drugstore hooligan
I think our perception of the songs will change a lot once they start playing some of them live. Oh, and can we all agree that Walk Away is the Loss of Control off this record? It's not bad, but I don't love it yet. Except loss of control is better for me personally. Hawx
The worst thing about this album is that its the last of the trilogy ;(

Travis
X-Kid is just a feel good song! Brutal Love is astoundingly great. Dirty Rotten Bastards is something that makes you wanna junk around and rock out. Missing You simply rocks with Tre drumming away. Love this album! And Walk Away...the first guitar riffs sound like some old song...anyone have any thoughts?
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap
I had honestly forgotten Cobain, very well pointed out. I've never rated Noel Gallagher, as I fucking hate Oasis. So I've never really looked into his stuff. I've never listened to Frank Ocean or Bruno Mars, but they're a good bit younger than Billie Joe, so I'd nearly wouldn't count them. And although a lot of people like Eminem, I've never been able to listen to him for more than 5 seconds without wanting to cut my ears off. There are loads of songwriters out these days better than Billie-Joe. Maybe not within the pop-punk genre but in all other kinds of music, he's not one of the best by any means. marekpipe
X kid is the best song on all three records. Dirty rotten bastards sounds like a cheap copy of jos but makes no sense because all these parts dont fit together. I dont know why and how to describe it but all these songs sounds same as older songs . Many of you guys wrote that song x sounds like song y .. i think that is the problem i have with these 3 records... feels like they were just recording as many songs as they without making them special. I know they are going back to the roots but let me ask you : imagine in 4 years : what song will be still in your mind : 2000 lightyears away ... longview ... or diry rotten bastards ? There is nothing special in the new songs anymore like for example in jos .... so sad

I've been a die hard fan since '95 and am not a huge fan of 2000 Light Years Away or Longview. I actually think that Uno and Tre are their two best albums, followed by 21st CB and AI. Kerplunk, Nimrod, and 1039 are at the bottom for me. That is the one thing that I LOVE about Green Day (and especially this trilogy). There is something for everybody. I was in tears sitting at my desk as work half way through my listening of Tre yesterday. I couldn't explain it, but no Green Day album has ever hit me as hard as this one. I think it is by far the best thing they have ever put out. Obviously I know that there are plenty of people that disagree with me, but that's just how I feel. .Holly
X-Kid is just a feel good song! I don't think so! I think (correct me if I'm wrong) it's supposed to be about one of Billie's friends that committed suicide? I'm struggling to deal with it right now because I lost a friend who was only 19 last year, the song makes me feel way too sad. That's what I love about music though, it can mean completely different things to different people.
Comic Sans
can we all agree that Walk Away is the Loss of Control off this record? Man... just no, ok? I don't really like Walk Away and Loss Of Control isn't absolutely like it. I think the Loss Of Control being in Trè is SD&V.

!
I finally listened to it fully, and I like it! My favorites: Brutal Love, X-Kid, Sex Drugs And Violence, and Dirty Rotten Bastards. Songs I don't care for: 8th Avenue Serenade, Little Boy Named Train, Walk Away and Amanda. So I'd give it a 3.5/5 Overall I'm happy with the trilogy. Out of the 37 songs, there are only 8 or 9 songs I don't care about so that's a great thing! My rating for the trilogy would go like this: Dos: 4.5/5 Uno: 4/5 Tre: 3.5/5 Like I said, there's only about 8 or 9 songs I don't like so I believe the trilogy was a success and i appreciate Green day for giving us three albums in a short time span. It may not have been a success sales-wise, but overall, for me, the trilogy was a success.

I don't know how many loads is, but there are a ton of better lyricists. He's pretty damn good at finding melodies in songs and I'd give him an edge there over a lot of other songwriters. He's shown diversity but not wild diversity like some artists. I do think all in all he's above average though. It's always difficult to have these discussions on GDC though because Green Day seems to draw both inexperienced and experienced music fans whose opinions are obviously very different.
