musso_kn
Billie Joe said himself when he wrote the Trilogy he was "shooting from the midlife crisis hip." I honestly do not mind the theme, it's something that people go through at some point and it's a different subject matter for the band. Their music has always revolved around some sort of existential crisis, and the Trilogy perfectly engulfs a different one, just as each album has done differently in the past. I don't mean to be an ass, but duh. Clean up the production on most punk bands and you end up with a hugely accessible form of rock. Part of Dookie's massive success is that classic dry-but-clean-rock sound that made albums like Metallica, Never Mind The Bollocks, Nevermind, and Paranoid hugely successful. Record Kerplunk using the same methods as Dookie and Insomniac and you've essentially got another hit on your hands. The same could be said for so many bands in the genre; it's ridiculous. Punk was supposed to be, after all, "the people's music". Hardly ass-like. It's just there's a lot of people like 'uhh, Green Day were so awesome back in the day, they're watered down shit now". I'm like, no, go listen to The One I Want, it's basically the making of a boy band with guitars. And as for your last sentence, I honestly think that every punk song I've heard is, at least in some way, catchy as shit.

Lauren
I hate how Green Day now walks in to Bohemian Rhapsody. It does NOT get me pumped up like Rock n' Roll Radio did. Plus, it's like really long. and boring. I mean, I can see why people think it's a good song, but this just isn't the right context for it. Eva
I'm going to be completely honest and say I haven't liked most of the cover songs Green Day's done. I like the ones on Shenanigans and Working Class Hero; that's about it. Maybe I just haven't heard any of the good ones though. I'm not sure. The early ones aren't very interesting (Tired Of Waiting For You for example), but I think since Working Class Hero they've learned to put their spin on covers really well. Working Class Hero, A Quick One While He's Away and Like A Rolling Stone are outstanding imo. And I really like Another State Of Mind and That's All Right as well. HARVESTER
I know. I wouldn't fix them up some more if I was him, but considering he probably paid a fortune for it, it could have looked a little better... Maybe he wanted them that way on purpose...whenever i see people me all 'honey' and 'sweety' it's like an instant 'i'm gunna punch someone in the face seriously' so apologies for being a raging twunt bag. I feel that way when I get called "dear" .... I am not a friggin DEER you moron! At least that's the thought that goes through my head when I hear it. The more I've gotten in to the punk scene, the more I've thought he's trying a bit too hard.... He used to be pretty cool, back in the day, but nowadays it seems like he's putting a bit too much effort into giving off a "punk rock" vibe. It doesn't click with me somehow. I dunno. He's never been my favorite out of three, anyway.omg you guise are such haterz. Like let him be the way he wants, gosh. billy hoe sux!!!11!!!1! You can respect something about someone and not love them. People keep saying that I love him, but they do not know me. The truth is I hate what he has done with his life... I listen to the music because it is descriptive.

What has he done with his life that you hate? I mean, it's his life so he can do whatever he wants, I don't think we're in the position to judge how he lives. I understand that you don't love him, that's perfectly fine. And I appreciate that you still respect him. I just don't see any reason to hate... Cob
I'm pretty neutral about Billie personality wise since he's an imperfect human being and he tends to flip around a lot, but I have immense respect for him and Mike. These are two kids who really came from nothing (borderline working/lower class kids) who really pushed themselves and made themselves successful. It's really inspiring for someone like me that's grown up in a similar economic situation (though thankfully my home is intact).
