lizziebix
I wish that was the case where I live. As far as Chicago knows, 21 Guns is their biggest hit I hear Brain Stew more than any other. Okay, maybe BOBD too. Anything else - not so much. It's kind of ridiculous, actually.

I hear Brain Stew/Jaded all the fucking time. The classic rock station loves playing She, Good Riddance, Welcome to Paradise, American Idiot stuff, Basket Case, and Longview. The alternative station? Brain Stew 24/7. It must be nice living in the US.... Canada is surprisingly stingy with Green Day radio play. I have yet to hear Oh Love, Stray Heart, Kill the DJ or X-Kid on the radio... I heard Oh Love a lot and X-Kid maybe 2-3 times.
munns6691
So I wanted to make a CD of all the Green Day songs that should have been singles but weren't. This was really hard but this is what i came up with 1. 2000 Light Years Away 2. One for the Razorbacks 3. Burnout 4. Christie Road 5. Scattered 6. One of My Lies 7. Give Me Novacaine 8. Deadbeat Holiday 9. Worry Rock 10. Letterbomb 11. Walking Alone 12. Who Wrote Holden Caulfield 13. Murder City 14. American Eulogy 15. No Pride 16. Suffocate 17. Viva La Gloria 18. 80 19. Whatsername No trilogy songs because we're still not 100%sure what will and won't be a single.

zach69gumby
Westbound Sign is one of the best songs off Insomniac. Rest is a great song. Oh Love is one of the worst songs on Uno. Warning is in my Top 5 favorite Green Day albums. I dislike Know Your Enemy. 86 is my favorite Green Day song. Nimrod is my favorite Green Day album. Billie Joe sounds a bit like McCartney/Lennon in the later albums. I prefer Homecoming over JOS. Misery is one of the best songs they've ever released. joeysturkeyhead
I honestly think Kerplunk = 21CB, tied for second greatest Green Day releases. The only one that's asking American Idiot on those terms is Dookie, and the winner of best out of those two depends on how I feel when I wake up in the morning. 1039SOSH is genuinely 90% crap though. Holy hell But it's awesome!
zach69gumby
Oh, forgot one. I Want To Be Alone off 1039SOSH reminds me of Iron Maiden. The riff and drum beat, not to mention the solo, just seems like something they would do.
DookieLukie
I don't think by any means EJN would have "taken the world by storm." It doesn't have a catchy chorus and lyrically it's too complex to be a popular single. It wasn't a popular song by any means and I heard it on the very obscure rock station in my area maybe twice. I agree, Homecoming is my all time #1 Green Day song. I think JoS represents GD and American Idiot better musically as a whole, but Homecoming is just so unique, especially with Billie Mike and Tre all singing lead
DookieLukie
Oh Love is an amazing song that captures the yearning mood it set out to create. Not a great single though.
HolyHandGrenade
Oh Love is an amazing song that captures the yearning mood it set out to create. Not a great single though. I was very indifferent to it prior to the release of Uno, but when I heard the album all the way through, it made more sense, and I appreciated it better. The same argument applies to Whatsername. That song is a gem when listened to with the context of JoS's storyline in mind, but it would have fallen flat as a single

I'm not saying it's a bad song, but it felt really out of place on an album like Uno. I also thought it was a terrible choice for a single, and that something like Nuclear Family would have been a much better choice. Also, (lol I'm coming up with new opinions by the minute) I think Scattered and Worry Rock are among some of their best songs to date.

Sika
Nah, American Idiot is their magnum opus. I really don't think they'll make an album that good again. Neither do I.I don't think by any means EJN would have "taken the world by storm." It doesn't have a catchy chorus and lyrically it's too complex to be a popular single. It wasn't a popular song by any means and I heard it on the very obscure rockI station in my area maybe twice. I just can't get past the line "Like a dog that's been sodamized". That's not lyrically complex, it's just plain ridiculous...I still like the song I just cringe at that part. Ok back in my box I go...
