Am I the only one who's really getting into A Little Boy Named Train? It's addictive!!!
some other people have been saying that as well, I still think it's kind of boring like Amanda and 99 Revolutions :(

hmmmm....

Full of energy song with (I admit) a repetitive chorus.

One of my favorites. And I'd never call that song boring. LBNT is boring though :D.

Opinions are different....

Brutal Love is amazing. I can't get it out of my head. Also, I noticed in the linear notes of TRE that Brutal Love is written by Billie Joe and Sam Cooke.

Sam Cooke's dead since 1964.

Billie used lines outta one of his songs I think.

he used the melody of a song. Can't remember the name, but apart from the instrumental set up, it's all the same melody-wise.

It's written to the tune of his classic song "Bring It On Home To Me." A Green Day spin on a classic soul melody.

The more time passes, the more I like Sex, Drugs and Violence. I'm still not a fan of the "English, Math, and Science" line but I find the rest of the song's lyrics intriguing enough to overlook it. However, my opinion of Walk Away becomes less and less favorable. It's slow and plodding, but not in a good way like On The Wagon, it just has no draw to me and I'm spending the whole time waiting for DRB. If that was supposed to be on Cigarettes and Valentines, and if that's what the rest of the album was like, I'm glad they scrapped it.

Just flicking through this thread and seeing odd posts around the forum, it's easy to see that this trilogy has inspired a lot of arguments and really divided the fan base. To be honest, I think the problem lies in the amount of material rather than the fact that we all have drastically different opinions. The songs aren't miles apart from each other really, but because there's so many of them to judge and delve into, it's harder to find people who agree with your interpretations, making the songs feel further way from each other than they actually are. The amount of material is making us all seem like we're really different from each other with what we're thing but pulling away from it… The songs aren't THAT different, really. It's funny. :P

We also have to take into account that everything Green Day does divides the fan base. This project just did it 3 fold.

I am glad they credited him because it is basically the exact same melody. I wonder if they were aware of that when writing it or they just happened to remember it without knowing and then credited him after realizing?

My guess is that they did it on purpose. That melody is used in countless other Soul and R&B songs that followed Sam Cooke, I think Billie Joe decided that he wanted to do his own take on it so he wrote the song in the tune of Cooke's. Its crazy how what surrounds the melody is almost completely different though.

Yeah, that makes sense. It is a damn good melody.

Man, this album is good! "Missing You" is so fuckin fun and catchy (my favourite song out of the trilogy for me too) "X-kid" is a hit waiting to happen, something special about that, SD&V is awesome, Amanda is totally under-rated too, DRB is over-rated, it becomes a slight drag when I'm listening to Shoplifter for the first minute and a half, enjoy the song though, the "California's burning to the ground" is the best bit for me! :)

I wish they put Dreamcatcher instead of Drama Queen on ¡Tré!:runaround:

Guys, I've got to do a music video for my Media BTEC and I want to do a song from Tre, either Brutal Love or X-Kid, which one do you think would work best and what should be in the video?

What is Little Boy Named Train about? and don't say it's about a little boy named train hahaa.

It's about a person BJ knows who was born a hermaphrodite and was raised a female when they always felt like a male. I think this person then raised their child without a gender, and basically fucked up that kids life when he was a school boy because he didn't have a name.

This might sound weird, but whenever I hear Brutal Love I always picture like a living room on New Years Eve, with all the christmas decorations still up, and a bunch of people sitting, talking, getting drunk, etc. Like a New Years Eve party I guess :) Because the song kind of builds up I always imagine a countdown on the TV to midnight with the people cheering and celebrating in slowmotion, hugging each other and stuff like that. Maybe some kind of love story too, like a guy and girl who end up together at the end.

Just my random thoughts haha, don't know if that's the kind of thing you're looking for. It's just what I always picture when listening to that song :)

They actually made him get gender realignment surgery as a kid, which he had reversed when he got older. Majorly fucked up theme for such an innocently titled song :P
