Green Day wrote, recorded and released it so yes it is, sorry :P
Sorry, but it is. There's no opinion here, it is. Like others you can like it or dislike it but it's a Green Day song.

Alright. it is a Green Day song.... but... it shouldn't be at least... Rap, and singing girls is really bad. and together its the worst thing ever!

What i meant was more like.... i always skip it, cause I don't think its a real Green Gay song :P

No. The worst thing ever would have been a collab with Bieber, 1D or Nicki Minaj. Lady Cobra sounds much better and I think it fits the song. If you wanna be entitled to 'rap sucks' then go on, but Nightlife is an amazing cross between rock and rap and I am very happy they've done it. Also adds a lot to the whole album, giving it more diversity and making it sounds much more different and experimental. In my opinion it was a genius idea to cross both genres. I don't really mind rap, but this song is catchy, dance-able and simply mindblowing.

You really can't have heard many rap/rock cross overs if you think Nightlife is 'amazing', 'experimental' and 'mindblowing' . I don't even have a problem with the song but it's just a below par Green Day song with a standard song structure featuring a below par rapper over the parts where Billie would normally sing the verses.

Insomniac is, I agree with that. As a whole though, I don't believe their career leading up to that point was as punk as it's made out to be sometimes. They do have songs that are extremely punk or punk-influenced.

if you talk about the music green day was as much punk as it gets. punk is a wide spectrum.

you told people to listen to other punk bands from gilman street. well then i tell you to listen to the to the clash, to the adicts, to the boys... green day had much of that early uk punk style. punk doesn't mean to scream and play as fast as you can, you know... a 15 yo tries to explain what punk is...

4. I don't get why Billie hates Lynyrd Skynyrd

6. Billie Joe isn't good-looking man. Especially with guyliner\

4. Because they are fuckin' rednecks and racists.

Haven't you ever listened to Kerplunk?

I don't consider that EP part of Kerplunk, in my opinion it's absolutely awful! With it tacked on at the end Kerplunk goes from being one of their best records to their second worst after 21st Century Breakdown.

I was just saying that that's how most people have heard the songs off the Sweet Children EP. The only good thing about it is their My Generation cover.

I don't think this is particularly unpopular but I really hate Walk Away. I didn't mind it so much at first but jeez it's depressing and just unpleasant to listen to.

On a more unpopular note, Dos is my favourite album from the trilogy. I don't dislike any of the songs from it.

Nimrod is the best Green Day album.Nothing beats it.It is also the most under-rated, looking at how awesome it is.

I must be the only person who is completely indifferent to the eyeliner thing. I don't love it but neither do I hate it. If they stopped wearing it I probably wouldn't even notice. If they went a few steps further and started dressing like scene kids I would find it mildly amusing at most.

The people who're hating on the make up are being as childish as the fangirls who cream themselves over it.

I'm the same. I think they look better without it but it doesn't particularly bother me. It's not like it makes any difference to their music.

I would rather Green Day than forty year old's being in a band called Sweet Children.

That would be so creepy. :ermm:

Actually I think the most underrated album is Insomniac, in general people really like Nimrod... ;)

Interesting theory...care to expand on what make you think that? :)

Many people believe wit and humor are the biggest signs of intelligence, and Tre's comments are always so sharp and clever. He's obviously insane, but you can tell the few times he does answer questions in interviews, he processes the questions utterly and completely, and responds with something out-there but also so incredibly on point, usually with some kind of clever metaphor (like in Cuatro, "sending the kid to the store to get cigarettes"). Billie processes things on a more honest, basic level, which is admirable in its own way, but I don't think he's the brightest crayon in the Green Day box :) He's obviously not a complete dummy, but he's no Tre. Mike is so serious all the time, and deliberate with everything he says, he's kind of the more intense version of Billie.

I love how Billie Joe will ramble on and on while answering a question and Tre will just toss a one liner that summed it up nicely. Like when they were asked what they thought about the ipad....classic :D

Didn't Tim have a problem with even NOFX? Is that what the song It's My Job To Keep Punk Rock Elite is about? If it is, i am going to love that song all the more.

I sure hope so! I love that song as well, if it's a middle finger to that elitist prick well then I do not mind at all.

21st Century Breakdown is their best album (and my favorite all time album by any band)

Dreamcatcher should've been put on a record

Nightlife is amazing

All of Uno minus Oh Love sounds pretty much the same to me musically.

Dos is the best album of the trilogy

Oh another one. Oh Love is one of my favourite songs from the trilogy, I actually love it. Billie's vocals sound great and I love the way it builds up.

This seems more like a confessions thread than an unpopular opinion thread.

If you don't like "new" Green Day (especially 21st Century Breakdown), and I use quotations because I absolutely hate the "new"/"old" labels that a lot of people use, then you don't know very much about music and you can't appreciate good music. Idk whether it's because you think Green Day should only play songs like what's on Kerplunk-Nimrod or because you genuinely can't recognize great songwriting when you hear it.

And I say this as a classically trained musician and singer, who loves the hell out of every GD album from 39/Smooth to TRE.

But seriously people, give 21stCB the respect it deserves.

That being said, your taste is your taste and of course you're free to like and dislike what you want, but just don't think you're justified in bashing it.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes!

I find She, Nice Guys Finish Last, Minority, Waiting and Geek Stink Breath are all fairly average songs which is strange since their all singles.

I think the Sweet Children EP is awful (I know it's been said) and wish it wasn't on the end of my Kerplunk CD! Lol

I have no idea what other people think of it but I don't like I Want to Be on T.V.

I love Kill the DJ. :D

That EP is probably my favourite part of the Kerplunk CD :ninja: But I love the whole thing.

Well, that must be my most unpopular GD opinion

I think Tré only started recording with them on Dookie.

The track list is Sweet Children, Best Thing in Town, Strangeland and My Generation (Who cover)
