mylilPWNy
Green Day is no longer for punks, but rather is targeted at stupid scene kids who do not understand what "punk " really is, at an attempt to stay relevant. They are only APPRECIATED, at least, by the people who are actually open and tasteful when it comes to music selection. JUST THROWING THAT OUT THERE!!!! HolyHandGrenade
but i wonder if they truly feel that way im sure they do but it would be interesting to know which songs they like less I'm guessing that Billie Joe wouldn't exactly say Lazy Bones is his favorite, due to the subject matter. That goes for Restless Heart Syndrome too, apart from how hard it was to write/record. Other than that, I'm not sure, but on the other side of the spectrum, I know that he said 99 Revs is one of the best songs he's ever written. UNICORN VOMIT
I thought I read Billie said they wanted to write dance music without being a dance band?? They are only APPRECIATED, at least, by the people who are actually open and tasteful when it comes to music selection. HolyHandGrenade
I thought I read Billie said they wanted to write dance music without being a dance band?? Maybe that's what they think Nightlife is.Not exactly club music, but the closest they've ever come.
UNICORN VOMIT
Well they are certainly different for sure - I will just put it out there that I didn't like either of the two when I first heard them - I actually thought this is the worst thing they have ever attempted. But guess what I like them both now - don't shoot me for it.
Slave To The Network
Maybe that's what they think Nightlife is.Not exactly club music, but the closest they've ever come. Kill The DJ sounds more like club music to me than Nightlife. It actually has a good beat to it. I mean, it's not dance music either, but I think it's closer than Nightlife. HolyHandGrenade
what does this post even mean A conspiracy that they are writing songs for hipsters Like calling yourself a tennis fan when you just play ping-pong occasionallyKill The DJ sounds more like club music to me than Nightlife. It actually has a good beat to it. I mean, it's not dance music either, but I think it's closer than Nightlife. Lol I edited KTDJ out of my post after I submitted it Although it might sound better in a club, it still sounds like a rock song.
UNICORN VOMIT
If that is the case - its been a long time since Billie has been to a club - because that isn't dance music - for the record its been many years since I have been to one - maybe I am wrong or just old. Kill The DJ sounds more like club music to me than Nightlife. It actually has a good beat to it. I mean, it's not dance music either, but I think it's closer than Nightlife. HolyHandGrenade
i don't think kill the dj sounds like club music (i don't think i even really know what club music is???) but it's definitely danceable I've never even been in a legit club This conversation is just reminding me what a failure U2's album Pop was on the radio and sales wise. karma1215
I think Mike should trade mics with Billie and sing lead!!! Billie should play lead guitar but then I would miss his talkative banter... # badwishfulthinking
stories and songs
I love the lines in Ashley Ive tasted cigarettes and liquor on your breath You used to call it speed but now its crystal meth Same! I love the lines in Ashley. I also love the lines that follow those you mentioned "Back when I loved you, but you're scaring me to death." Just the way he sings the lines is really interesting and dark. I didn't like Dos very much when I first heard it. And while as a whole it may not be my favorite album of the three, it contains the highest number of "favorite songs" from any of the three trilogy albums. Lazy Bones, Ashley, Stray Heart, Amy, Wow That's Loud, Nightlife (don't shoot me, I like it!) - all phenomenal songs. I think my problem with Dos is that some of the other songs seem like filler. Makeout Party is meh. Wild One is meh. Lady Cobra I actually like sound-wise, but it has the creepiest fucking lyrics. Possibly an unpopular opinion: Fuck Time should've never been put on a Green Day album. Ever. Its fine as a FHT song, but I absolutely hate that it's on a Green Day album. Ugh. Akshat
Songs like Nightlife,Kill the DJ and Fuck Time make me proud. They don't usually make these kind of songs. But they made them anyway for the trilogy. They turned out to be way better than I expected them to be.Infact Kill the Dj went on to become a single! As a fan, I would love them to include one-two new concept songs in every album of theirs.I don't know but I'm yet to see a metal song from Green Day.Maybe we see something like that in the next album because Billie talked about 'Norweign Death Metal' in this is 40 The main reason I love the trilogy a lot is because of the variety it has in it's music. And tbh, it's better than so many green day studio albums.I know this is an unpopular opinion but I consider the trilogy to be their best after AI,Nimrod and Insomniac.Tre would be the best from the trilogy as it has the mostnumber of songs that I love. IMO, it takes real guts for any artist to release so much of material in such short time. But the guys did it anyway.People complain that the trilogy is a bit 'pop' but when you have 37 songs, a few songs are bound to sound a bit different than what you are expecting. DookieLukie
I think what the Trilogy lacks is an source of cohesion. If an album flows and develops, you don't need 12-18 hit songs. They all serve a purpose and compliment one another. Look at AI. Are We the Waiting is an amazing song, and so is St. Jimmy. Not single worthy, but together they create an epic connection. The album flows so well that every song becomes beautiful. 21CB is full of bland songs, but listening to it all together is a great experience. The Trilogy lacked any sort of cohesion and seemed like Green Day just tried to make as many hit songs as possible. Even Dookie has a flow to it both lyrically and musically.
