DookieLukie
Jesus Christ, they go and do what fans have been begging them to do, and play songs off probably their best album, an album that changed the face of music in the 90s completely, and you complain because it doesn't make any sense? Some people are never happy... Green Day are extremely hard to please. It's funny actually.
fukingcounterstrike
there's a reason why the lead singer is singing the whole time, he's their best singer. haha not saying he wasn't a good drummer, but it's clear during the song they were a lot sloppier, tre's drums were sporadic at times. Watch Tre kill it on JOS or Longview on BIAB and tell me he isn't tremendously better Variety isn't a bad thing He can keep lead, but fuck sake lets hear other voices every now and then. Maybe a couple of lines here and there or some whoas. I was so pumped to here mike sing in I dont want to live in the modern world. I wish that happened a lot lot more
Eva
I'm a native English speaker, and yet I really have to concentrate to understand what Jamie Bell and Evan Rachel Woods are saying at the beginning of the WMUWSE video. Their mumbly voices really irritate me. The entire music video for WMUWSE irritates me. The fact that it's about the war really bums me out, quite honestly. I mean, I understand why, of course, but...I don't know. The song was about his dad dying of cancer and I feel like the music video being about the war just stomped all over that. Plus, I hate it when the song stops so the actors can talk or scream or whatever they do. I haven't seen it in a while. I do remember it's my least favorite Green Day video though. Oh, the portrayal of war bothers me, too. It just makes the song feel so insincere, because I know it really doesn't have anything to do with war at all. Honestly, I think that's part of the reason I only started enjoying WMUWSE recently when I began watching more live clips, including the 2012 Irving Plaza performance. That was so painful to watch, and really added a sense of genuine emotion in the song for me, that I just didn't get from the video. And I agree about cutting off the song for the clip of whatsername crying. It just kills the mood, and the acting is terrible to boot.
Cob
What the flying fuck. Tre's always been an amazingly tight drummer, it doesn't matter if it's 1992 or 2012 he's always been top notch.
sara_gd
Now that Dookie is so popular here... I should say that it's probably my least favourite album I love it, and songs like She, Longview, Basket Case or Pulling Teeth are so perfect, but I don't enjoy it as much as their others (trilogy apart because I don't think they're great as separate albums). JackInABox86
I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but i really think this is one of their worst live performances, i really don't like it, don't know if it's because the cast from the musical is there (weird, cause i love the musical), but i think it's kind of ridiculous, and the attitude from the girls from the musical it's so weird hahaha i don't know, i really hate it, probably i would love it if the performance were just Green Day Totally agree, they all just seem so fake, like they're forcing themselves so hard to be like billie lolThe only thing I like was how they mixed some other songs of theirs into the background lyrics, that was pretty damn sweet
DannyDirnt
I think Green Day will be considered 'legends' when they're older. Like The Ramones, The Beatles or the Rolling Stones, although not necessarily in the same proportion.

Like The Ramones, The Beatles or the Rolling Stones, although not necessarily in the same proportion. Definitely. Green Day, Nirvana, and Metallica are probably the most influential music groups of the recent generation. It's also likely that Green Day is going to be inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame once they're eligible (though I don't know when that is, exactly). The music video just isn't genuine and the song cutting off for Whatsername kills the mood. I could at least try to believe the song was about losing someone in the war if the flow wasn't chopped up so horribly. WMUWSE is so much better when it's played live. The band played it when I saw them in 2009 and it was overwhelming. I don't get that feeling from the music video.

They're eligible after a 25 year career.... The question is, does that "career" begin in 1988 with their formation, or 1994 with their first major label album release

The question is, does that "career" begin in 1988 with their formation, or 1994 with their first major label album release It has to be before. You can't ignore 2 full independent releases before that, plus numerous EPs. Nirvana is eligible for induction in 2014, 25 years after Bleach was released and that wasn't major label. Also, Metallica was inducted in 2009, 25 years after the release of Kill 'Em All (I think).
Cath
i don't think they will be considered like legends. maybe it's just that where i live nobody seems to like them but actually i don't think right now they are enough respected for that.

Cath
i hope the next DVD or any other stuff related to the trilogy won't get the name cinco. that'd be pushed to far imo and those names are ridiculous. Green Day is able to choose better albums names we've seen it in the past and i don't even see the link between uno dos tre quatro and the albums story? if someone can explain me.. There is no story, but the three albums are a concept. A lot of the themes are constant between all 3 albums and inside each individual one. I hope that makes sense. I don't hate the video but it was continuing a political narrative applied to the band in 2004-05 that wasn't really that existent in the first place (I maintain that AI is much more socioeconomical or sociopolitical than outright political and it just came out during a time of turbulence, politically), and that's why I wasn't too fond of it. Like you said, it turned something personal into something that was political and I was meh about it.
The Forgotten
In my mind I kinda made a story out of it.... but nah, I don't care if it's called Cinco Disliking the WMUWSE music video is not an unpopular opinion. The story is irrelevant to what the song is about, the acting is cheesy and so long that it pulls you out of the song, and it's just overall a crap video.
