Cob
Just throwing this out there.... I'm apparently one of the few people on earth who isn't at all a fan of The Beatles. I'm not either. I don't listen to them, and aside from a few of their songs I don't like their music. But that doesn't stop them from being hugely talented and immensely influential. The Beatles are, in many cases, the first modern band, and they set a blue print that has been repeated by hundreds of other bands with great success. I prefer Lennon's solo work more, to be quite honest. I'm not either. I don't listen to them, and aside from a few of their songs I don't like their music. I would be an idiot if I denied their enormous unbelievable influence in music. And yea I appreciate "Let it Be" and "Come Together" , but I would never have them on my mp3 and jam out. Eva
i keep typing out posts and then deleting them because i can't believe we're really comparing green day and the ramones green day have obviously been hugely influential but without the ramones there would be no green day. it's not a competition. I think the amount of influence they had obviously goes to the Ramones, but whether they're better than Green Day or not is largely subjective. The Ramones influenced Green Day, yes, but Green Day influenced a lot more people in terms of the general population, I would say. However, there really wouldn't be Green Day without the Ramones... It's a tricky topic, in a way. It almost kinda depends on the type of peple you're refering to when it comes to who's being influenced.

Cath
Sorry guys the canadian part of me took over for a second....It's clearly All Time Low who are have the most influence the canadian part of me says it's Blink who got the most influence come on Joel. they're influent because Mark is cute. about the Beatles i'm not a big fan either. I like lots of their songs but that's it. and that may sounds stupid but i have the feeling that today young people claim to be Beatles fans just because it's common to like them cause they were really influent and popular some years ago. The Forgotten
are you trying to make me cry you're just jealous that there's no such thing as Tennessee punk bands. Canada is pretty much the birthplace of true punk music, mhm, it's true.
Eva
this is also true! i mean, if we're talking who has had the bigger influence on punk music only there's not really any arguing that would be the ramones. green day have just had a lot more mainstream success and they've probably reached a much wider audience than the ramones ever did. tricky, like you said i mean, green day are my favorite band for a reason. if i had to pick only one band to listen to for the rest of my life, it would obviously be them but that doesn't mean that i think they're "better" than the ramones or the clash or any of the other original punk bands, with the exception of the sex pistols who i can't stand. sorry, now i'm just rambling and confusing myself My heart is breaking. How can you not love them????? Sid may have been an asshole who was addicted to heroin but he was just so lovable. Also, that line "I am the antichrist. I am anarchist." I just. I love them. you're just jealous that there's no such thing as Tennessee punk bands. Canada is pretty much the birthplace of true punk music, mhm, it's true. Excuse you. Within punk music, there is no question that the original 3 are the most influential, no question, but in a larger scope, I would think that Green Day had just as big of an impact, and that impact only helped to grow and further cement the legacy of those original bands, not overshadow them.
