LogikaX
I don't agree but out of curiousity, if you feel this way about Green Day, why did you join the fan forum? My unpopular opinion: I love Nightlife. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I've actually been around for awhile, check my join date I just remember feeling pretty disappointed the second time I saw them live and I know it's an uncommon opinion so I posted it! Nightlife is my favorite song of the trilogy! (or at least in my top 5, they interchange places pretty regularly)
Cob
I love X-Kid tons, but I hate the ending. I feel like the vocal harmonies shouldve harmonized with Billie's last note. I used to think this too, that Billie should go higher at the end of the song and the last "over and over and out." But then I realized that when you commit suicide, you don't exactly go out on a high note...

But then I realized that when you commit suicide, you don't exactly go out on a high note... Wow. I never thought of that. Now I'm a little bit sad inside.. Eh, I didn't like Billies blonde hair when he first got it, when it was 100% blonde. It didn't suit his complexion at all. But after he had let it grow out & got it trimmed? It looked awesome. Just the immediate clash of brassy blonde again his skin was too much but the break of the darker colour between definitely softened it up. But then I realized that when you commit suicide, you don't exactly go out on a high note... Yes! That is exactly what I was getting at. At least he should hit a high note and work his way down. It just seems like the song builds up to that climax point at the end and it just kinda drops.
Guest
how the hell is his house relevant to anything... Because it's Billie Joe's house & Billie Joe in a member of Green Day? Direct connection... I'm not saying you're wrong because this is all just opinion here, but if we're clearly enjoying talking about it, having a laugh & just have a bit of banter, whats the harm? Why does it effect you in any way? Seriously, if you don't like what we're talking about, just don't look at our posts. Block us. All we're doing is having a bit of fun, if you're incapable of doing that then just don't go to those threads.

Guest Just Another Joe
- I think that Their first 5 records are amazing. Warning and American Idiot were really good but had many weak points and everything after sucked for the most part. - 21 Guns is a terrible song, and sounds like a rehash of Blvd. of Broken Dreams (which I also dislike) - Nimrod had some of Green Day's best song writing, and it felt more mature and more thought out than any of their recent work. - Despite popular belief, yes Green Day are a mainstream band and a lot of Their recent work is pop-rock music (they used to be Punk, even the Gilman kids thought so). There's nothing wrong with being a pop band though even if pop music isn't my thing (in my opinion). - Their guitar tones and production are awful. The recent stuff sounds too overproduced, yet their guitars sound weak and frail. I'd prefer the thick tones on Insomniac back. - 21st Century Breakdown feels like a terrible remake of American Idiot. - Billie kinda lazy when it comes to playing guitar sometimes (Only sometimes, I've been seeing him do more with the guitar recently but I still find him slacking) - ENOUGH WITH THE "HEY-OHS" - Jason's kinda excluded. He's never in the photo shoots or anything. If this is his choice, then all respect to him. But if the guys are preventing him (Which I doubt) then that's not right. - They keep playing the same songs live!! Not enough old material (especially stuff from insomniac). - I don't like their ethics too much, especially Billie's. I like Green Day alot mind you, but Billie seems kinda... hypocritical and douchey. - The "Oh Love" video promoted a terrible message. I though they were "against" this kinda thing? - Censoring the trilogy, when last year they made a big fuss about keeping 21st CBD uncensored. - Like someone before in this forum mentioned. The Dookified renditions are A LOT better than the Trilogy. That dude makes some great music/covers/remakes. - Kill the DJ sucks bunghole. - Fuck Angry Birds - Green Day should play snot-nosed Punk Rock again! Stop with the uniforms and wear some torn jeans and lose t-shirts, OH and smoke pot again! Ah fuck it, I changed my mind. Warning's a great album! Make that "The First 6 records are amazing". Did you see them during the same "era" twice? That's the only way I can think of someone being a bit disappointed with the shows being almost the same, 'cause they do tend to have the "same formula" over the tour, but I don't really blame them, it's all about the whole performance, the lighting, pyro etc. they have all that and these are done to match the different parts of the shows during that tour, so y'know, unless you're seeing them at the secret shows it won't be that exciting to see them multiple times! (although I wouldn't mind that hahah)

(although I wouldn't mind that hahah) That's a good point that I did not think of! However, I tend to see my favorite bands a few times per tour cycle so I don't know if that totally explains my disappointment. I actually saw one of my favorite bands (Steven Wilson) perform three times over four days and the third performance was my favorite! Its scary to see the amount of people talking shit about their favorite band on that thread Think of it this way: they are still one of my (and I'm sure the other posters) favorite bands of all time. Personally, I didn't really dig the trilogy, but I'm waiting in breathless anticipation for what comes next! A little disappointment doesn't outweigh the general awesomeness of the band
WhiteTim
- Censoring the trilogy, when last year they made a big fuss about keeping 21st CBD uncensored. To be fair they never really made a stance against censorship hell they did a censored version of AI for Wal Mart until the dispute They just felt there wasn't enough cause to censor 21st century and they took a stance with it Billie Joe even said they went over board with the cussing ib the trilogy to Guitar World
Guest Just Another Joe
They're a hardcore thrash indie band. Fuck you. So they're basically a Crossover Thrash Indie band. I knew I was right about this all along! They should tour with D.R.I. and the Suicidal Tendencies sometime to y'know Thrash it up.
Guest Just Another Joe
The only good song Billie has ever written is Look For Love, everything else is complete shit. That's the only reason I'm here and still a fan, I'm waiting for Billie to top Look For Love. Hey dude, c'mon! Why are you expecting impossible shit to happen? That songs untoppable. Mar
Brain Stew is boring. If they had put together the best 18 songs from the trilogy and released it as one album, it could have been their best ever. The studio version hurts my ears by the end of the song (I have the same problem with Wow! That's Loud. I'm an old coot ) and the live version is really boring. Alright, here we go. 4.) Green Day Angry Birds was almost as pointless as Star Wars Angry Birds. (Doesn't really fit with this topic, but oh well.) 5.) Some of the things that Billie has said in the past have been nothing short of facepalm worthy. The Steve Jobs rant, for example, is among the worst that I can think of. 6.) I find the use of swearing in the trilogy to be excessive and a step backwards in songwriting. 9.) The intro for Extraordinary Girl is wonderful, in my opinion. It was the intro for this song that made me interested in them though, so that might have something to do with it. If I can think of any more, I'll write them. This seems like enough for now. I agree with these. "Pointless" was the perfect word choice for Angry Birds. It came out too long before the trilogy, it seemed a little desperate/reaching and I don't think the target audience was right. And Extraordinary Girl was at one point one of my favorite Green Day songs because of that intro. Relevant:

Fish
Nightlife from Dos is the first song from Green Day I've ever heard that I genuinely dislike. I can't listen to that song, it's just bad. I don't know what their motive was to get some chick rapper few people have heard of before and put a song like that on an album contained with songs you'd most likely hear in a Foxboro Hot Tubs album. There are songs they've put out that I don't sing in the shower, but that doesn't mean they're bad. Nightlife just flat out sucks IMO.
Guest Just Another Joe
I hate absolutely everything to do with the AI musical, and choose to pretend it simply doesnt exist. if it ever actually happens Il probably feel the same about the film. .....Im really not fussed about welcome to paradise. I dont want rob cavallo to produce any more green day albums, he too close and doesnt know when to say no. (that being said id still take him producing of butch vig anyday) Green day should leave warner/reprise at the first opportunity and go to an indie label ( mst probably adeline) Adeline is not an indie label it's a Subordinate Label. It's controlled by Warner (a major label), and I don't see any independence with that.

Out of nothing more than curiosity, how on earth have you managed to sustain your interest in a band, who you don't think have produced a decent album in thirteen years? I take it, being on here, you are interested? Granted I'm not in love with the Trilogy, but you've been waiting around for a record suited to your taste for over a decade.. You must have a lot of...patience.

I take it, being on here, you are interested? Granted I'm not in love with the Trilogy, but you've been waiting around for a record suited to your taste for over a decade.. You must have a lot of...patience. I'm not a fan of the current work, but god damn do I love their older stuff. I don't know exactly how I'd describe sustaining my interest. Really, I just like their stuff. I liked them a lot more when I first joined the GDC (not to say I still don't like them). Their older work still mean something to me. Despite still liking the band I listened to the whole trilogy and just couldn't get into it. I used to like 21st Century Breakdown a lot, I thought that album was so good but I kinda... lost interest. I still love the bands work, hell I'm listening to 39/smooth right now. 6 great records beat out 4 bad records (AI isn't what I consider bad it's 21st and the Trilogy I'm talking about). I'm not really waiting around 'cause when it comes to bands, new releases aren't something I get hyped up about. Sometimes I get excited, and possibly hyped but for the most part I don't mind. Alot of my favorite bands went into seriously crappy directions (My favorite Punk bands turned into terrible Metal bands, like really bad metal, I can't even listen to those records 'cause they're so bad but I still like the band) but I just pick up the record and listen. I don't think about Uno when I listen to Dookie. Aside from this most of my music comes from the 70's, 80's and 90's and most of these bands have been broken up for 30 years, so 13 years is nothing to me. I know it seems bad, but I disagree with a lot of my favorite bands all the time. I could pull out lists long then the one I provided above. Also I don't really care for what they do onward, it's not up to me and they don't owe me anything. Regardless of whatever they do I have many good memories of my mom buying me Insomniac and Dookie and listening to them constantly. Sitting in my room, look at the Dookie booklet with the dude smoking resting against a streetlamp or pulling out Insomniac and look at it like it was something I've never seen before. EmmaCharlatan&Saints
Some more: The Oh Love video is absolutely awful!! And Kill the DJ isint much better either. The videos have failed miserably for the trilogy. Some fans backing everything up they say even if what they say is fucking stupid.. I would refer to the Steve Jobs rant again.
