musso_kn
Billie Joe is a much better rhythm guitarist than people give him credit for. However, the long improvised solos during concerts are just him showing off, even if they are quite entertaining.
Maddy.
Not really, it's boring and bland compared to the majority of Green Day's catologue yet somehow gets to be one of their most radio played songs.. i dont think u understood what she just said m8 your opinion is a bandwagon
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love
i don't know if this is an unpopular or popular opinion... but I don't think the trilogy is all that great. it has some great songs and a lot of "i guess it's nice songs" and more "this is really boring" songs than I expect Green Day to make. Kind of disappointed with it. but then again many songs i used to adore are now downgraded to regular nice songs so idk. see I don't know if that's a popular opinion or not because the "NO THE TRILOGY IS AMAZING" people are usually louder than the other people. No Rhyme Or Reason
I love 21 Guns. Beautiful lyrics, lovely falsetto. Wonderful song. And I love the trilogy. There isn't a bad song off any of the three albums. Some I like more than others, but I think they're all great. However, I don't think of them in the same way as say American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown.... I had different expectations, so it works for me. alienlifeform
I do think that these songs of the trilogy are way overrated: Lazy Bones, Makeout Party and Brutal Love they are ok songs nothing more than that
Satan
21 guns is fantastic, so is last of the american girls... 21st cb is my favorite gd album. warning is such an overrated album on this forum. and minority, it's got a stupid meaning. weak song. I just think that his vocals are overworked, I prefer the Studio 880 version, sounds more real. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc1-SFnaPMs

deletethisaccount
- billie joes fucking rockstar shit is so annoying. stretching 2 minute songs to 10 minutes just for screaming hey ho... fuck, use the time to play no pride, stuck with me, going to pasalaqua, the grouch, scattered or worry rock. I totally agree with you on that. That kind of stuff got me pumped up when I was like, 11. But now, I sometimes just don't know what the hell he's talking about. One night at Pinkpop when they were playing She, he was screaming about how the sky was black or something before going into a exchange of hey oh's. When you're actually there, it's pretty cool for like one or two songs, but eventually, it just gets dragged out. I prefer how they used to just simply talk to the crowd. They still do that from time to time. I feel a lot more connected that way. I'm not a big fan of the clean guitars on the trilogy. I also find most of the lyrics on there to be quite bad. This isn't particularly an opinion about Green Day itself, but it really chaps my ass when I see a youtube video of Billie Joe talking about song writing, album concepts, experiences, and whatnot, and all the comments are just "omg billies hair is blonde now!!" "billies the cutest man alliv!" "ITS B-I-L-L-I-E, NOT B-I-L-L-Y" "lol he says yknow alot" and shit like that. Anyway positive stuff: The ending of J.A.R. is one of my favorite things Green Day has ever done musically, and I don't know why. Especially the demo version where they laugh at the end. That was very heart warming. I like Nightlife, Christians Inferno and Take Back. They should play Android live. I want Mike to sing a whole song. musso_kn
Not so much an unpopular opinion so much as a confession: seriously, every time I come across a dedicated new user on here who's in their late 20s or 30s it gives me the amazing warm feeling inside. Like, 'yes man, you're a long time fan and you're not a butthurting douche!' You know what I mean.

PigSniffingGlue
ummm.. let's see I really like Last ride in I don't have a favorite album I don't really like jokes about Billie's meltdown (can't say I wasn't guilty of a few "one fucking minute" jokes but if I were in his place ( ) I wouldn't want people to remind me about iHeart... I like Know your enemy too, fuck you, it DOES have a meaning I think that's it... oh yeah, I love Strangeland and Best thing in town
DannyDirnt
-21 Guns is fucking boring. -Boulevard of Broken Dreams is overplayed and too famous for what it is. -Know Your Enemy is not that repetitive if you don't overplay it (I did, but now after like 6 months I'm fine with it again). -I don't like AI as much as I could have because of its lack of good basslines. -AI and 21st CB's b-sides are better than the actual album songs. -My favorite song on Kerplunk is Words I Might Have Ate. -When I Come Around is overrated. -Acoustic part of the setlists ruins some songs. -Rest is not boring, but relaxing. -Any Warning song is to me better than the vast majority of songs in American Idiot and I'd rather see them play Warning front to back than Dookie. -Troublemaker and Loss of Control are dull. Well, that's all I can think of for now

Makingyourmascarableed
I like the song "Nightlife" more than I should The only song I honestly like from Kerplunk is "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?" I'm not really the biggest fan of Insomniac. I've tried, believe me, I just can't get into it. I'd pay any amount of money to have them play Warning or Nimrod front to back rather than Dookie, American Idiot, or even the Trilogy.
VIVALAWHATSHERNAME
I think Kill the DJ is a masterpiece and is one of the best songs ever written. It's exactly how dance songs should be, not made with synths, macbooks, or autotune, but with rock n roll. And the only reason people hate it is because they can't separate rock n roll influenced dance music from computer electronic dance music, which is a crying shame. Kill the DJ is the dance song the world needs.
Platypus2000
The only skippable song on Nimrod is Last Ride In, most pointless song Green Day ever created (along with Rest) and Good Riddance just due to the fact that I've heard it so many times. I don't like When I Come Around, Longview is over-rated. I actually skip all the singles on albums. I much prefer non-singles over singles, it's just how I've always been. Just a point I'd like to make, every song is over-rated or under-rated, there's no middle ground. That's why society is fucked up.
Satan
O.O A STUPID meaning? Charlie Boston
I can't believe people are saying that Boulevard of Broken Dreams is overrated and shit! That song is probably one of the greatest songs of the 21st century in my opinion (I know most of you won't agree, but hey it's just my opinion). Even people who hate Green Day admit that it's an amazing song. The outro to that song is so badass it's unreal! So stop hating on that song because if it wasn't for that song I can guarantee you that Green Day would not have as many fans. I would've never listened to Green Day in the first place if it wasn't for that song and now I love every single one of their albums.

The song (and video especially) American Idiot caught my attention, but Boulevard Of Broken Dreams is what kept it, and the reason I bought the album. And look where I am now. BOBD is very special to me in that way - it's like my reason for being a Green Day fan, for being as big of a MUSIC fan in general. I owe it a lot. On top of that though, it's just a fantastic song. Dark and meaningful and masterfully written.
