¡TRÉ!

Little late to the 21CBD storyline convo but it was talked about last night...can someone explain exactly what that storyline is? Words can be taken so many different ways, and I feel like the storyline is so vague that people just manipulate them (including the band) and called it a storyline. Or they'll take one line, not even in the chorus, and define the song with it. But...maybe I'm wrong.

Well nevermind I guess we're still talking about it anyway

Random question: Did I just hear Mike have a vocal cameo on Sex Drugs and Violence...or was that just my mind pulling some wishful thinking?

ah, damn. I guess I can't say that there was NO Mike/Tre action in the trilogy...but there still wasn't enough, in my opinion.

Slightly off topic, no? We're discussing iTre! here and now the convo dragged to musical genre.

Though, Tre is off expectation. IMHO it's just far from 'epic' as described by GD.

If they can put about 15 best songs out of the 37, that could be epic as f.

Only problem with that is those 15 might be missing some other favorite songs by other people. I'm happy with all the songs. And perhaps, the term "epic" was used to express what they thought of their own work. They described this trilogy as having the most fun they've ever had. You can tell that these albums weren't made to Appease the masses, but to put it out there with heart and having fun.

I wanted Mike to sing a full song as lead singer, he has never done that, except in Governator but I don't really listen to that song

The middle four songs are slowly, steadily growing on me. Past the expectation of the rest of the album being as good as Brutal Love, X-Kid and DRB, I can finally try and enjoy these songs the same way I already enjoy 8th Ave Serenade and 99 Revolutions.

I'm happy they made 3 albums. So we know all the 37 songs, and you can't say 'the best songs', because everyone likes some songs and someone might not like them at all. For example, my fav track from Dos is not Lazy Bones but they are Makeout Party and Wow! That's Loud at the first place, then Ashley, then Lady Cobra, then Baby Eyes, then Fuck Time and then Lazy Bones. But a lot of GDCers said it was their fav song from Dos and/or one of the best tracks of the trilogy.

Does anyone else just can't see the hermaphrodite story in the lyrics for Little Boy Named Train? I thought Little Boy Named Train was inspired by a friend of BIllie's son who was raised by two women who cut off his penis or something fucked up like that? I just can't hear that story out of the lyrics at all.

I actually thought Little Boy Named Train would be one of the lyrically most interesting songs in Green Day's entire discography because it has this crazy story behind it, but in fact LBNT is one of the lyrically least impressive songs on this album for me.

I liked them from the start, and they're growing more on me with every listen.

72 hours now. Still fucking love this album. It's all I've listened to since the leak.

I don't think the song was necessarily supposed to be ABOUT Train, it's just what inspired the title (Kinda like how Billie always wanted to have a song named "Platypus")... I think this song is about identity-crises of any type, whether it's sexual or just personal confusion "I don't know where I come from"... it's pretty clear to me.

I thought it was about a boy who's parents didn't want him to be identified as a boy or a girl and didn't give him any name...

Every just shut the fuck up about them releasing 1 album instead of 3.

If they only did release 1 album of the best songs, this is what you guys would be saying. "OMG WHAT? 37 SONGS AND YOU ONLY RELEASED 1 ALBUM? YOU SHOULD HAVE RELEASED 3!"

Shut up.

The thing is, newer R&B artists have 0 blues. Identify blues in Rihanna songs. Kanye West. Mariah Carey. "That guy that writes for Bieber". That's not R&B by any stretch of the imagination. And no, I'm not saying one is great because of history, it's simply because I listened to songs and they are well made. Comparing a Madonna classic with Bruno Mars is comparing a perfume with dog poo. Good Pop has been absent for almost as long as I can remember, it is a fact. Today you listen to a bunch of overly recycled songs with hooks made to appeal to your brain, nothing more. Wnat an example? Black Eyed Peas were a good band, doing songs that seemed to be from their heart. Now they just launch recycled crap, songs that appear like most of newer pop. I never liked them to the point of wanting a CD or having their songs on my MP3, but they were still enjoyable. Now they are generic recycled pop.

But I'm tired of this discussion. As I said, people here accuse me of not knowing modern Pop (I have to stand it every day) and don't have any musical knowledge, only to call Dani Filth a Luciferian (maybe it's based on the imagery?). It's not worth. You have a lot of subgenres in Punk to listen to. In Metal. In Rock. But you have a "Musical Degree" when you listen to 5 or 6 pop artists. And this is directed to pretty much the whole forum, not just you.

PS: Kid, I've been waiting for that song you could write in 5 minutes.

God grow up... stop passing your OPINIONS as FACTS... you have alot of anger towards Bruno did he sleep with your sister and not call back and Frank Ocean did you ask him out and he turn you down?

Music is subjective learn to understand that... It's one thing to not be a fan of Bruno but to keep repeating he's garbage off of one song is simply idiotic... and attacking other people who doesn't agree the people you think are supieor is just a sign that you're on the same level as a 10 year old kid...

And before you talk down on my opinion to you using your "musical degree" to let me know that I have no idea what I'm talking about be aware I've worked in the music industry for 14 years I am a Grammy voting member have plaques etc

After thinking day in and day out after hearing Walk Away for the first time, it has donned on me that it sounds similar to The Who's Baba O'Rielly!

Can't miss what you never had though

No

True. I'm sure I wouldn't if they had said we're only making one album. But now that there's three, I sure as hell don't want it to be any less than what we've received.

Andres might hurt you imo.

No. It's a valid opinion. I'm among those who thinks that they should've done one double-album instead of three single-albums, if only because so much of the trilogy was filler (honestly, I think they might've had trouble filling up a double album). Who knows how many songs have been left on the cutting room floor on other albums?

My biggest issue with the trilogy is how disjointed it is. Some of it is new, fresh-sounding stuff, yeah. Some of it is a tip of the cap to early punk, even 60's rock. Dos is basically the leftovers from a second FBHT album, and several songs feel like stuff that didn't make it onto AI or 21CB, kind of like how Pink Floyd's Final Cut was composed largely of leftovers from The Wall. Most of The Final Cut wasn't very good and, let's face it, a good chunk of the trilogy wasn't very good. If every song had been, say, average or better, sure, but there are a lot of songs that are below average, even bad, to my ears. Others disagree, that's cool. I happen to think the band would've done well to cut crap like Kill the DJ, Makeout Party, Nightlife, Amy, Dirty Rotten Bastards and a handful of other songs, then give us one double-album of good music.

i think it is good because these three albums have almost all rock genres on it, and it can please all kinds of person.

People would still complain even if it was a double album and say that they shouldve picked the the best songs from both disc's.

And what if they chose all the songs you didn't like throughout the trilogy and put those on the albums? I think having it all released as three albums is better this way because if they would've just did one or two, they would've just recycled them for another album like they did with Fuck Time.

So I think the best think for everyone to do is to just take the trilogy for what it is, and make their own playlist out of their favorite songs.
