Insomniac1984
The American Idiot tour setlist was probably the most boring setlist they've ever had. Hardly anything that wasn't off International Superhits or American Idiot got played. Bullet In A Bible is an accurate reflection of how dire that tour was. Totally agree!! That's why I think BIAB sucks.
musso_kn
I like BIAB, not for its setlist, but because I think the performances themselves are very strong. However, some of the things the band members say during the footage in between the actual concert clips are really...arrogant. Like 'oh, the sky's clear because God wants to see his favourite band play' and 'Tre's the greatest drummer in the history of rock 'n' roll.' I mean, really? They're like their own biggest fans. See, I really liked that, it had a very big attitude to it. I don't know how to describe it but it made me chuckle with how highly they do think of themselves, which can be good or bad depending on how you go about it. If it's a case of constantly telling people you're awesome, no one can even compare, people are dumb for thinking otherwise? That's when it's shitty. But with them it's just passing comments most of the time but they know that they're not loved by all & they're ok with that. I dunno, I just think it fits them perfectly, it all has a good sense of humour to it
Jack [DF]
Inspired by my recent status, I'm probably in the minority in believing that Panic Song is one of the best Green Day songs there is. The fact that you could take a reasonable guess at its name without ever having seen it before. It is excellent at conveying Panic, basically. (remember to explain your opinion!) Panic Song is one of my favorites too, and one of the best. It's an early example of a song where all the instruments really piece it together; the first two minutes are instrumental so the repetitive bassline and frenetic drumming carry it. The repetition gives it almost a post-punk vibe. And the lyrics are fucking fantastic: "The world is a sick machine breeding a mass of shit. With such a desolate conclusion, fill the void with... I don't care." Like Kurt Cobain at his best.

The whole God's favourite band joke seems pretty light hearted in retrospect, but Billie really did seem deadly serious when talking about Tre's drumming skills. The whole God's favourite band joke seems pretty light hearted in retrospect, but Billie really did seem deadly serious when talking about Tre's drumming skills. That is true. Tre is a great drummer but there's definitely better out there. That one was a bit.. Eh, off but even when they do say dumb stuff, thankfully it's not too often. That only applies to the really dumb stuff, not the generally dumb stuff. Otherwise that'd be half of their conversations..

Guest
Maybe Billie thinks Tre is the best drummer ever...I mean they have been playing together forabout 20 years now That would be classed as an opinion though. Billie said it as fact which did kind of come across as a bit arrogant. If he had worded it better, like 'I think Tre is the best drummer', but he didn't. He just flat out said he IS. I think that may be the main issue.
musso_kn
I guess the occasional arrogance and general douchbaggery of the band members is part and parcel of being rock stars. They're not as full of themselves as other famous peeps, and appear to be quite caring towards their fans, so I can't be too harsh. Also the forgotten is the worst ballad they've ever done. It just makes it worse than. And they've written some lovely slow numbers. Even WMUWSE, which has been growing on me lately, is better than that five minutes of shite. Well I think it would be odd of Billie to say.."yeah, I think Tre is a good drummer.." I mean you got support your band mates..but then again..he doesn't say Mike is the best bassist around..hmmm. But nonetheless, I don't think the comment is arrogant in anyway, and if he think Tre is the best drummer then he is totally entitled to his opinion..and not a bad opinion to have if you ask me

I just meant that he was so sure of himself, as if there is no one out there better than Tre which is so nice to see, that he thinks of Tre like that, but at the same time it's like.. Really? I dunno. I'm just gunna stop digging myself into the biggest hole
Iain
I hate Green Day's website. While this isn't anything about the band themselves, I want to shoot the guy(s) who built it. I hate browsing it, I hate using it and it's the reason why I avoid it and go other places, though if I need to get anything important, I have to go there and use it only to find myself lost in a sea of bad navigation hierarchy and carpal tunnel syndrome. I've only ever been on it once. Then I discovered GDA and never went back. One of the worst made websites I've ever seen. That said, a lot of bands/artists official websites are fucking awful. Hermione
I guess that's a good point. The whole God's favourite band joke seems pretty light hearted in retrospect, but Billie really did seem deadly serious when talking about Tre's drumming skills. I think if he'd been talking about his own skills at guitar playing it would've been arrogant. But calling Tre the best drummer in the world or whatever is just showing respect to his band mate. Not so much being arrogant as sincerely complimenting a friend.

But calling Tre the best drummer in the world or whatever is just showing respect to his band mate. Not so much being arrogant as sincerely complimenting a friend. It's also entirely subjective; while it could be argued that there are better drummers than Tre, that's Billie's opinion entirely and that's all it is. whatsername
1/ Out of the three albums i only enjoy one of them as a whole. DOS i only like 3 songs and Tre i like 4. 2/ I think DOS is my least favourite Green Day album ever. 3/ I prefer listening to Stray Heart on the live recordings than the album. 4/ I don't like the trilogy covers. It's torture on my eyes. WOW that felt good to get out
Milo Goes To Pasalacqua
- I think that Their first 5 records are amazing. Warning and American Idiot were really good but had many weak points and everything after sucked for the most part. - 21 Guns is a terrible song, and sounds like a rehash of Blvd. of Broken Dreams (which I also dislike) - Nimrod had some of Green Day's best song writing, and it felt more mature and more thought out than any of their recent work. - Despite popular belief, yes Green Day are a mainstream band and a lot of Their recent work is pop-rock music (they used to be Punk, even the Gilman kids thought so). There's nothing - I don't like their ethics too much, especially Billie's. I like Green Day alot mind you, but Billie seems kinda... hypocritical and douchey. - The "Oh Love" video promoted a terrible message. I though they were "against" this kinda thing? What was that quote Billie said around the Warning era about GD's videos not getting played om MTV because they hadn't half-naked girls in them? It's irking me that i can't remember it. I liked the Oh Love video. The version that was on the playboy website was better than the normal version. I mean, it's not my favorite video of theirs or anything but I think it's fine. Music videos really aren't that important anymore anyway. While i'm still not really a fan of the video, yes, i did prefer the playboy one. Ironically, it was actually less trashy.
