Unpopular Green Day Opinions

I don't know if these are unpopular, but I just watched ¡Cuatro! and:

- The demo version of Kill The DJ that starts at 5:00 is an AWFUL lot better than the final version we got, and I hope it leaks or somehow reaches us someday because it really sounds infinitely more garage. Sounds like something that could have been performed by four 16 year olds having a blast.

- The instrumental of Nightlife sounds totally orgasmic. They really need to give us a full studio one.

Nightlife was originally an instrumental jam. It should've stayed that way.

Amanda is the worst song of the whole trilogy.

Nightlife is one of the best songs of the trilogy.

I like Amanda but it is fairly low down on my list. How could anyone not love the fabulously Beatles-like "I couldn't be your maaa-aa-aa-aan" bit though? :P That bumps it up a few places.

And agreed!

Anyone else think Makeout Party is one of the not so good songs on the trilogy? I love the song and all but I feel like it isn't as good as some of the others. Little Boy Named Train is my least favorite of the entire trilogy though.

Whatsername is good, but I think it would have been pretty epic if the album ended on Homecoming. You know, with the sound of the big bass drum and Mike singing 'Nobody Likes You...' in that stupid voice.

But that's the nature of almost all great stories. I'm willing to bet the last movie you watched had that massive explosive finale -- and then the quiet. The normalcy; what's left behind from the wreckage.

Whatsername is a perfect epilogue because it's honest. The fiery angst of youth drops off somewhere, after all, and that's where the song comes in to play.

NIGHTLIFE

Taykin' a ride to my old haunts...

I don't understand why people dislike 21st Century Breakdown  That album was my first exposure to Green Day, it holds a special place in my heart

I don't hate 21st Century Breakdown, I think it's as awesome as any other Green Day album. I know for a fact there are many people agree.

I think they should've recorded Whatsername acoustic, like Good Riddance. I never much liked the song off the album but then I saw a few videos of Billie Joe performing it live and I was like "Wow".

I thought was beautiful. Much softer, much more tender and emotional than the album version.

Nononono, god no. Those guitar crashes in the bridge are amazing. Whatsername acoustic would be boring.

I'd die for Nightlife's instrumental.

And um, I don't hate any songs from the Trilogy but recently I have grown kinda bored of the second half of Uno.

I HATE the trilogy guitars. Looking back, i appreciate 21st CB'S and American Idiots guitars but insomniac is probably my favorite. While i hate the trilogy guitars, i love the drums and bass. They sound amazing. Miles better than their last two albums.

I like She's a Rebel. I see that it got a lot of hate on the first few pages of this thread, so there.

Because it's a repetitive, boring, lazily written song. By far the weakest song on American Idiot, and one of the few Green Day songs I skip every time.

No. It's short, sweet and delightfully catchy! I also think the lyrics introduce the character of Whatshername perfectly. It is absolutely on par with the rest of the tracks on the record.

Yes. She's A Rebel kicks ass.

You think every Green Day song kicks ass.

but... they do

But She's a rebel is indeed the weakest off of American Idiot

There are many exceptions, though the vast majority are of the kick ass variety. Nothing wrong with thinking they're all great, though.

Nope. I could say the vice versa for you.

Weakest on American Idiot is Are We The Waiting for me.
