¡TRÉ!

Just checked the UK itunes, The Forgotten and Missing You seem to be the favourite downloads. It's currently at no 11 on the itunes chart (at nearly 11am on Monday morning here).

It's not like we don't already have the songs...

Haha I know, but I still want more singles so I can hear them on the radio more! The DJ on my local radio loves Green Day but only ever plays Kill the DJ and Stray Heart from the trilogy. Plus more singles may mean more videos when Billie's better!

Following my first listen rundown from Friday (which you can read here) I have now uploaded my review of Tre, which you can read here.

LBNT/Amanda are boring but the Forgotten is good? IMO The Forgotten is quite a generic 'let's try and write imagine/let it be' and a bit lame

I don't get why everyone says The Forgotten is Billie trying to imitate The Beatles. I think it's just a purely beautiful song and 100% Green Day. I understand that many people don't like it, because they don't like slow songs or ballads in general, but I don't see anything boring about it.

I've found this news on a Japanese site so I don't know if I understood correctly (thanks Google translate): in the Japanese release of TRE there will be 4 bonus tracks: Stop When The Red Lights Flash, Carpe diem, Kill The DJ and 99 Revolutions. All the songs were recorded at the secret show in Shibuya on August 16.

Just got my (ordinary) copy of Tré in the mail! Yay :woot:

I've been looking through the booklet, and found a couple of interesting facts about Brutal Love that I don't think anybody's mentioned yet. Firstly, Tom Kitt is credited both for the piano and backing vocals on that song. Secondly, the credits say "All words by Billie Joe Armstrong. All music by Green Day except "Brutal Love" written by Billie Joe Armstrong and Sam Cooke". Now, I've already heard people say it sounded like a Sam Cooke song, but are any parts exactly the same? Is it part of the music, the lyrics, or both that Billie's borrowed from him? I'm not very familiar with Sam Cooke, and haven't listened to Brutal Love yet, so I wouldn't know.

Looking forward to my first listen tonight! Apart from the 2009 live version of Drama Queen, I haven't heard any of these songs before at all, so it shall be interesting. :D

Loving Tre! I like every song on it so I think it is my favourite out of the three. Does anyone know the meaning of "Little Boy Named Train"? I think Billie explained it once, but I can't remember what he said.

This has happened before, too. David Bowie is credited against 21 Guns on the Warner publishing site, for their referencing of All The Young Dudes

yeah, but not all artists credit other artists for those things, i think it's great that Green Day do that :3

and what reference to All The Young Dudes?

Green Day aren't the only band who have made a song with the same melody as Sam Cooke's Bring It on Home..

just listen to The Wildhearts - Sky Chaser High.

Buuut, Green Day said that we would hear what their influence were so.. i guess it's ok

There's nothing wrong with that.Sam Cooke is a GREAT artist and the music that he created is inspiration.Brutal Love is one of my favorite songs on Tre. :)

Little Boy Named Train

4/10

This is one of these songs again. No reasons to put songs like this on an album, it sounds like a B side. There's absolutely nothing special about it, its just boring and uninspired.

How can you say it's uninspired? In my opinion this is the most inspired song for Billie to write on the album, do you even know what the song is about?

Why is everyone so fucking bothered about the singles? You can listen to the songs regardless of whether they're singles or not, but everyone's like "I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hope X-Kid is a single!". Why? No point to it.

I'd like to know actually, what is it about?

I had a hi-fi system in storage in the garage which now has a new lease of life, giving me a chance to listen to music while I service & clean my mountain bike. Yesterday Tre was playing and I just say again, I love the whole album, though when it is bouncing off the garage walls it makes me think I need to put some acoustic material on the breeze blocks.

My daughter was impressed (with the noise) until I told her that I was enjoying Tre so much it I thought it might even be GD's finest, to which she asked if I had heard Dookie & AI recently. It will be interesting to see what I think in a couple of months time.

To be honest, no I don't know what it is about neither did I care to find out, because I just didn't like it. But tell me what it's about, so maybe my impression of it will change a bit. It might have inspired lyrics btw, which still doesn't make it sound better. I just don't like to listen to it, that's it.

Biilie said in an interview that is was about a kid that his son went to school with. His parents were transexual (I believe) and they cut off their son's penis so he couldn't be identified with either gender. He would always go by a different name, and Train was one of the ones Bille wanted to right about.

I've just sat down for my first listen of Tre................but I have to pause unexpectedly because OH MY GOD Brutal Love is so wonderful   . It could be in the running for my favourite Green Day song of all time. It's beautiful. How am I going to manage to listen to the rest of the album when all I want to do is listen to Brutal Love a hundred times in a row? I'm gonna try :P
