Gregorovich
The lyrics to Drama Queen are very disturbing. Can't believe I've just noticed this. Is it insinuating what I think it's insinuating? I think so. That's the reason I like the song so much; each line is so ambiguous - and the ambiguity in itself is really disturbing. Like the line 'Daddy's little bundle of joy' - the relationship between the two main possible interpretations of that line is really quite hard-hitting. Contrast that with the light-hearted nature of the melody? Holy shit.
Breakdown_EE
Isn't "drama queen" a girl who (hard to explain in english, I know it from series), for example, waits for her boyfriend down the stairs to control him? Let's imagine, after school, she asked him what he would do that night and he replied he would stay at home. So, taht night she went to his house, positioned, to check if he said the truth. no this is just a very sceptical girl... drama queen is someone who turns something unimportant into a major deal like: Omg i forgot my nailpolish at home i'm gona die... but the song itself means something complete diferent

Ryder556
Lyric Corrections 8th Ave Serenade Say hello from your window Say goodbye from your car Say goodnight from your pillow Say so long from the stars Take a walk out of my life Sing to me a lullaby Cradle songs for a mid life Don't forget to pass me by As my imagination runs away On this 8th avenue serenade Meet me at the bathroom stall Meet me at the whispering wall Before all the flames burn out! [x2] Amanda Amanda, don't you know? That I still walk around This foggy round-about When I get back in town I was a different man From five seconds ago And you're a different woman that's for certain And I don't know a thing about Is this the kinda love that only hate would understand Amanda, I couldn't be your man Amanda, don't you know I wasn't strong enough And in your wild mind I wasn't smart enough I was a different kid From 15 years ago And you're a different woman that's for certain I wanna know about Is this a kinda love that only hate would understand Amanda, I couldn't be your man I'm not playing with your mind Unless you think I am Cause you're crushing my heart Like a battering-ram Is this a kinda love that only hate would understand Amanda, I couldn't be your man Walk Away This time I gotta my guard down Pick myself up off the ground And take the pain It'll pass The swelling never really lasts But the scar remains remind me That I'm still living Well, it's not too late Oh, it's really not worth the fight No one's right Well, it's time to walk away Walk away [x4] Will the big attraction come A liar gonna fall Walk away [x2] Did you win Or maybe did you lose? Now you're gonna lick your wounds anyway It goes back to you Where'd you fall? You're gonna need a parachute Or a used pair of shoes to go and walk away! Well, it's not too late Oh, it's really not worth the fight No one's right Well, it's time to walk away Walk away [x4] Will the big attraction come A liar gonna fall Walk away [x2] Walk away! Ohhhh, walk away! [x2] Will the big attraction come A liar gonna fall Walk away [x5] I want to do Dirty Rotten Bastards, but it's a long song and has lots of hard to understand phrases. So it'll take sometime. I'll tackle that later. In the mean time, here's Little Boy Named Train Where did you come Where have you been It looks like you fell into the trash bin I'm catching a train I'm crashing in the car Packing for daylight Shooting for the stars Like a life long daisy chain Of my imagination A rat inside a maze I've got no destination Cause I'm a little boy named Train Ask me again I'll tell you the same Little boy named Train Don't know where I come from But I know where I have been Say! Serious people are funny to me Funny people seem so serious I'm always lost and nothing will change Give me directions and I'll get lost again Like a life long daisy chain Of my imagination A rat inside a maze I've got no destination Cause I'm a little boy named Train Ask me again I'll tell you the same Little boy named Train Don't know where I come from But I know where I have been Say! Like a life long daisy chain Of my imagination A rat inside a maze I've got no destination Cause I'm a little boy named Train Ask me again I'll tell you the same Little boy named Train Don't know where I come from But I know where I have been I said I don't know where I come from But I know where I have been IMO this song is about always being told what to do, and as such, you never get any experience living. So you'll always be lost. Dirty Rotten Bastards. Didn't take as long as I thought Yeah(x9) Calling all demons, this is the season Next stop is therapy We're the retarded and the broken hearted The season of misery Here's to the wasted, I can almost taste it The rejects, the wastes of times You'll take it further, get away with murder And no one is getting out alive Here's to all God's losers ra da da di A bottom feeders frenzy Here's to all bloodsuckers sing along with me Cause we don't say no scream One, two, three Yeah[x6] Hey We're too old till we misbehave We sold our souls and somehow shamed ourselves So we wait for this judgment day Write me a letter and send it to my graveyard All fucked beyond intervention Fuck the world this is my revolution We're all lost souls and living in cages "I'm all but better" is one for the ages I've got the urge To bitch and surge The tables turn To crash and burn Julianna homicide Make my demons come to life Well Julianna homicide I want you to be my blushing bride I'm drawing a line in my best friends ashes Dust to dust when the red light flashes What the fuck does OK stand for When the afterlife is only worth dieing for I've got the urge To bitch and surge The tables turn To crash and burn Julianna homicide Make my demons come to life Well Julianna homicide I want you to be my blushing bride Alright Well California's burning to the ground And Julianna walks on holy ground Where there's smoke there's fire burning at the light Cause California's burning down tonight Tonight Calling all demons, this is the season Next stop is therapy We're the retarded and the broken hearted The season of misery Here's to the wasted, I can almost taste it The rejects, the wastes of times Gonna take it further, get away with murder And no one is getting out alive Here's to all God's losers ra da da di The bottom feeders frenzy Here's to all bloodsuckers sing along with me Cause we don't say no Scream one, two, three We're carried away Carried away Carried away [x6] Also, DRB changed a lot. That Dude
what does "x - kid" mean? In an interview, Billie Joe said that he feels as though he's not exactly an adult, not quite a generation X'r. He considers himself an X-Kid rather than a grown man. So it means something like "former child".

Ryder556
interesting. i think he did it on purpose. mysterious: this is the season (hey we are back), next stop is therapy. (uhm yup you were right billie) i think thats really creepy right here! I always had suspicions that the iHeart radio thing was all a publicity stunt. Those disappeared after they canceled or postponed all remaining tour dates right up until February. They wouldn't do something like that to gain publicity. Also what's the earliest announced show next year? Isn't it like 3 or 4 months after February? If so, how long do they think Billie will be out of commission? DTH
i had suspicions, too. but thats not what i wanna say. it just sometimes really creepy artists writing lyrics and then exactly what they wrote happens. like songs about death, too. and i'm interested how you guys interpretate this whole song? maybe its easier for native speakers... but i'm thinking its a very personal song about the band... right here: "We're too old till we misbehave We sold our souls and somehow shamed ourselves So we wait for this judgment day Write me a letter and send it to my graveyard"

Oh yeah that. Yeah that is really creepy. But anything can happen. If you've been writing music for 25 odd years like Billie, you're bound to predict at least one thing. And about the meaning of the song. I don't think it's about the band. Just a certain kind of people. There were some lyrics left out, which are A Montra for the private world Here's to the ramblers The Hurdy Gurdy Gamblers the love sick and dirty minds we're torn up in tatters we're Dirty Rotten Bastards And then this was also left out Send me your crippled Sucking on the nipple The teet of the modern age Your tired your troubled Making it a double Of shots from a long lost wage I'm just a rambler, a hurdy gurdy gambler a love sick and dirty swine Wape ---- up in ----- We're dirty rotten bastards Singing for the deaf, dumb and blind I'm gonna say it's some kind of anthem for the working class. PanicAttack!
i think it means "any kid" .. dedicated to anyone, so to everybody... but that's just what i think I think it means "former kid", somebody who's not a kid anymore, yet with the line "and you never even got started again" never got to grow up. So somebody stuck in that transitional phase.
BlackBaboon
Sex, Drugs, and Violence is a really appropriate song for Billie right. It's about reflecting and sort of suffering through a midlife crisis and how trying to relive his youth is teaching him hard lessons because he can't fit in there anymore so he just does drugs gets violent and has lots of sex just like someone might go back to English Math or science to relive grade school days or years of youth. Not too sure about the whole too dumb to die part, but I think it might have a connection to the old Who line I hope I die before I get old. Like Billie is saying that he's still living so he has to suffer through adulthood all while trying to understand the younger generation through dangerous acts. I really like the clever phrasing. BlackBaboon
Julianna Homicide might refer to the character Julianna from Homicide. Not sure but it would make some sense as she was prone to speeding and drinking while driving which seems to be in line with the Dirty Rotten Bastards theme of recklessness.X-Kid is interesting because we know it's a personal song for Billie and the death of his friend. So was it that while Billie fell in love and met Adrienne who kept him living, his friend also fell in love but was not met with love in return ie 'It didn't catch your fall.' The second verse seems to be more about the general idea of being an X-Kid, not really being an adult but not being a kid either. The chorus makes me think of a 20 year old who is considered an adult but doesn't really understand how to be one so they just say 'Bombs away, here goes nothing,' I'll try to be an adult and bear all the responsibility but I might not be able to. Then dying of a broken heart sort of reinforces my idea that his friend either died because of a bad relationship or maybe even losing his relationship with his childhood innocence. I think there's a lot to pick apart in there, but that's all I can think of for now.
BlackBaboon
Walk Away is another interesting song lyrically: it sounds like it could just be about a fight between a husband and wife and they just need to let it go, but it starts to escalate and then a tiny argument can turn into something as ugly as a divorce. Then it goes on to explain that winning an argument in a loving relationship doesn't even feel good: "You're gonna lick your wounds anyway" "No one is right." I could see how someone might also interpret this as an anti-war song of sorts because often times war springs up from silly little conflicts that end up killing thousands of people and it might just be better if both sides let it go because either way people are going to die. In either case, I really like the emotion in this song.
Ryder556
What does Billie shout at the start of Missing You? Before the verse. It sounds like "In style" but it definitely won't be. Probably the same thing he shouts during concerts. Say hey oh. He did it on Stay the Night, and I think one or two other songs on the trilogy. skindogfuss
I think this is X-Kid... Hey little kid, Did you wake up late one day And you’re not so young But you're still dumb And you're numb to your own glory Well now it’s gone I fell in love But it didn’t catch your fall Then I crashed Into a wall Then I fell to pieces on the floor Now you’re sick to death Bombs away Here goes nothing The shouting’s over The X-Kid Bombs away Here goes nothing The shouting’s over and out Over and out again I once was old enough To know better then I was Too young to care But who cares? Probably would but all he would Is dead and gone You fell in love But then you just fell apart Like a kick In the head You’re an X-Kid and you Never even got started again Bombs away Here goes nothing The shouting’s over The X-Kid Bombs away Here goes nothing The shouting’s over and out Over and out again And you were searching your soul And you got lost and out of control. You went over the edge of joking, Died of a broken heart! Hey little kid Did you wake up late one day And you’re not so young But you're still dumb You're an X-kid and you Never even got started again Bombs away Here goes nothing The shouting’s over Hey X-Kid Bombs away Here goes nothing The shouting's over Hey X-Kid Bombs away Here goes nothing The shouting's over Hey X-Kid, Bombs away Here goes nothing, The shouting's over and out Over and out Over and over and out! Ryder556
Some minor corrections to Walk Away. Don't know how I didn't catch it earlier this morning This time I gotta put my guard down Pick myself up off the ground And take the pain It'll pass The swelling never really lasts But the scar remains remind me That I'm still living Well, it's not too late Oh, it's really not worth the fight No one's right Well, it's time to walk away Walk away [x4] Well the bigger that you go All the harder you're gonna fall Walk away [x2] Did you win Or maybe did you lose? Now you're gonna lick your wounds anyway It goes back to you When you fall You're gonna need a parachute Or a used pair of shoes to go and walk away! Well, it's not too late Oh, it's really not worth the fight No one's right Well, it's time to walk away Walk away [x4] Well the bigger that you go All the harder you're gonna fall Walk away [x2] Walk away! Ohhhh, walk away! [x2] Well the bigger that you go All the harder you're gonna fall Walk away [x5] Now if this was the same Walk Away that was supposed to be on Cigarettes and Valentines, it just makes me want to hear that album more than ever. Matter of fact last night I had a dream about the album leaking out and the mass hysteria that followed.
DxBecks
i think it means "any kid" .. dedicated to anyone, so to everybody... but that's just what i think And yea, im going to try to write lyrics to Dirty Rotten Bastards .. I think it has a triple meaning "X-kid" as in someone that was once a kid, "x-kid" as in a person who has died and last but not least "X-Kid" as in a person from Generation X."We're too old till we misbehave We sold our souls and somehow shamed ourselves So we wait for this judgment day Write me a letter and send it to my graveyard" I think this is perhaps the most interesting lyric in the album. I'm not quite sure what to make of it.
