US rescheduled tour dates, Ticketmaster cancellation claims, and messages from venues

I just checked ticketmaster and they show most of the canceled shows as canceled, but Las Vegas is still TBA. Maybe there is still hope!

They knew that already, though, because the shows that were canceled were selling out pretty quickly as well.

Oh, I agree, and I'm upset about it, too, especially because their show in my town got canceled. I'm lucky enough to still get to see them at another venue, though, so that puts it in perspective for me. Anyone who has no chance of seeing them on this leg, that really sucks, but we know they'll be back, and hopefully to the places they canceled at this time. It's not like Italy, who've gotten fucked over for something like 3 years now. They'll probably be back in the US by fall of next year.

Yeah and I can only imagine how much better they will be by then :)

I think it might have been a better idea as well. Randomly scheduling 11 gigs and cancelling 10 because they were concerned for Billie's health is just...weird. Not the being concerned for his health part, but how were these shows even rescheduled? There are so many questions that I doubt we will ever get an answer to. I don't even consider this a first leg of a North American tour. Maybe a first...foot? Haha I don't know, this whole situation is a gigantic clusterfuck because of how the management has approached this. I wonder if they are regretting this now or what. Perhaps doing 6 or 7 shows a couple weeks before the European festivals, and then coming back to do a full North American tour would have been a better approach, but I'm not sure.

We're like the gangrene (no pun intended) foot where no one knows really what the fuck is going on, what's going to happen ... it could clear up or it could be a disaster

I know haha. I guess I can be slightly excited because a lot of the Euro festival dates will be live streamed, and we'll be able to hear a lot of the new trilogy songs live in good quality :D Not the same as being at a show..but at least it's something!

See my earlier posts in this thread. What venues lived and which ones got axed wasn't random. Some deliberate choices must have been made, the critical factors being: geographically close and all available within less than three weeks of each other (which, I presume, is how long Billie and the band feels they can safely be on tour again before breaking for their next progress check and group-hug).

Yeah, actually, that makes sense. Unless they announce that the West Coast dates will immediately follow the rescheduled dates but Im not sure.

Hmm, like have the West Coast dates in May before Europe? Could be, because that's another thing that's still confusing me ... why is it only the West Coast was highlighted in that announcement? Like, if you were gonna do all of America eventually, you'd say "Full American tour coming soon," since areas like the South were avoided, too, but this specifically said West Coast, a smaller area, so you may be on to something.

LOL at me trying to make sense of this clusterfuck, though

Well there *is* room in that 2-month gap between the last of the shows on the revamped leg and Europe where they could conceivably do another 2-week run. Whether they actually put something there I suppose depends on what Billie, the band, and the folks working with them think he'll be able to handle.

Yeah like the reschedule dates span from March 28th to April 12th. And the dates in Italy aren't until May 24th. Would they possibly set the West Coast dates and possibly Southern dates in the middle of that? Between April 12th and May 24th?

Also interesting, as I understand it the band's longtime tour manager, Bill Schneider, quit working with them late last summer or in the early fall, sometime around when the wheels first started coming off the bus. I don't know who's handling the tour for them now, but if I were Green Day I'd make some peace with Schneider asap and get him back on the team.

I didn't realize that, wow.

Who the fuck knows  I mean, I don't want anyone quoting us on this/holding us to it, but hey, you never know.

No shit, really??? Wow, this whole situation just started making sense now.

Haha true that man. You never know. Between April 12th and May 24th is a lot of time!

I think some of you are overreacting... maybe and this is just a theory the concert producers were worried about filling certain arena shows.... at any rate Green Day will eventually make up for the show cancellations... so try not to be too discouraged. Maybe this is a test run tour to see if the crowd showing is withstanding otherwise I wouldn't worry about it... Billie's stamina and health is still key here. The shows will go on... it will just probably be at a later date. I held on to my ticket..wouldn't sale it and now my show is set for April. You all should hold on and see what the pending dates are and not overreact. That is all...end of discussion!!! Rant on if you wish... pretty much done!!!

At the end of the day, be happy that the band are even coming back to tour in the first place. They could have just as easily cancelled everything.

Man, this is the last time I waste 20 bucks on Idiot Club. What a waste!

I got more exclusive info just coming to these damn forums than I did on Idiot Club!

It wouldn't be fair to fans who already purchased tickets to refund them and then put them all on sale again just to give all the additional people who might be coming an equal shot.

Yeah and it also isn't fair to promise the shows to be rescheduled and then just cancel the show altogether. This whole situation just blows in all different kinds of ways...

I had such a "Oh thank God I don't have to worry about refunds or making crazy travel arrangements" attitude :( now I have to shell out hotel money, more gas money, etc. (And by "have," I mean "I'm crazy enough to do so.") so that was dumb of me!

Such a short tour, and they canceled the date closest to me :( but I'm glad they're back on track

So, for the dates that are still on, but have been rescheduled, will they start selling tickets to the general public once the new date comes up on ticketmaster??

I had tickets to NH, but it was cancelled, and I'm being refunded, but I need to purchase tickets to the VA show.

What do you guys think?

Will they go on sale again?

They tried to reschedule the dates. I can understand frustration over anticipating a show being rescheduled and then finding out that it's cancelled, but be thankful that they at least tried to reschedule the show.

It doesn't really seem fair for the fans who purchased tix, then had their dates cancelled, and their money refunded. Alot of us fans feel completely fucked right now. I know that I do, considering the fact that I won't be able to travel up North like it was originally planned to. The closest venue to me is in Fairfax, and that's a 7 hour drive, which of course isn't the problem here.

The problem is that the Fairfax date isn't on sale yet, and I'm not even sure it will be. It might be sold out or something, and ticketfailure is taking ages to get back to me.

My show in State College was cancelled. I'm so mad at myself. I should have just gotten tickets to the Pittsburgh show. I don't know how all this works with getting money back and stuff too. I've never had this problem :/

I personally cannot wait for the tour because the situation reminds me of my other favorite band that went through something similar...

This is really going to date me and some of you probably never even heard of this band, but they're fucking awesome....

In 1996 Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan went into rehab for heroin. During the tour before he went into rehab, he was gaunt, long haired, bearded, overly sweaty on stage, and was close to death. He even attempted suicide. In 1997, Depeche Mode returned with a new album and their first television appearance on American TV was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Dave was clean cut, short haired, healthy, and had a smile on his face. You could just see that he was happiest doing what he loved most. I looked on YouTube for this performance but couldn't find it, but it was a magical moment for Depeche Mode fans.

I predict that during this upcoming tour, Billie will be at his best, will put on his best shows, and he will feed off of all the love and support WE as fans will give him.

Although I will see them 2 nights in a row in April, I envy that first show they will do in March because the place is going to go fucking nuts.

I can't fucking wait.

I'm lucky enough that I'll be at the first and second show of the tour. I can't wait to be one of the first people to see Green Day come back to the world!
