Hermione
I never met him. I just think, that he looks very arrogant doring their shows, you know? And at some points of the songs you can hear his piano and that just pisses me of. Nah, it's just part of his stage persona to act a bit cocky. It's all in good fun, and I think it fits for a saxophone player to perform that way. Just kind of goes with the instrument y'know? You can't really act shy and reserved while playing the sax (or the piano if you're doing it rock n roll style). You can see him laughing and joking along with the rest of the band up there so I don't think it's meant seriously, he's just being an entertainer. Tubbie Head
I hate Jason Freese. He kinda ruins some shows for me. The piano sucks and doesn't fit into songs like "East Jesus Nowhere". And I think he's very arrogant. He's the farthest thing from arrogant!

Oh well, I'm very sorry for saying that he's arrogant, seems like I'm wrong I see your point Hermione. I never cared about jason, he was just an idiot to me..but now I can see why a lot of peolpe like him. Maybe I'll like him one day too But I still think the piano doesn't fit into the songs
Kerplunk!!!
I've noticed it's really one way, or another. I've noticed a lot of people on here calling his trilogy solos "piss poor" and other things of the sort. Again, I'm not sure what they were expecting from this group. BJ has never been a big "shredder". I'm not saying he can't, he just doesn't really incorporate that into the music. Who says they are piss poor? The solo's on 1039 and the trilogy are pretty damn good and technical for a pop punk band if you ask me, i've spent years trying to nail the 1039 solos and The Judges daughters the only one i've really got so faras there is some pretty fast finger work in them. I can't think on any pop punk bands who have better solos except Sum 41 and that was from their metal influenced guitarist anyway..
joeysturkeyhead
I actually like the crappy recording of 39/smooth and Kerplunk, they wouldn't sound as good if they didn't sound crappy. imo
joeysturkeyhead
What a fabulous idea! Jason and Billie's voices are beautiful together I like that Jason is in the band when he plays guitar but I'd rather have only Mike on backing vocals. Mike's vocals should atleast be louder than Jason's...

DTH
i think one of the best idea for the trilogy was to bring those solos back. i always questionend why they didn't use them after kerplunk anymore. i know it had something to do with his opinion on the guitar music back then, he said it in an interview. don't get me wrong i love this simple power chords instrumental bits like in she, stuck with me or basket case as well. the thing is to mix it up once in a while. murdercitykid
I don't know if this is unpopular or not, I have no idea actually, but I fucking love the simple powerchord guitarplaying on Dookie & Insomniac. Especially on Insomniac, the whole idea to stay away from all the fucking guitar geeks who just whanks of the fretboard and trying to be Yngwiee Malmsteen (anyway, guitarists like him sounds like shit to me anyway). I hate those geeks haha That idea is the same I've always had and are doing on many of my own songs, to leave more space to the bass and the drums, and putting them ( especially the bass) in the center of the songs. I think it's brilliant! Don't get me wrong, I loooove the solos on 39/Smooth and the most of the trilogy, but I prefer that melodic bass and orgasm drums. Plus it's that punkrock spirit, that ATTITUDE, to me, it's like a big fuck you to all the rockstar/ rockstarwannabe's and the metalheads! But I agree anyway, the solos really fitted the most of the songs of the trilogy, except for some maybe. It's awesome any way they're doing it. I'm happy Billie has begun to do solos like that again, because it fits the songs, it's in the song DNA. It would sound pretty bad, weak and amateur without them, like half done songs. My point is that I don't think Green Day would sound as good today, as they did twenty years ago if they didn't have these solos. And it would've sucked pretty hard if Green Day would've done seven more albums after Insomniac that didn't have ANY kind of guitar solo, it would've shown some kind of lack of maturing as musicians, Plus it's nice to see Billie walking out of his shadow and go extra crazy with the guitar these days. Eva
Alright I'll give this one a go... - They are not a hard-core punk rock band. They have the personality of punk rockers, but their music is pop-punk, pop, or i guess alternative... - I feel like the trilogy is missing something. Some songs are good... but c'mon. No way are they "at their highest creativity point". - Nimrod is fucking genius - 21cb is not horrible. But not their best. As a follow-up to AI and the lack of Rob's presence, it was as good as it was gonna get. Also, 21 Guns is way overrated. It's ok- but nothing special - Dookie is good but has a lot of duds. - AI will always be their most popular album (Dookie as a close second). There is not much we can do about that, but it's the album almost every non-Green Day fan knows. I agree with you on most of this. However, I do believe Dookie is their most popular album. Maybe not with this generation of kids, but overall Dookie's their best-selling album (although American Idiot hasn't been out for as long...). A lot of saxophones give off that cocky sort of personality, especially during sax solos. I'm in the school band and when there's a sax solo, no matter who it is or what style of music it is, every single one of them looks like an arrogant guy who thinks he's just the coolest in the world. It's a bit weird, actually, because the sax players in the band are some of the nicest guys I've ever met Anyway, my point with this is that I wouldn't judge someone based on their stage persona. Freddie Mercury was one of the shyest guys in the world but when he got onstage he was king (or queen) of the fuckin' world. Stage persona can be quite a bit different than someone's actual personality. They covered Rock The Casbah with Jason on the vocals! Did they really? Is it online somewhere? Green Day and The Clash are two of my favorite bands

Unholy Sister of Grace
I love Sex, Drugs and Violence. Think it's brilliant. "Back in school it never made much sense, and now I pay but I can't pay attention" sounds very much like it came from Billie's tormented little mind. And the music is very energetic. I often play it more than once. I've warmed up to all the records really, except for Insomniac. Just can't seem to get into it. But I adore Warning. VisionsofGreenDay115
The Oh Love and Stray Heart music videos sucked ass, sorry to all who like them, but what the fuck does hanging out with a bunch on women playing a song have to do with Oh Love? Great freaking song, but could have done so much better. As far as Stray Heart, it was really cheesy, and the weird looking human/heart thing doesn't work, again, great song, but could have been so much better. Even though Oh Love was a very unsuccessful lead single and probably an awful choice for the trilogy's lead single, its still an absolute awesome song. Panic Song (Insomniac) NEEDS to be played live, end of story. Good Riddance still needs to end every show, sorry for you all that think they should end it with a bang from Dirty Rotten Bastards, or change the melody up by using The Forgotten as the last song, but as a Green Day fan, and you think of a Green Day show, you always know they're going to end it with Good Riddance and I think that has become a memory that everyone needs to share. If they really want to get a good ending to the show going, they should have both Dirty Rotten Bastards and Jesus of Suburbia as their encore. They need to add more Warning songs to their setlist. Thats one of my favorite albums and I think a lot of people would die to see some of those songs.
Insomniac45
I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I DEFINITELY think blink-182 and Green Day should do a Pop Disaster Reunion tour!

The Disappearing Boy
Sometimes Green Day really sucks at putting song outros together. Look at Homecoming, Brutal Love and Dirty Rotten Bastards to name a few, they could have done something far more interesting with those songs than just repeat the same line ten times over. Lewis90
- Suffocate off shenanigans may be my favourite song ever - Nightlife doesnt actually bother me that much - Really enjoyed the trilogy, X-Kid is some of their best work in ages - The Network should do a second album, if not an EP, another song like Right Hand O Rama would be enough - Pinhead gunpowder need another full length album also - 21cb was good, but american eulogy is ridiculously good - Most imporantly, I can listen to every single album with the same level of enjoyment
