murdercitykid
I fucking hate Billie Joe's voice when he screams ( as He do all the time these days ) live. It's annoying cause he's doing it all the time. Just paid attention that he screamed "Hey!" with that voice in Missing You, haha never thought of that before. But anyway, I think it's awful, he sounds like an angry Kermit the Frog. For example, 1.40 in this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bih28LY5v24 . I don't care if someone's going to say " Oh, he's getting the crowd going " " He's trying to do a better show" I really don't care, I just find it annoying. X-KidRoach
I've got a few 1.) Apparently no one likes the trilogy so, I really enjoy. I only dislike 8 or 9 songs. Its too over edited but still very good. tre is my 4th favorite green day album with dos in 5th and uno in 8th. Still great albums with some serious gems. 2.) Warning is green days 2nd best album with AI in first and Dookie in 3rd 3.) Insomniac is hands down their worst album. 4.) Whatsername and X-Kid are tied for their best song ever (with wake me up when September ends, uptight, when I come around, basket case, fashion victim, blood sex and booze, good riddance (time of your life), and lazy bones fleshing out the other top ten 5.) Amy is an amazing song. What's up with all the hate for it?

First of all, welcome to GDC I agree with pretty much everything you said except Insomniac being their worst album, to me it's Warning, as much as I love it to me it's not "maximum" Green Day and Amy is indeed an amazing song but I didn't see a lot of hate for it. That Punk Kid.
Mike's voice sounds a lot like Tim Armstrong, the lead singer of Rancid.

Thank you! I don't like insomniac only because none of the songs (in my opinion) have very good hooks or very good vocals. I like warning due to the lyrical meaning of the songs and the Great singing. Also, I just got on this thread and noticed hatred towards Amy D:

X-KidRoach
I absolutely love Amy, until the key changes at 1:54, in my opinion I like the bridge but the chord change is awkward. He should have found a different transition chord

IsaGreenDay
1 - I love the way Billie screams in songs like At The Library, Private Ale and She. 2 - I find those "extra sounds" (I don't know how to call them) funny, just listen to Android or Dominated Love Slave, there are toilet sounds, people talking, random screams... 3 - I think Mike is a good singer and Governator is not a bad song. Eva
Not what I meant. I meant they should have scheduled a performance and stuff. Haha, my bad I don't think they would have been able to do that though. I mean, it would have been great, don't get me wrong, but having Billie Joe in rehab (or out. Is he out now?), a cancelled tour, and three albums in a short span of time that definitely didn't sell as well as they could have due to the situation, it would have been a bit unrealistic. Plus, as far as I know, they weren't nominated for anything. I fucking hate Billie Joe's voice when he screams ( as He do all the time these days ) live. It's annoying cause he's doing it all the time. Just paid attention that he screamed "Hey!" with that voice in Missing You, haha never thought of that before. I don't care if someone's going to say " Oh, he's getting the crowd going " " He's trying to do a better show" I really don't care, I just find it annoying. I like it when he does things like that occasionally to pump up the crowd but when he stands there for five minutes screaming "Hey, oh! Put your fucking hands in the air! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!" I start to get annoyed and bored. Mike's voice sounds a lot like Tim Armstrong, the lead singer of Rancid. They both came from the 80s Gilman scene. Tim was actually in Operation Ivy, which was one of early Green Day's greatest influences. They used to hang out quite a bit back in the 80s and early 90s. They came from the same place, with the same music, and the same background. I personally don't believe they sound that similar, but I do understand where their styles would overlap. Guest
By the seems of it, me loving his screaming/shouting/hey-ohs/general interaction and stupid antics is extremely unpopular. I just love it. His voice pulls off so many things, the video on the last page of Murder City, his shouty screaming in that, I just love it. His hey-ohs may become tiring if you go to a fair few shows, but being someone who has only ever seen them via BIAB, I love it & I will love it when I finally see them live. I just love his goofyness & how he just randomly does anything he wants 95% of the time.

And I suspect that even though some people moan about the hey-ohs and messing around etc and insist they'd prefer shows without it, if the band stopped doing it they'd find themselves bored and missing the fun and connection between band and crowd that makes Green Day shows so special

RiseDay
I don't know where I should write this, but I think this thread is good for that. I think a lot of people of you don't know the german band "Die Ärzte". I think they are some kind of the german Green Day. There are some kind of similarities. Both bands are live louder, harder and faster. Both bands have very long concerts..and both make fun of this "They aren't punk anymore" shit Maybe some other germans share my opinion. And for the people who don't know them, I'll post some songs of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi5_fSv7qXk&list=PL0D50EFF7A6EC1FF5 (This is kinda like the biggest hit of their new album) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_Wnv7mbA6o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whiY0tKUI5o I think they are live better than on their records, just like Green Day This is some kind of weird Green Day Opinion..but I already said that I didn't knew where I should write this.. Hermione
Don't think so. 90s concerts were still amazing and fun without the hey ho's. He did loads of similar stuff in the 90s! Less hey-ohs, but still loads of silliness and shouting random stuff to the crowd. The shows are more theatrical and interactive now whereas in the 90s there was more snottiness and baiting the crowd. They couldn't go back to being as snotty as they were back then now, so if they stopped the theatrics and crowd interaction it'd just be dull, like any other band's show. The connection between band and crowd at a Green Day show is something they've worked on and improved for years, it's the best thing about the show and I don't think there's any way it'd be as good without it. You're totally right. I remember watching Jaded live in Chicago and at some point of the concert, Billie started shout "Slamahehe" (or some other stuff, I don't know) for like 2 minutes. Shouting "Hey-oh" is much better than this stupid nonsense.
