Finished listening to Tre.

So the bad first... The album is underwhelming. It doesn't sound like an introspective hangover piece as hinted at by Billie Joe, but rather like many B-Sides surrounding a few very good songs. It continues to be a lyrical step down from some of their previous work, but not enough to call it "8th Grader".

This isn't the "stand-out" album of the trilogy that many hoped for and some are calling it.

The good: Some of the songs have elements in them that sound innovative and fresh, including more melodies that sound wonderful and vocal production that seems to just continue to get better for BJ.

All in all it adds 3-5 more really solid songs to take away from this trilogy experiment. I'm not let down, offended by, or harshly critical of this album or the other two for that matter because they add new great songs to the Green Day collection.

So for me...

Uno - 6/10

Dos - 5/10 (Having said that, the best songs on Dos are great! The bad songs are BAD)

Tre - 6.5/10

Trilogy - 6/10

Best 15 songs of the trilogy - 8.5/10

Probably could have trimmed these 3 albums into one really good one, possibly 2 good ones, and saved the B-Sides. But it's like I say to my friends about Green Day, Their B-Sides are better than most bands singles and collectively Green Day is amazing, powerful, and inspiring. This trilogy was sort of like an experiment that didn't go wrong necessarily, but didn't yield the intended results.

So,

Brutal Love is a bit too slow for me at the beginning, but when the electric guitar and the drums come in its much better! 6/10

Missing You is a great punk rock song, I love the bass solo too! 8/10

8th ave serenade is great too, the backing vocals make the song so amazing! 9/10

Drama Queen sounds more like a Weezer song or something like that, the guys should have put it in another album but NOT Tré! 4/10

X-Kid is a good song too, but it ain't my favorite. 6/10

Sex, Drugs and Violence is really basic, I think Mike Dirnt should have not been singing, his voice is too sad there. 5/10

A Little Boy Named Train is similar to Sex, Drugs and Violence, but the solo makes it more interesting. 6/10

I love Amanda, its a rapid song and I like the lyrics too. 8/10

Walk away is awesome! The intro and the chorus remind me of Baba O' Reily from The Who. This song is really powerful! A great punk rock song! 9/10

Dirty Rotten Bastards is SO SO AmAzInG!! I love the second part when BJ sings really fast!! 9/10

99 Revolutions is THE arena rock song we were all waiting for! The riff is awesome as f**k!! The best song of the album I think. 10/10

Ok I'll be a bit harsh, but I'm really not the type of guy that listens piano ballads. The Forgotten is just saved thanks to the guitar solo. 3/10

Wow..... just that, wow... THIS ALBUM ITS TOTALLY INSANE.

I MUST talk about Dirty Rotten Bastards (My favorite with Little Boy Named Train), Its just an amazing song. I love the feel of it. Its like a song for all the damned people, its just like Billie saying "IM A DAMNED TOO!, IM A REJECT, IM A GOD LOSER, SING ALONG WITH ME!" Its absolutely a sing-along-arena song. I imagine this track being perform in places like Milton Keynes :runaround:

and actually its like a Jesus of Suburbia. DRB has it unique style and so Jesus of Suburbia but they that thing.... SJASHKFJDA

The first part (0:00 - 1:50) its like the "Jesus of Suburbia", i totally see a lot of fans dancing and singing together :shy:

The second part (1:50 - 4:24) ITS JUST WOW, Its like a fusion of St.Jimmy and I DONT CARE (JoS), Its absolutely fantastic. On this part MUST have pogo's. It begins with the AWESOME bass line of Mike :yay: then we have a TOTALLY INSANE SOLO (I think its the greatest solo of the trilogy, the solo of Wow! That's Loud would be the 2nd place). Just epic.

The third part (4:24 - 6:26) remind me a little bit to Dearly Beloved  , I totally see billie doing that thing of moving hand with the crowd (He do it on Bulelt in a Bible in Dearly Beloved)... y'know when he says "BROTHERS AND SISTER GET YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR"

THEN WE HAVE THE EPIC FINALE (5:25) :woot: What a amazing form to end a song.

Well thanks if you read this, heres a picture of Billie thanking you

I dont care if this album isn't the greatest album in the world, Uno and Dos are definatly growers for me the more time goes past, and I can guarantee I will feel the same about Tre (not listening to it until next week of course), but I will be hooked to the trilogy for now woop woop!

I dont know of any bands who every album that they put out are awesome as fuck, there are always going to be albums from the same band that you dont like listening to more than others but that's life, Green Day are always going to be the best band for me no matter what material they put out. I think that if you listen to the whole trilogy back to back it would be pretty awesome, well imo anyway :)

37 FUCKING SONGS in 6 months is pretty awesome if you ask me!!

Right think Im going a bit off topic now.................. ;)

Not even Nuclear Family? :(

Don't get me wrong, it's a great song, but I don't know, maybe I just listened the hell out of Uno when it first came out that I just need a break. Hopefully that won't be the case for this album haha.

Right off the bat:

Brutal Love: that scream at 2:38 *SWOON*

I want to be at the sockhop with my monkey boy swaying slowly to this song

any words behind those numbers?

I was going crazy trying to figure out why the "this brutal love" part sounded so familiar, I had another song in my head, and I finally figured out it sounds just like the "so on we goooooo" in The Hollies "He's My Brother"... Billie is definitely familiar with it because he was singing along to the Hollies at Iggy's induction ceremony. Not a criticism. It's a good ringer.

I don't know why tbh. I suppose iTré! was always claimed to be the most epic of the trilogy and I was just underwhelmed by the first few tracks. DRB just stands out cos of the different parts to it.
