Heather.
Agreed with all of your points -- Billie's been handling this as if it really was his "rock bottom", and however the band rebounds from it, they're simply going be behaving differently -- I expect more subdued, less barely-in-control-explosive, more "mature" if you will -- both on and off stage. They're going to have no choice but to if Billie really intends to stay on the wagon from here on out. And that, m'friends, is going to be challenging for a band whose drummer often speaks of mushroom enjoyment and where the band itself is named after sitting around getting high all day. Billie mentioned in numerous interviews how he needs to slam a shot or two before a gig to calm and channel his nerves right before getting on stage -- as a recovering addict he simply can't do that anymore and will need to find some other way to focus himself and manage his anxiety before performing. That said, I hope they'll all rise to the challenge -- they're professionals, they've been working alongside each other for more than two decades, they've always loved what they do, they're damn good at it, and the music world's a whole lot better when they're rocking out in it as a band. If I could just like this a million times... Nice to see the Providence show was rescheduled to April. Now we have an official time frame and most of us won't have to wait until next fall. They're obviously doing some kind of March/April or April/May tour before going to Europe. It will be very interesting to see how they perform, what they tell their audiences about this hiatus (if anything), and how they choose to "make it up" to fans, or not. They don't really owe us anything in terms of explanation, it's a personal matter, but I like to think they will come out guns blazing and say "WERE BACK MOTHERFUCKERS, IM SOBER, CLEAN, FEELING BETTER THAN EVER AND READY TO KICK ALL YOUR ASSES." Or, you know, "I'm a cool professional now and this is going to be a very mature, awesome show anyway." I'd be really bummed out if Billie came out of this unhappy and feeling like his magic potions were taken away from him. Maybe he'll develop a Red Bull addiction (Or maybe that's what he was seeking treatment for. We don't know for certain.)

blitzkriegdeb
Such a shame to anyone who's show has been cancelled, I can't even imagine the frustration you're all feeling. At the same time though, it has to be understood that the band and they're management are probably working their asses off to try and get these new dates and stuff worked out. And sometimes, unfortunately, a postponed date that would work out for both parties can't always be worked out. I can understand the frustration and anger, but seriously, don't blame the band or their management. This has been a pretty messy time for everyone, from the band to us fans, and it's pretty evident that they're at least trying to make up the dates. I highly doubt they're just sitting around going "hey lets cancel this show for shits and gigs". There's some legitimate reason why shows got cancelled, and whether we like it or not, it's beyond our control.

AfterShock
i was wondering the same thing Well it appears that at least some of the dates are finalized, and if the band doesn't announce anything official then I guess we're waiting on Ticketmaster/the venues to announce them. There's some legitimate reason why shows got cancelled, and whether we like it or not, it's beyond our control. Exactly. I find it admirable that they're doing a fine job rescheduling so many of the US dates for as soon as they could. It would have been MUCH simpler for them to just re-book an entirely new tour for next fall featuring completely different cities (seeing as they obviously have yet to book the Southeast, etc.). They're trying to make the best of a bad situation and if only 3 shows get canceled out of 20 or whatever, they did a good job. The logistics of this must be a nightmare, because these are big venues that have a lot of other concerts and events to host. How long until we get a full list of shows and dates u guys think? I have a feeling we will know our own individual dates from Ticketmaster long before the Idiot Club announces it, seeing as Providence people already know it's April 9.
