Up to 'X-Kid'. Love this song, reminds me a lot of Paul Westerberg (especially 'Lets Not Belong Together' by Grandpaboy). I really dig the mid tempo hangover feel of the album so far. Brutal Love really grabs you by the balls from the beginning!

So,

Brutal Love is a bit too slow for me at the beginning, but when the electric guitar and the drums come in its much better! 6/10

Missing You is a great punk rock song, I love the bass solo too! 8/10

8th ave serenade is great too, the backing vocals make the song so amazing! 9/10

Drama Queen sounds more like a Weezer song or something like that, the guys should have put it in another album but NOT Tré! 4/10

X-Kid is a good song too, but it ain't my favorite. 6/10

Sex, Drugs and Violence is really basic, I think Mike Dirnt should have not been singing, his voice is too sad there. 5/10

A Little Boy Named Train is similar to Sex, Drugs and Violence, but the solo makes it more interesting. 6/10

I love Amanda, its a rapid song and I like the lyrics too. 8/10

Walk away is awesome! The intro and the chorus remind me of Baba O' Reily from The Who. This song is really powerful! A great punk rock song! 9/10

Dirty Rotten Bastards is SO SO AmAzInG!! I love the second part when BJ sings really fast!! 9/10

99 Revolutions is THE arena rock song we were all waiting for! The riff is awesome as f**k!! The best song of the album I think. 10/10

Ok I'll be a bit harsh, but I'm really not the type of guy that listens piano ballads. The Forgotten is just saved thanks to the guitar solo. 3/10

I respect your opinion, but Missing You and Walk Away have nothing to be defined punk rock songs.

Brutal Love, 8th Avenue Serenade, and X-Kid definitely make this album great.

8th Avenue Serenade reminds me of a song we'd hear on 1,039 / Smoothed Out Slappy Hours or Kerplunk.

I've seen some people complain that a lot of songs on the trilogy sound like other Green Day songs or songs by other artists. While I’m immensely enjoying the trilogy, I have noticed a lot of melodies appear to be very similar to other GD songs. I don’t think this is a bad thing that we should bash. I see a lot of these melodies as “motifs” found throughout Green Day’s body of work. Also, it's like a good joke: many people will tell it but it's all about the delivery. Green Day always delivers!

Anyway, has anyone noticed the following:

  • Amy: The verses sound like Walking Alone. Other parts sound like Shoplifter (e.g.: “Amy don’t you go, I want you around” = “It's not considered stealing, Unless you're getting caught”).
  • Dirty Rotten Bastards: The main melody sounds like Shoplifter.
  • 99 Revolutions: Very similar to Too Much Soon.
  • Missing You: Some parts sound like She’s a Saint, Not A Celebrity. Other parts sound like Murder City.

Can't stop listening to this one. I hope I don't burn myself out. UNO and dos I listened to repeatedly hoping to find something redeeming but with tre it's all about enjoyment. I can't wait to get a physical copy. My thoughts are now that tre was always supposed to be 'the album' and the other two were basically just b side records given to the fans, nothing wrong with that though.

Agreed. 8th Avenue Serenade has a sweet, sensitive vibe kind of like the songs on the first album (Dry Ice, 1,000 hours, etc).
