tvrman
i really like Mike's singing in S, D&V, that's too short, i wish there is a whole part of Mike I would like to see GD experiment with vocals being exchanged between B&M, I think that would have potential. Not that I don't like it, I do, I just can't be bothered when there are all the others to listen to. Exactly!!!
Chuckk
They released American Idiot, which is one story on one album. Then they released Breakdown, which is one story BUT divided to three acts. Now they released Trilogy, which is one story (that warmup, party, hangover thing...) divided to three albums. Uhmm .. what's next? By the way, when i listen to Drama Queen i can't get rid of the thinking that it is about Gloria since it's from Breakdown era

iRun
Brutal Love - 9/10 - Kind of reminds me of a Christmas song. I love how it all builds to 2:38, when Billie's vocals are amazing, and Tre's drums are kicking ass. Favorite line: "Dropout, drop dead hideous". Missing You - 9.5/10 - Reminds me of Monkey Wrench from the Foo Fighters (don't know why). The chorus is the best part of this song. Tre's drums kick ass again here, oh ya and the bass! Favorite line: "I get so lost out in the cold". 8th Avenue Serenade - 10/10 - I've loved this song from the live recording at Echoplex. Really simple short song. I think this song is about dreaming (not sure). The backing "Ooo ooo ooos" are the best. Favorite line: "My imagination runs away, on this 8th avenue serenade". Drama Queen - 5/10 - Don't mind the lyrics, I just don't like this song. Now if it was played with just the guitar live, I could give it a 7. Only good thing of this song is the solo. Favorite line: NA X-Kid - 8.5/10 - Good song, I just don't get why everyone thinks it's the BEST. I love the echo when he says "bombs away". Billie's voice in this song is superb. Favorite line: "Like a kick in the head, you're an x-kid". Sex, Drugs & Violence - 9.6/10 Catchiest song on the album no doubt. The opening first is so addicting, it's been in my head all day. Mike's vocal's are good, but I'm glad it's only 10 or so seconds. Favorite line: "Too dumb to die, but I guess that's how it goes". Little Boy Named Train - 9.5/10 - Just as catchy as Sex, Drugs & Violence. I don't get the hate for this song. The guitar reminds me Sweet 16 in the verse a little. Favorite line: "I don't know where I come from, but I know where I have been." Amanda - 8/10 - Loved the live version of this song, studio version not so much. Favorite line: NA Walk Away - 6/10 - A motivational song kind of song. Billie's vocal are good yet again. If this song truly came from Cigarettes and Valentines than I think the album may have been a dud. Favorite line: "The scars remind me I'm still living". Dirty Rotten Bastards - 10/10 - First time hearing the preview on Quatro, I wasn't so sure. The opening is good (8.5/10), but when it gets to 1:50 and Mike's bass rocks out, OH SWEET LORD JESUS. DAMN! This song is just kick ass. It's all over the place, like an ADD nightmare. Totally awesome song, #DATGUITARSOLO Favorite line: "Fuck the world this is my revolution" and "Juliana homicide, make my demons come to life." 99 Revolutions - 7/10 - Going to be an awesome live stadium song. I don't feel the energy in the studio version as I do in the live. Favorite line: "We live in trouble times, from the ghettos to an empty suburban home." The Forgotten - 9/10 - Awesome closer. I recommend listening to the whole album and make sure you pay close attention to this song. It's beautful. Favorite line: "Like soldiers from a long lost war, we share the scars from our abandoned". Overall Album - 8.
Kaddi.
I absolutely love how Drama Queen turned out. I already loved the live version, but this is one of the rare cases where the studio version is even better.

Travis
I think it's funny that people complain that some songs sound the same or the last album sounds like leftovers. I mean, we could have only received 12 songs from Green Day to last us until they decided to make another record. And with songs sounding similar...they did happen to complete all 37 songs at the same time...meaning their creativity vibe was pretty much locked on for all the songs. I'm loving having 37 songs from my favorite band in one year. Now, if their next album sounds similar to this one, then you have all the right to complain. Ritz
I am all for praises after I listen to the bass solo followed by the guitar solo in Dirty Rotten Bastards. Its just so good. RF_goat
Now that's what I'm talking about! Awesome album, for me good as Dookie, AI and 21CB! Every fu**ing song is great, music and lyrics are exceptional. Best of trilogy by faaaaaaaaar! Tre! should get all rock related Grammy awards. I can't wait for them to start playing shows again and promoting this "shockingly brilliant" album
The Breakdown
I did some detective work and found an interesting fact regarding the lyrics for Gabriella. LEFT: Screenshot of Gabriella lyrics from 'Quatro' RIGHT: Official lyrics for Amanda Looks like some lyrics from Gabriella made it into the bridge of Amanda. Fun fact. Now discuss the implications of this Gabriella Amanda Whatsername. Boom

Guest
What about it has you thinking so critically? It's not terrible thus far, just sounds boring and uninspired. It's funny, I expected Uno to be the worst of the trilogy, but it's actually the best by far in my book. I do wonder if GD might have been better served releasing one double-album instead of three single albums. Just curious, for everyone saying that they're underwhelmed, was it because it was built up to be like the "epic" one of trilogy? Or did it just not meet your expectations for the album? Still haven't downloaded it so I'm just curious about the whole "underwhelmed" feeling. Some of both, I think. Like I said above about Uno, I wasn't expecting that album to wow me like it did. Likewise, I wasn't expecting Dos to be terrible, or Tre to be so bland and uninspired. Maybe my taste in music has changed, or maybe the trilogy really is as shaky as I think it is. I can't say just yet. For whatever reason, Tre just isn't doing it for me, and after Dos, it's not like the bar was set all that high. Well, nothing stands out yet, but that isn't because it's bad. I think I'll just need some more time with it. Nothing's jarringly "no" to me like a lot of Dos was, though, so that's fine with me! I'll expose myself to flames here and say that I do not like Dirty Rotten Bastards. It sounds like an uninspired (there's that word again) JOS clone, and the first couple minutes of it are written by Georges Bizet (listen to the Toreador song and tell me I'm wrong). I can't get past that without the rest of the song being epic, and it's not.
haveUgotAny
People need to stop comparing DRB with JoS, they are nothink alike. Probably Billie pitched this wrong the fans i think he was just referring to the length
Homero
I think our perception of the songs will change a lot once they start playing some of them live. Oh, and can we all agree that Walk Away is the Loss of Control off this record? It's not bad, but I don't love it yet.

BlackBaboon
I'm wondering the same! I'm wondering the same! I think this may have something to do with it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julianna_Cox I proposed it in the lyrics thread because the Julianna in this show "compensates for her sadness by drinking and speeding a lot" which would tie in to the recklessness of that part of Dirty Rotten Bastards. However, I have no way of backing this up other than the name of the character and show so it could just be a female name which fit in the lyrics.
