Andrew
I don't know if this is unpopular or not but I don't think they should have released Jesus of Suburbia as a single. Mainly because I hate hearing the edited version that is about 6 minutes. It is my favourite Green Day song and probably always will be, but it doesn't really work as a single, and think they should have released Letterbomb or maybe Whatsername instead, they had more potential to be big hits than JoS in my opinion. I agree, but only because if it wasn't a single I never would've had to endure the horrendous video . I liked it when it was played/performed in full. Green Day had the longest ever performance in the history of Top Of The Pops because of it . If there was room on the radio and music channels for playing 9 minute songs and if it had a different video it would've been cool.
Ritz
I don't find "y'know" or "one fucking minute" jokes funny, never understood why either of them have become such a big thing. And the term "OMJOS" makes me cringe so much. Yeah this. The OMJOS part.

Well for the "y'know" ones it's because Billie says y'know ten thousand times in every interview, sometimes literally 3 or 4 times in one sentence. It's impossible not to notice this endearing little habit so it's naturally become well known to and appreciated by a lot of fans.

I don't think the jokes are funny though (except for a few every now and then) and it can get a bit tiring when people just keep going on about it. That's only my opinion though. Yeah I suppose it's the same with any joke/"thing"/meme really, when it's overdone or done badly it's not good. I have quite a high tolerance though I think, I enjoyed the extreme overuse of "Awesome As Fuck" for example.Definitely with you on "OMJOS" though I must say . Never good. Backyard Skulls
I love dos it's one of my favourite albums! People are complaining its not ~deep~ enough, Green Day wanted to make a back to basics dirty album. You'd be bitching if it was too political because they're not letting lose. Green day fan logic = ???

Green day fan logic = ??? Yeah sometimes music has to be shallow, very straight forward. It's just some party songs, raw rock n' roll, it only has to be loud! So you can party like it's the end of the world!

I wish people would say something a little more interesting about what Billie's actually saying.

Eva
I don't find "y'know" or "one fucking minute" jokes funny, never understood why either of them have become such a big thing. And the term "OMJOS" makes me cringe so much. See, my thing is that I saw "y'know" often in every day conversation and I always have, even before I started liking Green Day. Kids my age say "It was like, really cool." I say, "It was really cool, y'know?" I've just always talked that way. Then lo and behold, I enter the Green Day fandom and everyone thinks I'm trying to copy Billie Joe which is not what I'm doing. I don't like "y'know" jokes because of that reason. It's annoying to me, especially since I say y'know quite a bit, to see it plastered all over the place. It's just something he says, for God's sake. Kids now say "like" all the time but that's not floating around on the Internet as the subject of horrible memes. Only Billie's 90s personality is to me a model I'd like to follow. Don't hit me, please. I agree. Something about Billie now seems...I'm not sure. A bit pretentious? I don't know how to explain it but I prefer watching interviews of him in the 90s instead of more recent videos.
Kerplunk!!!
Walking Contradiction is Green Days best video. Nice guys finish last should never of been a single, especially considering it came from an album with 17 other tracks on, the majority of those being better to... tdlyon
Adding on to the OMJOS thing, I also find it incredibly cheesy when people say "Rage and Love!" all the time. It's in like every comment on his instagram, and seeing him actually use it in his New Years note made me cringe a bit.

Heather.
I think Tre Cool's voice is really entertaining and in a lot of ways the best voice in the band Maybe not for belting out on Broadway, but damn, it has such personality! As for the 90s Billie/today discussion, I think it relates back to Hermione's great analysis of why Billie's voice has changed so much in interviews. Sometime around AI, the man just sort of.... blossomed, for better or worse. It really was a rebirth for him (physically, musically, obviously emotionally), and it made him freer in a lot of ways to 1. talk more in interviews 2. be more happy/passionate (which was sometimes more angry) and 3. start getting "pretentious," though I think it was more the band as a whole started to recognize that they were hot shit in 2005 and had to embrace it and so they started to see themselves as needing to produce works of art (i.e. 21CB), and that's where Billie's "new" personality has come from. I think the only difference between Billie and the other two is that Billie took most of that responsibility upon himself and overburdened himself, as he has discussed, and Mike and Tre have discussed, so Billie has started to take himself more seriously (which is part of the reason we had this "fun" trilogy... he, like many of you, were sick of pretentious Green Day.) Yep.

Guest
Sassafras Roots, Emenius Sleepus and In The End are the highlights of Dookie. And just to reignite this debate, I was listening to 21stCB today, and KYE and Christians Inferno are bangers. KYE shouldn't have been a single, but it's a damn fine album track.
