DannyDirnt
I agree. Something about Billie now seems...I'm not sure. A bit pretentious? I don't know how to explain it but I prefer watching interviews of him in the 90s instead of more recent videos. To me it's like he acts much more media-friendly. He's much nicer and all, and he's like much less of a rebel. He was much more of an inspiration in the 90s, from my point of view.

Hermione
yeah except he was clearly wasted to fuckHe was often wasted to fuck in the 90s to be fair. Hopefully that's not the aspect of 90s Billie that people miss though.I find it a bit silly to complain about him being less of a "rebel" and the rest of it now. Everyone changes and matures as they get older, it'd be extremely lame if he stayed like a snotty teenager his whole life. I get the impression he never wanted to do that either, I remember a 90s quote of him saying he wants to get older, to be a man, and another of him saying he wouldn't even want to bother being in a band if he wasn't also doing the family thing. Staying the same and never growing up aren't things he's ever aspired to as far as I can see.But then again the people who prefer the idea of him being how he was in the 90s now are going to get older and change and mature too.....so chances are their opinions won't stay the same forever

I like that kind of homour. I've always loved being a mean brat, and he was really good at it. I find 90s Billie funnier and cooler, and more inspiration to me at this point in time. As I evolve and mature, I'll probably also lean to his older self when the time comes. When I'm older than 90s Bilie.

Sarcasm
They only hate their music Well, since Blink made their own music, I'd say it's the same thing. In the big GD issue of Kerrang, they didn't seem like best friends when you read through the whole thing, the word "blink" pops up from time to time, and it's mostly critics comparing them or references to the Pop Disaster tour where GD played before them and stole the crowd and made Blink look like amateur every night. murdercitykid
I read an interiview in some magazine back in 09 when 21stCB came out, and Billie talked about how he use to talk with Tom Delonge on the phone and such things.
lbsf1
I wish green day were still how they were in the 90's, simply because I never got to see/wasn't born in 1994. I understand that they have grown up (as you would expect them too), however the teen punk side of me looks at those old gigs when they were wasted to hell and wished I was there. My unpopular green day opinion is that I think this tour will probably be the last or one of their last tours. I don't know why however its a gut feeling I have that they won't be doing it much longer.
EmmaCharlatan&Saints
Wasn't he wasted almost all the time in the 90's? Well high id say... at iheart he was just wasted on drink by the looks of it and it was embarrassing and uncomfortable to watch.. just saying and now with the rehab it had clearly become a problem.. Which is why I'm desperate for them to announce a few more tour dates. I must see them before they (I personally really hope not any time soon) they call it quits. I really think that they´re gonna be here for lots of years, but what i really think it´s that for a next release album it´s gonna pass a few years. I think they gonna be off for a few years after this tour, to spend more time with the family and that kind of stuff. But i don´t see them quitting any time soon. I think we´re gonna see them on the stages very olds lol
Eva
Sassafras Roots, Emenius Sleepus and In The End are the highlights of Dookie. And just to reignite this debate, I was listening to 21stCB today, and KYE and Christians Inferno are bangers. KYE shouldn't have been a single, but it's a damn fine album track. Those are probably my three favorite songs off of Dookie. An unpopular opinion of mine: While I love the bass line and drum tracking in Longview, I think the song is extremely overrated. It is a good song but they released a lot of material on Dookie and previous albums/EPs that I find a lot better than Longview. To me it's like he acts much more media-friendly. He's much nicer and all, and he's like much less of a rebel. He was much more of an inspiration in the 90s, from my point of view. Oh, that's not why I like 90s Billie "more" than 21st century Billie. I feel that he is a bit pretentious nowadays. Plus, while he still does give off that "punk" vibe, a lot of things he does now I find a bit hypocritical due to things he said back in the day. I couldn't care less if he kicks over trash cans and punches audience members in the face. If I want raw punk rock rebellion I'll watch videos of older punk bands (probably the Sex Pistols). Now, before everyone jumps on me, yes, I do realize he's grown up. No, I don't hate "modern" Billie. Please don't kill me about this. I like living. C-Dog hug me you sexy man! I'm sick of everyone calling those 3 songs (and Coming Clean, can you believe it) filler. Dookie is 14 tracks of nonstop musical quality. Ehhhh modern Billie definitely is a bit more outspoken. 90's Billie (if that's what we're calling him) just seems like he didn't really give a fuck. He was also super uptight, I like the new more relaxed Billie. On the subject on them hating Blink, our boys have a lot of friends whose bands they dislike. Billie Joe is good friends with Fat Mike, for instance, but he doesn't like NOFX. Blink and Green Day got really close on the Pop Disaster Tour, but they were annoyed by the constant comparisons and the media's attempt to create a rivalry between the two (that fans, like us, just ate up). They may not like Blink's music but that doesn't mean they hate those dudes, from what I understand they're decently good friends. There's an interview where Mike or Billie talk about this somewhere. There's also a similar one with Tom and Mark on the other end of the spectrum. Just looked at my contact list, I don't like 80% of them. And I said that I thought GD didn't like Blink, not the other way around. You are in no way representative of Green Day. 100% of my contacts are people I like, therefore Green Day must love everyone in their phone books
