Unpopular Green Day Opinions

I can't believe people are saying that Boulevard of Broken Dreams is overrated and shit! That song is probably one of the greatest songs of the 21st century in my opinion (I know most of you won't agree, but hey it's just my opinion). Even people who hate Green Day admit that it's an amazing song. The outro to that song is so badass it's unreal! :toocool: So stop hating on that song because if it wasn't for that song I can guarantee you that Green Day would not have as many fans. I would've never listened to Green Day in the first place if it wasn't for that song and now I love every single one of their albums.

I don't think it's a deep seated hate for the song, but as a Green Day fan, it gets a bit tiring of hearing it over and over, I just think people have gone off the song a little.

...which wouldn't be a bad thing.

I used to get sick of hearing BOBD on the radio all the fucking time. It's a great song, but they killed it. I can listen to it now though but I didn't listen to it for a long while.

So you're saying that a band having more fans is a bad thing? I can't even...

No, I'm talking about the people claiming to be fans who think American Idiot is their first album and BOBD is their best song.

These aren't true fans for me.

But many of us "die hard" fans got into them because of that one song. And I've actually seen more complaints about the "wannabe only-american-idiot"-fans than those fans

I quite like the Avril Lavigne Basket Case cover.

And the Fallout Boy one.

I got into Green Day because of Who Wrote Holden Caulfield. I heard that song somewhere and I loved it. Anyway, we're not bashing Green Day, we're just speaking out our opinions on some songs ;-)

  • 1000 Hours is way too sappy i can barely get through it

  • I believe John can be held to creating that basic Green Day rhythm because it was there in 1039 Smooth. Of course Tre perfected Green Day's drumming but we can give him credit for starting Green Day's special drum sound i guess.

  • Nightlife is an awesome song

  • I like Warning. A lot.

  • Billie and Tre wearing eyeliner is one of the worst decisions made ever. If it would have been a good one, Mike would have chipped in.

  • Amanda is extremely disappointing and I didn't feel like Billie put the full emotion he felt into the song. Very average but i'll listen the crap out of it.

That's what I love about 1000 Hours. It's so honest, perhaps too honest, but it's real none the less. Not to mention it has some really good songs.

American Idiot is probably their most popular album but its still a Green Day album and its normal people are fans because of this! And BOBD is one of their best song by the way.

Im getting tired of people complaining about the fact that American Idiot is too overrated and saying that fans from AI era aren't true fans or that if you think BOBD is their best song then you're not a true fans? wtf?

Its not because you're an old fan that you prefer Green Day more than someone who get to know them with American Idiot. (not talking about you here but some people in general)

Well, I'll try...

-21st Century Breakdown is my favourite album

-I think '21 Guns' is their best song

-I loved the whole fucking trilogy... I even think it's better tan AI

-¡Dos! is my favourite album of the trilogy

-I didn't like 'Stray Heart' video just because the position of the Heart-hole is not correct.

-I think Dookie is extremely overrated

-I don't like AI videos. I hate Sam Bayer. I think Mark Kohr was better.

-39/Smooth & Insomniac are my least favourite albums, but I like some of their songs.

Now, you can proceed to kill me if you want.

You just summed up all the opposites of what I love about Green Day :o

-I think Nimrod is their best album (American Idiot and Dookie close second)

-I think 21 Guns is one of their worst songs

-The trilogy was good but not great

-¡Dos! is the worst of the trilogy in my opinion

-I don't care too much for the Stray Heart video

-Dookie is fucking amazing

-Those two albums are some of the best they've made

I love how all of us have different opinions, and there are some people that just can't accept it or get over it. :D

6) They should write an album full of tracks in the vein of Misery.

This. So much.

Ahem.

1. Dookie isn't that great.

2. Christy Road is medicore.

3. The troligy is their high point musically. Billie has discovered his vocal range, and they've gone classic.

4. Tre's accordian skills surpass his drum skills.

5. The band got better as they went along. Not evenly, as in better with every album, but as a whole.

They haven't made a good album in almost a decade, and the number of good songs on the trilogy can be counted on one hand.

...which wouldn't be a bad thing.

are you aware of the fact that the more popular the band, the more countries they will play in?

if american idiot hadn't been as successful as it was, green day wouldn't be headlining big arena/stadium shows all over the world right now. being from germany yourself, i'm sure you can understand where i'm coming from.

and also, unsuccessful bands lose record deals. i'm very proud of the success american idiot had, it was a fantastic album, the band worked hard on it and they deserved the success they had.

This might be a popular opinion but I am IN LOVE with Peacemaker. It's such a catchy song!
