WhiteTim
I'll take BIAB over AAF (I personally like the interviews) I like the interviews too but they disrupt the flow of the concert
Gwen Stacy
Kerplunk is better than Dookie. Boom.
....................
I like Billie's blonde hair better. 21stCB is a damn good album. Nightlife is growing on me. She's A Rebel is a bit boring. Jacob is good-looking. That's all I can think of right now.
Maddy.
Both fans talk about 'dark' each record was and how awesome that kind of tone made it. It's hard to explain if you've never been an Avril fan. no it's okay i fuckin love avril so yeah i get it. i just don't hang around avril fans. The Snark
1. Warning is my favorite Green Day album. 2. I love Nightlife. 3. I can only listen to Good Riddance when it's played at their concert. If it's on the radio, I have to turn it. 4. I absolutely hate Boulevard of Broken Dreams. GDgirl86
Okay, confession, I HATED Green Day in the 90's. Next confession, yeah I'm THAT old! At the time to me they sounded kind of dull and mechanical. I was so busy being into Nirvana, Soundgarden, Hole, Pearl Jam (yeah, really). I just didn't feel any emotion coming from Green Day. Looking back now and listening to their old stuff I see how much I missed if I had only paid more attention to them. I became a fan around American Idiot and until this last year did not really listen to their older stuff and now I feel like I find something new I love everyday. Oh yeah, and I think "Nightlife" is a great song!
The Snark
Oh man, I love this thread! 5. I also can't stand Rest, Take Back, and WMUWSE. 6. I cringe every time they're going to be on the cover of a magazine, because I know the headline will call them a 'punk band'. 7. I'm really sick of the eyeliner. Dude, they're all 40+ now, between the break of these three albums and a new album is gonna be at least 5 years (my prediction anyways). They'll all be nearing 50, they won't be able to take the strain of touring anymore too. I just can't imagine them be nearing 50 and creating the kind of music they produce now, that's all. I remember thinking 40 was really old when I was 16 too.
musso_kn
We're all going to disagree with each other genre wise but... What's with this whole either or fallacy that, because Green Day isn't punk, they must obviously be pop? I might like to call them an 'alternative punk band' but is it not also possible to call them just a good ol' rock band without all the sneers and snarky fucking comments? BullwinkleCheech
Okay. Now you've gone too far I wouldn't say it's a bad song. I've been listening to it for some 10 years now and I, personally, think it's getting a bit repetitive (just like the music video). At least this one was an unpopular belief ;0BTW, the Grouch is one of the best Green Day songs EVER
musso_kn
Nearly forgot: Roshambo is such a fucking good song it pains to me think that it's not strictly speaking by Green Day.
K!ngForADay
She's A Rebel is one of the worst songs Green Day have ever written. People complain about the repetitiveness of songs like Walk Away, but how many fucking times does he sing "She's a rebel" in that fucking song? Adding to that is the fact that the lyrics are essentially the same theme of that of Maria, a far superior song. I think She's A Rebel is one of the best on AI and I don't like Maria too much. Walk Away is somewhere in between.
bjrules
Oh Love could quite possibly be my favourite song of the trilogy, and I will never understand why it gets so much hate.
frunsi
american idiot is insanely overrated among green day fans and even haters. the second half of dookie is nowhere near as strong as the rest, most people just rate it so high because of the awesome lead singles when the album as a whole is really mediocre for a green day album. Platypus2000
you don't give them enough credit. Trust me, I do, they've been my inspiriation for everything I've done musically, I couldn't imagine what I'd have done or where I'd be without them I'm just trying to be realistic. The Disappearing Boy
Christian's Inferno is awful. I almost always skip She's a Rebel and Extraordinary Girl. The Network is awful.
Platypus2000
Unpopular opinions? Uhh... 1. Dookie is over-rated. Not saying it's a bad album, but it doesn't deserve anywhere near all the drooling and worshiping it gets. 2. 21st Century Breakdown beats any other of the band's work hands down. Even songs like Know Your Enemy work great in the context of the album (I heard Billie describe it as a simple rock song to 'rally the forces'). 21st Century Breakdown (the song) is an amazing piece of music, as is Restless Heart Syndrome. I just love the way Green Day do The Who. The only songs which annoy me about that album are Christian's Inferno, Last Night on Earth and American Eulogy (I don't get all the praise for this song - the repetitive choruses get really grating). Agree with you SO SO much, especially about Dookie, it kind makes me not want to listen to it. Because all I feel when I listen to it "What is so special about it?" I mean, I do like Dookie, I think it's a good album. But like you said, deserves nowhere near the worship that it does! I like Christian's Inferno and American Eulogy, especially Billie first part, so god damn catchy "Red Alert is the colour of panic, elevated to the point of static" urgh! So good. Platypus2000
There are more annoying Insomniac bummers than Dookie bummers and their attitude towards Insomniac is exactly the same as that of Avril Lavigne fans towards Under my Skin. It's a great album, regardless. Mike is the better singer. The only reason he shouldn't replace Billie Joe is that Billie has more on stage charisma. No, Dookie bummers are fucking everywhere! Thye seem to be stuck in the 90's and every now and then come out of the 90's to come and annoy people tht are fans of Green Day's new music. "Omg, Dookie wuz awesome, what happened to dem, dey turned into a bunch of gay emo d00ds wearing eyeliner and makeup and shit, dey are just trying to attract 13 year old girls". I'm like "Pfft, fuck off."
Platypus2000
I remember thinking 40 was really old when I was 16 too. As a general age, I really don't think 40 is old, but can you really imagine them being near 50 and making music like they are now, seriously? I don't want to live in a bubble where people say "Green Day will never die and will always make music", they have to stop somewhere, they're not frickin' robots. solongfromthestars
Sweet 16 is a terrible song. It starts off okay but it's so boring by the time it gets past the first verse, and it just lacks the energy that Green Day usually bring to their music. It's also depressing. I like Nightlife. I agree that 21CB is better than American Idiot, too. I also agree that Mike's part in Sex, Drugs & Violence is pointless and bad. I like this thread. Nikkilite
Shenanigas is the best album.. come on, someone? Dos it the worst album of the trilogy, lots of the songs get kinda boring after a little Nightlife is NOT a real green day song in my opinion Dookie is not Green Days best albumno offence, i love it all... Beerjeezus
I think they always were more pop than punk. I quite like Nightlife. I've seen much worse lyrics... I think Tre is the worst album from the trilogy. I've enjoyed only few songs. IMHO It feels like they try to sound like Beatles way too much. I don't like shows which Billie spends screaming hey ho and barely touches his guitar (yes I mean 21CB tour) and I think they are fucking sellouts! Shenanigas is the best album.. come on, someone?
