I've got the urge to bitch and surge?

I think it's binge and surge... a play on words of 'binge & purge"

a good friend of mine finally agreed to listen to tré too :D just 30sec-1min every song but atleast he did it (he dislikes GD :D)

this is his review:

Brutal Love - boring ballade

Missing You - boring ballade

8th Ave. Serenade - radiohit-potential

Drama Queen - fucking boring ballade

X-Kid - simple "3 power chord song" but okay

Sex, Drugs & Violence - nice song title but too sweet pop song

Little Boy Named Train - okay, classic GD song (AI)

Amanda - awful

Walk Away - oh love 2.0

Dirty Rotten Bastards - 'even i like this song very much..its epic'

99 Revolutions - typical album finisher song

The Forgotten - poop

the fact that my friend likes DRB makes me get even more excited for this song :D

Matt, you are wrong, the lyrics are Binge and Surge, not Bitch and Surge. Get your facts straight man.

Yeah so I'm hoping '¡Tre!' will be out in Ireland in a day or two. After hearing the The Forgotten I decided not to listen to any more leaks 'till I got the physical copy, unlike I did with '¡Uno!' And '¡Dos!'. So far I've heard; '99 Revolutions (live), '8th Avenue Serenade' (live), 'Drama Queen' (live), 'Amanda' (live), 'X-Kid' (preview), and 'The Forgotten' (studio).

What I think so far:

1: Amanda (I really, really hope they didn't remove that 'Geek Stink Breath' style into that they had on the live version, as I had read, because that's what makes this song. It comes third if they did remove it. Great tune. 4.5/5)

2: X-Kid (Fantastic song from what I've read/heard, the "I fell in love" part is amazing. 4.5/5)

3: 8th Avenue Serenade (I hear a bit of 'American Idiot' and 'Letterbomb' in this one. Real hooker of a song. 4/5)

4: 99 Revolutions (Good 'ol political Green Day. Bit of a repetitive chorus but a catchy song that reminds me of 'Too Much Too Soon'. 3.5/5)

5: Drama Queen (Nice tune to it, but not one of my favorites so far. Not by all means bad, however. 3/5)

6: The Forgotten (First of all, I don't care that it was in 'Twilight'. I just don't think it's a great song. Seems like they were trying to create a 'Good Riddance' style ballad but it drags on a bit and doesn't work that well. Cheesy lyrics, and the verse reminds me a bit of 'Sweet 16'. 2.5/5)

Hoping to get my claws on this one asap. This is what I imagine quitting smoking or something to be like. I listen to Green Day and go on GDC '¡Tre!' threads to ease the cravings. High expectations for DRB and 'Brutal Love'!

Seriously... How can you dislike Little Boy Named Train?

It actually became one of my favorites after the second listen :P

I bet if a lot of people would like punk now, you wouldn't say that.

I'm not against mainstream music, I'm against worshipping music created with the sole intent of selling. Mainstream doesn't necessarily mean bad. There are a lot of underground acts that try to write music to sell.

California’s burning to the ground

And Julianna walks on holy ground :shy::) who is Juliana Homicide in Dirty Rotten Bastards?

I *think* the reference is to the Juliana Cox character from the TV show "Homicide: Life on the Street".

http://en.wikipedia....ki/Julianna_Cox

Two reasons -- first, according to the article's recap of the character, she deals with pain and sadness through alcohol abuse (that's been Billie's main vice); and second, the character was involved in fast, powerful, crash-and-burn fling with a couple of colleagues. The show's plot lines involving this character mesh nicely with the trilogy's forbidden love/explosive fling/addictive mayhem story -- and in Dirty Rotten Bastards I think Billie is referencing her character as a quick way of identifying his own flaws -- saying "yep, that's me!" -- "Juliana Homicide, make my demons come to life."

You're the second person to mention this. There might be some substance to it :P

Does anyone know if the LP will be available tomorrow just like the CD? Some websites still list it for Jan 11 while others changed it to Dec 7.

Thanks for posting this - with so many disjointed stories and half truths about this song it's good to go back to the source, and now listening to it makes more sense.

The little boy named Train was being brought up genderless and nameless because of the mishandled sexuality of one of his two 'mums' by his/her parents - which makes the daisy chain idea finally work - he's the victim - of a victim- of fucked parenting.

"No band this sprawling, untamable and sheer fun is going anywhere."

Rolling Stone Tre review - http://www.rollingst...ws/tre-20121206

Love the last quote but what a terrible review. They just mentioned two songs that have strings? What the hell is the point of even doing a review? This probably took the author about 2 minutes to write. Same with a lot of Dos reviews. You don't have to go on for pages but at least mention the feel of the album and a couple more tracks. Oh well

Rolling Stone is a good magazine sometimes, but you would think that for an album that gets 4/5 stars, they would write more than 2 paragraphs and mention more than just the opening and closing tracks, y'know? Lazy, sloppy journalism...

Honestly, if they only released one album from the trilogy we wouldn't know how amazing the (epic songs) really are. Once you step back and look at all 37 songs (all are very good in their own way) and you pick the best ones in your opinion, it makes them even better when you compare them to the average songs. You know what I mean? I just don't get how you're all complaining about that. It's so much fun to pick your favorite songs and put them onto your own, personalized playlist.

This! I put the trilogy on shuffle today, and found myself appreciating songs that before had maybe not stood out as much, even from Tre.
