmm... yeah. I used to be really obsessed with The Forgotten, and watched the video constantly. But now, I think it's a really weak song. I'd scrap it, if I'd had the power to do so.
