Lately ive been thinking...

Sex, drugs and violence = wild, reckless life

English, math and science = educated, safe life

Safety with numbers = you check stats of whatever to feel safe..

(BUT) gimme gimme danger = you want to live this wild reckless life

What do you think? :)

Earlier one was better. Sex = English, Drugs = Math, Violence = Science.

Dammit, why can't sex or drugs = science, that's what I do for a living. (science, not sex or drugs :ninja:). :P

The only thing I've noticed is that his singing has got a lot better. I don't think I've ever noticed his voice going up and down on one word (I have no idea what the technical term for that is  ) before. Like in Drama Queen, he sings qu-ee-ee-ee-ee-n on different notes. And his vocals sound much cleaner, probably because of the production. But I love it. You can even hear the saliva in his mouth and the sound of his breathing.

Edit: that last bit came out way creepier than I intended...

Yeah, I think his singing has improved a lot since American Idiot. Nothing bad about it though, so I don't get why people don't like it.

How on earth does Sex = English more than it does Math or Science? If anything it'd be science. Biology. That interpretation has got to be wrong. :P

spark in the night, on 06 December 2012 - 09:10 AM, said: Sex = English. You use words to explain how you feel during sex. Drugs = Math. Gotta know how to count grams, ounces, pounds, and money Violence = Science. It rhymes. And science built the atomic bomb.

i hope X-kid will be a single

Mmm ¡Dos!had just one single -"Stray Heart", and that's alll. Even if it supposed to have several.

I'm afraid that ¡Tré! will not have plenty single and maybe there won't be a thing if they count "The Forgotten".

I mean, don't hope 3 singles, 3 music video, etc...

Obsvously the "3 single per record" have been cancelled.

Sad.

I don't think I really noticed that Billie changed the way he sings. What exactly is different?

its way more high pitched than ever. its also wayyy tooo clear. UNO and DOS would be so much better off with a more raw voice because of the style of music. His new voice fits great with TRE though

But you could also just as easily say: Sex = Science, it's basic human biology and instinct. Drugs = English, "you use words to explain how you feel during" a high, namely writing songs like GD's early stuff (the band's name says it all). Violence = Math, fighting is a way to overcome a problem, much like how math is finding the correct solution to equations. That's just as loosely connected as the other version. :P

IMO the entire chorus means one thing, and he uses four lines to describe what he means. Broken down it's like people are clutching at straws to get each sentence to mean something. Poets do it too, it's not like the words mean any less for it.

It doesn't rhyme "sex drugs and violence science english and math."

I absolutely love how this one turned out, it's even better than the live version. Beautiful. The only reason why it doesn't get 10/10 is because the line "She's old enough to bleed now" always makes me cringe. I now he's probably not singing about periods, but I just can't get that image out of my mind.

He's totally singing about periods. Oh god when I first heard that I had that 'ew-dad-gross' reaction, which I'm not sure will ever go away.

I don't like the high notes in Drama Queen though, they come off whiny to me. Which is weird because he's done them before, he can do them, just... I dunno...

I'd like to know everyone's thoughts in a few weeks, if not months.

With ¡Uno!, for the first week or so, it's awesome. After that, opinions go down hill. But then come back up as we realize it's a great. At least with me.

Every time I get irritated by the sex drugs violence english math science rhyme, I remind myself of The Turtles "So happy together... how is the weather" desperate rhyme use, and I feel better :P

I think they should've referenced She and had the lyrics "Sex drugs and violence, she still screams in silence, pleading bloody murder, gimme gimme danger"

If i made that up off the top of my head think about how many better things they could've come up with. Other than that, I think Tre may be my favorite Green Day album, up there with AI and 21CBD (come at me)

It'd also be referring back to Nuclear Family in a way as well with the "bloody murder" line. I'm a sucker for references to older songs though, like "Whatshisface" first appearing on Whatsername and then Loss of Control, so I guess I wouldn't have minded those lines. I like it the way it is too.

I want a multi-track of 99 Revolutions, because I believe slapping some filters on the guitar track to make it really let loose would almost make the ad nauseum repetitions of the chorus tolerable.

Sad to say, I'm still just having a hard time getting too excited about, well, anything on Tre. None of the songs on it really speak to me, lyrically or musically. I don't think anyone will go around saying that Uno had the most profound lyrics ever written by Green Day, but they captured some great rhythms and made it a really fun, balls-out album, if not their absolute best work. Tre should've felt like that too, but for whatever reason, they dialed the arrangements back instead of just letting the guitars go into beast mode.

After I listened to Tre while feeling a bit depressed, I realized that this is really a reflective album and a sad one.

Billie's talent in song writing is getting a lot better. It sounds cheerful but at the same time it's so sad.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but what about a link between Drama Queen and X Kid?

I know what X Kid is about from what Billie said in that interview, but when I listened to the whole album and found them one after the other it came so natural to me. Plus lyrics, especially that line, and you’re numb to your old glory... Well I always listen to them together now :P

Well, after a couple if listens, I have to say Tré is a damn good record. Definitely the best of the trilogy. Eventhough my expectations were incredibly high because of all the hype here at GDC, I wasn't let down. I understand what the band meant with Tré being the more epic record. It's more complex and exciting in a musical way than Uno and Dos with songs like Brutal Love or Dirty Rotten Bastards.

According to my iTunes rating, Tré is a pretty good 4,1/5 :)

Why is Little Boy Named Train so disliked :'( It's one of my favorites.

X-Kid you say, eh? If that's true, hehe...

X-Kid is a great single choice. :)

Well, I don't think ¡Tré! is a bad record by any means, but I don't like it as much as the other two. None of the songs really grabbed me like the ones on ¡Uno! and ¡Dos!. Maybe it will grow on me the more I listen to it, though. :) That often happens with music for me.

Don't know where to post this but Green Day's Twitter account just tweeted "Follow @xBlakeLively if you want a new single!!" and then deleted the tweet.

EDIT: Heres a picture of the tweet: http://twitpic.com/bkmx11
