Jax Teller
In this thread I realized how easy it's to discredit a legendary album like Dookie nineteen years after its release. Dookie is much more than catchy pop-punk songs.

Kaddi.
Sweet 16 is a terrible song. It starts off okay but it's so boring by the time it gets past the first verse, and it just lacks the energy that Green Day usually bring to their music. It's also depressing. I like Nightlife. I also agree that Mike's part in Sex, Drugs & Violence is pointless and bad. I like this thread. Yes. Yes. Yes. And yes. Haha. Sweet 16 is an awful song, it's so... sweet (for the lack of a better word), it makes we wanna throw up. And I absolutely hate Mike's part in Sex, Drugs and Violence. I always turn down the volume, so I don't have to hear it. Glad it's not longer, because otherwise, it would ruin the complete song for me. Ashleycase
How can you not like Mike's part in Sex Drugs and Violence? I listen to it only for this part, otherwise I'm not a fan of that song
insomniax
A lot of people say they're pop but I can't hear it.. Or maybe I'm just very close minded when it comes to that genre... To me they're just simply Rock.
burnout409
Ooh, ooh, got another one! Oh Love is one of my favourite Green Day videos and the sexy models make it. YESSS!!! I agree!
Caractériel
Every GD album has at least one absolute turd of a song on it. Going all the way Back to 39/Smooth to the current trilogy. Songs like Rest, Hold On, Nightlife, Know Your Enemy etc. But the same can be said for a lot of bands that a like, so it's not exactly exclusive to Green Day. Billie Joe's "Heyyyoooo's" are really fucking irritating. By all means, do it once or twice, but dragging out almost every song with that whole bullshit is getting old now. Take Back is actually one of my favourite songs, I love the hard hitting nature of it, and the fact that it's so different. I actually like 21st Century Breakdown. It's a solid album, and doesn't deserve the hate it gets in my opinion. Oh, and they aren't a 'Punk' band, never have been. They are Rock and Roll/Powerpop. Nothing wrong with that though. TheJesusOfSuburbiaIsALie
Oh Love is definitely one of my favorite songs off the trilogy. I don't know why it gets so much of hate. Sweet 16 is an ok-ish song. I love the chorus but everything else is just average. Shenanigas is the best album.. come on, someone? True. I love this album, it's way too under-rated. No Rhyme Or Reason
Nearly forgot: Roshambo is such a fucking good song it pains to me think that it's not strictly speaking by Green Day. Right?! I really can't get over how perfect Roshambo is. One of the best songs they have ever done, regardless of the band name. Oh Love could quite possibly be my favourite song of the trilogy, and I will never understand why it gets so much hate. I've been wondering how anyone could not love, let alone hate, Oh Love. I think it's one of the best songs of their career. (Though there are a lot of those )
burnout409
Oh yeah and i Hate 'Walking Contradiction'! So many better songs on insomniac to be a single, and i hate the video for it even more than the song its self! It always amazes me when people say its one of their favorite Green Day music videos! Oh, and they aren't a 'Punk' band, never have been. They are Rock and Roll/Powerpop. Nothing wrong with that though. This right here!

It always amazes me when people say its one of their favorite Green Day music videos! That video is my favorite, I find the song and video brilliant, but I'm not gonna argue. Just saying, it's a pretty rad video. Also I'd like to say that love Know Your Enemy. I love it. Fuck you, SN.
Florence
The trilogy is awesome! I don't like the Stray Heart music video at all. 1st, because GD weren't in it. And 2nd, the video effects don't look professional at many points. Samuel Bayer is a great director (blah. besides Oh Love & Kill the DJ) The AI music videos are masterpieces. I love all GD songs! Even Christian's Inferno and Nightlife. The Foxie's album Stop Drop & Roll! = THE SEX and so is ¡Dos! Know Your Enemy... FUCK YEAH!! Sweet 16 is one of my favorite songs off ¡Uno! DTH
a few more; - the crowd on green day gigs is getting lamer with every year - sex, drugs and violence is a good song (i think the popular opinion is, that it is bad, unlike others said it in here). those who don't like the lyrics of it, don't really understand the meaning - billie joes fucking rockstar shit is so annoying. stretching 2 minute songs to 10 minutes just for screaming hey ho... fuck, use the time to play no pride, stuck with me, going to pasalaqua, the grouch, scattered or worry rock. i don't go to a former punk rock band (it is about the believes, not about the music) to act like a fucking sheep and do everything my "hero" (ha) does. contradicting everything how they acted and what they said before AI. spark in the night
I can't stand when Brain Stew, Hitchin a Ride, King for a Day, and Good Riddance are on the setlist. Enough already!!! There are plenty more songs that are better and deserve to be played live. (Such as Panic Song...also one of my all-time favorite songs)
What's in a name
I really don't care for 21st Century Breakdown. I haven't banished it off my iPod or anything like that, but it just seems like they really tried to play off the "Rock Opera" success of AI, but it just didn't sound anywhere near as good. I still play it from time to time, but I don't really get that "Green Day" vibe from it, if that makes sense.

They've been playing roughly the same setlist for 10+ years now, just adding in new songs as they go and the classic throwback section.

This! I'd like to add that Nimrod is definitely their most underrated album, it is my favourite one. Why do they never play songs like The Grouch, Worry Rock, Uptight or Jinx? Drop Hitchin A Ride and King For A Day instead! 21st Century and the trilogy (especially Dos and Tre) suck!
Comic Sans
Inspired by my recent status, I'm probably in the minority in believing that Panic Song is one of the best Green Day songs there is. The fact that you could take a reasonable guess at its name without ever having seen it before. It is excellent at conveying Panic, basically. (remember to explain your opinion!) My all-time fav. Nothing else to say.
FatVince
Makeout Party is the best song of ¡Dos! in my opinion.
Kerplunk!!!
King for the day is one of the worst songs on Nimrod and having the trumpet player from No doubt playing over it does not make it any bit ska, strip the horns and it would sound just like any other Green Day song. DecanoLP
Oh and I forgot something about their live shows: 1) Billie Joe should reduce his hey-ho screaming. 2) They should drop that 12 minutes version of King For A Day/Shout, it's so annoying. 3) Good Riddance is the worst show closer they have. A last song has to build up a lot of energy. They could easily use 99 Revolutions here. Or Going To Pasalacqua like they did in Sacramento in 2009. Just amazing. 4) And most importantly: The crowds are getting worse and worse every year. That's nothing new in the US, but even European crowds are kinda boring now... Stop filming and taking photos, this is a rock show, you have to dance!

timbojones
I hate absolutely everything to do with the AI musical, and choose to pretend it simply doesnt exist. if it ever actually happens Il probably feel the same about the film. .....Im really not fussed about welcome to paradise. I dont want rob cavallo to produce any more green day albums, he too close and doesnt know when to say no. (that being said id still take him producing of butch vig anyday) Green day should leave warner/reprise at the first opportunity and go to an indie label ( mst probably adeline)
Kerplunk!!!
The hate for 21 Guns is such a bandwagon. Not really, it's boring and bland compared to the majority of Green Day's catologue yet somehow gets to be one of their most radio played songs..
