¡TRÉ!

i like to look critically at things green day does. but that is just the biggest bullshit i ever read on this forum.

my guess: you don't have a clue what the lyrics are about.

I'm literally counting down the seconds until someone decides to tear him a new asshole. This is fun.

Take it on a PM, this is the Tre thread.

oh so you like to feel important, right?

fuck, theres no need for pm, its nothing personal. then just because we go for a bit off topic and dont post "Omg tre is best album of my life. ergasmn omg" all the time, we should quit a side conversation? thats how you keep boards boring. great work. keep it up.

I'm saying to you, that if you wanna bitch about AI, don't do it in this thread. If it's so important to voice your opinions on an 8 year old album that some love and some don't post a blog.

I mean, musically there are some great gems scattered about but the lyrics are embarassing (whining about nothing in particular). Have you ever seen an annoying, vague attention-seeking Facebook status like "I can't handle these things anymore...someone txt me for more info"? That's what this entire album feels like. Also, on that record BJ seems to think he's bigger and more powerful than he really is, that's why a better title for the album would've been "Delusions of Grandeur".

This is my opinion, please don't get too angry. I do accept that a lot of people love this album.

Dafuq?! The lyrics to American Idiot are embarrasing?! Yeah...JOS, St Jimmy, Homecoming, Holiday and American Idiot had terrible lyrics man...im ashamed to say they are Green Day songs...seriously?! Also Billie whined about nothing...well you might have gotten away with saying "what is he whining about he has a perfect life blah blah" a few months ago if you were naive (and dont believe what appears to be blatently obvious) that he doesnt write cheap songs to sell millions- he writes from the heart and from personal experience etc. The exact details of his personal problems or "major issues" (as described by Mike) may not be known to the general public but we know he has serious issues as well as substance abuse problems which most likely did not arise overnight. The trilogy is littered with referrences to his issues and knowing what we know people have recognised this...had he not been in rehab by the release of Uno, Dos and Tre would you say he was just whining in Lazy Bones etc etc. And as for delusions of grandeur...a Broadway musical based on the album kind of disproves your logic there...i don't think they felt Billie over-reached.

First of all, I have to say that iTré! definitely is my favorite of the three triology albums. I loved iUno! and I also loved iDos! - both of them in their very own way. But listening to iTré! feels special. Well actually, more than that. It seems like the album I always wanted them to record. They said it would be epic. Here's my question: What's the increase, the comparison of “epic“? That after all is what I feel about this record.

Brutal Love: Wonderful first track. From the very first second and especially Billie's first voacals, it managed to reach my heart and gave me chills. I love that the song is that long, I love its lyrics, the melody.. it all together creates a special atmosphere that really makes me feel comfortable. My favorite moment in this one might be the way Billie sings the “mind“ in “Something for my trouble mind“. Wow!

Missing You: This one is nice, super cute and catchy! I also really like the lyrics, every word seems so carefully picked. “I searched the moon, I lost my head,I even looked under the bed“ - love it!

8th Avenue Serenade: That rhythm is so outstanding, seriously. I couldn't get it out of my head after listening to the album for the very first time. Also, sweet lyrics!

Drama Queen: I wasn't quite sure what to think about this song being on the record when I first heard about it. I knew it from older live clips and I liked it, but it didn't feel like a real album song to me. Now that I've listened to the studio version, I have to say that the boys have done a great job on it. It sounds super lovely!

X-Kid: The song I've been waiting for, I've been most looking forward to. And it totally lived up to my expectations! Whenever I listen to that track, I have to picture moments of my California vacation this year. It somehow has a special summer vibe to it. Especially the “I fell in love“ part. Definitely my favorite song together with Brutal Love!

Sex, Drugs & Violence: Pretty fuckin' catchy and I just love the way it sounds! Mike's part could have been a bit longer, though!

Little Boy Named Train: I expected this song to be so different, haha! But I do really like it. “Give me directions and I’ll get lost again.“ That line was pretty outstanding for me.

Amanda: Loved this one ever since I listend to the Red 7 live version for the first time. It's such an earworm and the fact that Billie finally called Amanda by her name in a song feels special to me as well.

Walk Away: Wonderfully relatable lyrics, it caught my attention from the very first second. I guess everybody feels like that sometimes. And in general, this is a beautiful track!

Dirty Rotten Bastards: God, I love the beginning and of course the awesome bass solo, I just have to say it! I also really like the differences between the certain “parts“. Especially in love with the music all together in the "California’s burning to the ground" section and the way the song ends.

99 Revolutions: Totally reminds me of this concert summer! And I think they've done an awesome job recording it, it sounds great in that studio version. Generally, it's a super catchy track with great lyrics!

The Forgotten: As already said, this is the best closing track I could have imagined for a triology. It's too gorgeous.

Well, not much criticism from me, I know. But I really couldn't have asked for more and at this point, I have to thank the boys for making this last album so epic. And I also think that it was the right decision to make a triology and not just one single album. There surely are tracks on there which are better than some others but I think every single one is special in its own way and now that I know them all, I couldn't imagine to leave some of them out and not even get to know them!

I'm abstaining from the album until I can have it in my hands (Tuesday), but I haven't been able to resist following this thread and reading your guys' reviews. It seems as though, at least in the realm of GDC, Tre is being received more warmly than the last two discs. And some of the lyrics and song descriptions you've described sound so unorthodox. I'm really curious what I'll think of it when I finally give it a listen.

The lyrics are embarrassing?! You clearly don't know a shit about what these lyrics are about. Man, are you serious, bigger and more powerful?!

Dude, you are allowed to criticize Green Day but THIS is embarrassing.

Btw, no offence and you don't have to like that album or the lyrics in it but saying that Billie seems to think that he's bigger and more powerful than he is, that's just fucking invalid.

I think some these names would be up there too:

Noel Gallagher

Frank Ocean (lyrically)

Kurt Cobain

Bruno Mars (Musically, he's one of the best pop writers)

Eminem (Lyrically again)

Noel Gallagher is a boring predictable songwriter. I don't know who he is, but can you name a great song Frank Ocean has written? Kurt Cobain is hardly this generation, he died 18 years ago! Bruno Mars may be able to write catchy pop songs, but none of them will go down as the greatest of all time. And while I agree Eminem is a brilliant lyricist, he certainly isn't as good as he used to be. Songwriting in rock music is definitely at an all-time low, but Billie is still better than most, bear how many amazing songs and successful singles this man has single-handedly written, which are also musically legitimate, and several of which will go down as some of the greatest rock songs of the 90's/2000's (especially songs like Basket Case, Time of Your Life, Jesus of Suburbia, etc). I would say the great songwriters at the moment are Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys, Neil Fallon from Clutch, Marilyn Manson, Matt Bellamy from Muse, and of course Billie :D

This is all opinion of course, and you're quite entitled to yours. Also, sorry for getting off topic, I too love Tre! Dirty Rotten Bastards is my favourite.

Tre is by far the best of the Trilogy. I really like all the songs. And there's a few greats on it too.

Uno was good. Dos was a disappointment. Tre is just awesome from top to bottom.

1. Brutal Love

2. X-Kid

3. Drama Queen

4. The Forgotten

5 8th Avenue Seranade

All awesome. Also really like Walk Away, Dirty Rotten Basterds, and 99 Revolutions.

On first listen to Tré i was kind of disappointed. I liked Uno and Dos much more on their first listens. But after a few listens I think it could be my favourite album of the 3. The thing is all 3 albums are very different and I can see my favourite changing daily depending on my mood. But as far as Tré goes, from initially liking only X-Kid, 8th Avenue serenade and 99 revolutions I now pretty much love it all, though "Little boy named train" still doesn't quite do it for me. Big growers today have been "Missing You, Sex Drugs & Violence and Walk Away :D The Forgotten is an excellent closer too. Really loving that they tried something completely different than just a regular album.

I can't wait for Quatro to arrive too, I decided not to watch the highlights that were aired last week. Gonna wait till I have the full thing.

I get the same kind of good feeling listening to Tre that I get when I put on American Idiot... that there's an album playing that I admire, that inspires me somehow, that the music just sounds right. Tre is in no way as cohesive a unit, obviously, in fact the songs seem much less connected to one another than they did on either Uno or Dos, but it hardly bothers me... the flow feels right. I'm just at peace with it. I'm not yearning for anything more, which is a feeling I had while listening to Uno and Dos.

Frank Ocean:

I probably would've used Novacane, as thats his most famous song, but yeah Frank is a good artist.

Obviously you've never heard of metaphors. They're pretty cool, you should try and learn more about them before you call AI lyrical garbage.

Triology is great, really.

But worst decision was turning down the distortion.

The riffs are amazing but it just sounds less kick ass.

And TRE is amazing. So are DOS and UNO.
