My thoughts,

Brutal Love: 10/10

I love this more than I thought I would. Beautiful, sad little 50s-inspired song. Someone several pages back mentioned "This Boy" by The Beatles. Yes Yes I can hear that. And I love it. I admire it. I just wanna sway back and forth in puppy love agony. And that wail Billie cries out half-way through. That fucking did it for me. I caved in, melted, swooned.

Missing You: 8/10

The beginning kinda throws me off. But reminds me of Nimrod/Warning. I enjoy this song because I watched Quatro first and heard it in brainstorming phase before hearing this final product. The echo background vocals during verses are kinda weird. Good tempo, beat and chorus. But nothing exceptional/stand out for me. But still a good overall Green Day song.

8th Avenue Serenade: 10/10

Oh my god what can I say. I have loved this song ever since I first watched the Echoplex video of it. Sweet lovesick song. "My imagination runs away" beautiful harmonies. I hope this one stays on the setlist.

Drama Queen: 7/10

Everyone is in love with this song. I think it's so-so. I don't mind it. I guess I don't really understand it, which is why I gave it a 7. It's a good mix. I hear Dylan inspiration in this one. Nice emphasis of drums on this one.

X-Kid: 5/10

Don't really care for this one, to be honest. I like the music, good beat, good sound. But the lyrics are extremely bland and I feel like I've heard this story before. Just 'eh' to me.

Sex, Drugs & Violence: 5/10

Uh..filler song. The "english math and science" cracks me up. I like the rhyming/repetition. I'm happy that Mike has a vocal solo. Nice guitar solo. That's pretty much it.

Little Boy Named Train: 6/10

Hmm...I want to like this song. I really do. The title is interesting to me. Might have to come back to this one after a few more listens. I do love that "beeeEEEN" that Billie does near the end.

Amanda: 4/10

Not memorable to me. Average music and lyrics. Solo isn't that bad though. Not getting all these ex-girfriend songs. I'm glad it's the shortest song on this record.

Walk Away: 6/10

Forgot this song exists! I hear similarities between this and 'Hold On'. Filler.

Dirty Rotten Bastards: 10/10

Great song!!! Oh man this is killer with all the different sounds and speeds. Love those snarky "yeaaaahh's" You start with Irish drinking anthem, then go to 80s hard fast punk mixed with face-melting bass quickies, killer guitar solo and then back to Irish drinking. This song is going in all directions, my mind is jumping all over the place like a ball bouncing off 4 walls. Fucking fantastic. This needs to be on the setlist and extended so we can all go fucking nuts.

99 Revolutions: 7/10

Too Much Too Soon? Oh...no wait this is 99 Revolutions. Are you sure, I'm certain it's Too Much Too Soon? Nope it's not, it's 99 Revolutions. Oh okay.

The Forgotten 8/10

I actually like this song more now than when I first heard it on that Twilight video. The strings are perfect. Great solo too. I kinda wish Billie's voice was softer he just seems too loud for this song. I kinda wish the Trilogy would have ended 'with a bang' instead of a ballad.

Overall, I enjoy this album more than I thought I would. Good mix of slow and fast but I can sense an overall "ballad-like" tone to Tre, as said in many interviews. We now have the entire Trilogy!

After listening to Tre! several more times I enjoy it a bit more. My favorites are still 8th Avenue Serenade, X-Kid, 99 Revolutions, Dirty Rotten Bastards, and Amanda. Those are excellent songs!

Fucking torturing myself by sticking to my guns and waiting for the release date, but I have a few questions.

1. What kind of song is Walk Away exactly? I feel like I've got the basic vibes of every song except for that. Is it a ballad? What other Green Day song might you compare it to?

2. Are there any songs with really fast, punk-rock drum-beats? (like Platypus, Jaded, or St. Jimmy fast). I've heard DRB has a pretty fast section in it, but is it like that? I always love songs like that.

Yep, DRB has what you want.

I really hope Dirty Rotten Bastards will be added to the setlist when they start playing shows again. I want to see them rock the shit out of that song. Hands down my favourite out of the entire trilogy.

I concur. And extend the song. Make it longer and, like you said, rock the shit out of it!

Anyone else noticed My Chemical Romance's "Bulletproof Heart" in Walk Away?

I knew I have heard that somewhere before!

Haha.. Lazy Bones and 99 Revolutions start off exactly the same

99's intro sounds even more like "86". I know I'm going to be confused as shit for years to come.

I'm so confused by this. If you can write a Green Day classic in 5 minutes, why aren't you rich as fuck?

And I don't see how any of those songs are any more repetitive than anything Green Day have ever recorded, with the exception of Kill The DJ. Choruses are meant to be repeated, thats the whole fucking point of them. And Green Day nearly always repeat the first verse towards the end. They've been doing it since Dookie.

Next you'll be saying Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? is repetitive because they sing the chorus twice at the end.

Hang on, why the fuck am I arguing with 14 year old who very evidently has no clue about songwriting? I'm done with this, this is fucking stupid.

A 20 year old arguing with a 14 year old about nonsense. Both of you behave, you are still children.

Brutal Love sounds like the beginning of the NOFX album-Wolves in Wolves Clothing. The song 60%. Check it out kids.

Tre is actually pretty epic. Brutal Love is definitely an epic song. Missing You could go either way, but it really builds to that maximum potential feel regardless. X-Kid just explodes. Sex, Drugs, and Violence is probably the most appropriate lyrical song on the album for Billie's current situation. 99 Revolutions is an anthem. Dirty Rotten Bastards... well just check the forum reaction. The Forgotten has been another that's gone either way, but I do think it's the perfect ending for the album. Amanda? Not really epic, probably would have sounded just as fine on Dos, but not every song has to be hugely climactic.

Clearly we have different views on what should be regarded as "epic." I would never describe "Brutal Love" as being epic. Ever. It's not a terrible song but, for me, it lacks the greatness most people are talking about.

X-Kid, despite being my favorite song off Tre, is definitely not what I'd call an epic song. Most other songs are forgettable in my opinion, so yeah.

This is probably extremely weird, but the very very absolute beginning of Brutal Love makes me think of Nirvana's 'Heart Shaped Box'

it's like the same 2-3 notes or something. I can't shake it.

X-kid brings a fuckin tear to my eye it's so perfect. The lyrics and music on their own are perfect but together? They're so powerful and beautiful. My favorite part is when the backing vocals sing higher than Billie in the end of the song. It's fucking perfect it's almost impossible to be human.

Brutal Love, besides DRB, is probably the most "epic" song of the trilogy. The instruments, the harmonies, the horns, the fact that song has more to it than 90% of the songs from iUno! and iDos! (Not just verse, chorus, verse, solo, chorus), the tempo changes, the way the guitars get low, Billie's high notes, the swelling strings. Yeah, it pretty much is epic. No offense, but you sound like you have a stick up your ass. Scratch that, a branch. No wait, a Redwood.

I beg to differ. DRB is probably more "epic" than Brutal Love though.

You are all wrong. The intro to Brutal Love is identical to R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts!"

Yeah I guess we do differ. Do you have a particular quality you look for in an epic song or is it just a feeling that hits you?
