¡TRÉ!

Sorry to spoil it for everyone, but the intro/verse and chorus of the first "section" of Dirty Rotten Bastards is completely ripped off from two old songs. I noticed it straight away because the theme songs of Football teams here in Australia are sung to the tune of both of these - these songs are heard weekly for 8 months of the year, so I can tell you now that I'm not just hearing things.

The verse/intro is copied from the Toreador song (from 1:55 in this video):

And the chorus is copied from the United States Marine Hymn (from 0:41 in this video):

Oh we missed 21st century breakdown. It´s also a long song

5.09 barely qualifies, but that's a good one too, despite the dragged out intro :P

Discussion is 3 years late :(

Those assholes! I don't like Green Day anymore!! :(

Ok that's my opinion after the first listen of Trè.

- Brutal Love : Wonderful, it left me without words, only shivers everywhere. I think that's a really particular song for GD, and I also think that it could be similar to The Forgotten, but for me it's really different. Relally catchy and emotional.

- Missing You : For me this one is great, almost perfect. Sounds really energic but sentimental at the same time. Lyrics are full of Billie's soul, like At The Library lyrics. I like it!

- 8th Avenue Serenade : It's a simple song, but with his identity. The choir in the background give it something of American Idiot choirs. In conclusion the worst of the album for me, but however not too bad.

- Drama Queen : We know this song since 2009, but in Trè it's really different from the live version of MSG. The piano is really "Beatles" style. Good.

- X-Kid : That's my favourite from Trè. Good vibes, perfect lyrics, great voice of BJ. It made me do a dive in my past, don't know why.

- Sex, Drugs & Violence : I think it's a good song for the record's atmosphere, and it will sound really energic at GD gigs.

- Little Boy Named Train : This song would sounds better on UNO, I don't think is right for TRE'.

- Amanda : I heard this one in summer, but it was a shitty live version. Really really good, full of old Green Day.

- Walk Away : At the beginning it seems a boring song, but if u pay attention to the lyrics u will appreciate it.

- Dirty Rotten Bastards : Yes, it's definitely the new Jesus Of Suburbia, so it's EPIC.

- 99 Revolutions : Really actual, this song has a strong power to move the young generation to revolution.

- The Forgotten : For me it's the best GD ballad ever. Really romantic and meaningful.

That kind of seemed disappointing. It was good up until Sex Drugs & Violence, but just went downhill from there (other than 99 Revolutions). Amanda was alright but nothing to get excited about, not as good as the live version. It kind of seems like they got bored halfway through and just dumped a load of fillers on it.

I do really like about 6 songs though, which is more than I can say for most other bands. Maybe it'll grow on me, but I love Uno and Dos so never mind if it doesn't. Gonna have another listen :)

Which football teams? I really cannot place the tune.

The Toreador song (the intro/verse of DRB) is Geelong's theme song.

The Marine's Hymn (the verse) is Adelaide's theme song.

This is like saying that My Chemical Romance didn't write God Save the Queen. That melody is world famous, and I doubt anyone thought that GD had made it up themselves.

Fuck, it really is. As a passionate Geelong supporter, I really should have realised

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I like the song (albeit, not as much as everyone else), and Green Day have been my favourite musicians for quite some time now. I only pointed it out because many people were REALLY into it, and I'm a big fan of credit where credit is due, and, unfortunately, this song is being a little "over praised", if you will, so I thought I'd let the reality become apparent.

it's the lyrics that's awesome, though :) The melody sounds like a medley of things they admire and some old work they feel haven't gotten the attention it deserved.

I can't argue with that; the lyrics are awesome (as with most of this record).
