¡TRÉ!

How much do you want to bet that the songs you think are worth releasing aren't the same for other people.

If you are assuming that I don't realize I am just expressing a personal opinion, then you would be wrong in your assumption.

It happens.

Your opinion clashes with mine then. I have found a few songs I don't like, but it's not because I've connected them to other songs with similar melodies or themes.

If it was one album with 17 songs, I wouldn't get as exited as I have for the trilogy. The suspense before each leak have made some of my favorite GDC moments ever.

You seem to be basing your opinion on the Trilogy on how high your anticipation for it was, whereas I'm basing my opinion on the songs themselves in comparison with all previous Green Day records.

I don't really like comparing it, cause it's so different. Even if some songs have the tendency to use bits and pieces from old melodies. I just like it all, except for maybe the opening song on Dos, which was a drag. I love how Tre just finished the whole thing up.

So the moral of the story is, don't release 37 songs when only a handful of them are worth releasing.

True, ma, true. There are some beauties across the board that could have made for a single solid record.

Case in point. Brutal Love. It's beautiful. I can't get over it. One of the best ballads they've done in a while and it blows the Forgotten out of the water. It should have been to one to end the trilogy.

Definitely next time they will ask you before released songs.

Since I was merely expressing a personal opinion, your response seems unnecessary. I, like you I'm sure, am a huge Green Day fan. I spend money on their records and other merchandise. I've been a stark defender of Green Day for as long as I've been a fan. I have purchased all three Trilogy albums and spend time listening to them, which means I feel I am allowed to express an opinion. I am assuming that one of the uses of this forum is for Green Day fans to express their opinions on Green Day. If you are too insecure with the idea that not everyone will share your opinion, then perhaps it's not in your best interest to be here.

I like you, we have really similar glasses.

Anyway, I don't know how new you are to online forums, but bitching like this are a daily thing and should be shrugged off

I think 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' would be a pretty poor choice for a name from a marketing perspective. Just putting that out there.

Ha. Agreed; I just meant it as how I would describe it, quality-wise.

Though, I do think there is an argument to be made that the overall marketing strategy for this Trilogy in general was misguided, beginning with the choices for lead singles.

You could write a whole thesis on the marketing of the trilogy. I agree that the lead singles were poor choices, but at the end of the day it's really just up to which ones the band liked. As for the latter half of the trilogy, the awful marketing is really just a result of circumstance. First Billie has a meltdown, which causes him to withdraw from public interaction, which causes the rest of the band to do the same, which causes loads of tour dates to cancel, which causes Tre to be brought forward, which causes little to no (and rushed) promotion for Tre in addition to a lack of singles.

I told you in between funny and serious because it seems strange to me when people tell Green Day what to do.Don't get me wrong...I mean that this time they felt the need to release a trilogy.Right or wrong...Who knows? If they felt themselves that their music was not good enough I don't think they will recorded three albums. They had many songs they liked and found a good idea to distributed in a three-album concept.Personally,I like the whole concept and most of the songs.Sorry if my comment bother you.

Well, my interpretiatiopn for Drama Queen and the whole mood of the song is like.... a girl being raped (?) - - [maybe under a kidnapper whos hijacking her for a longer time]- -

that's how I looked at it from the beginnig :D

The sure thing is that it was to be released in 21st CB but at the last moment replaced it with Murder City.

I'm glad it was replaced and stuck on another album. It's a decent song but it wouldn't have fit in on 21CB in my opinion.

Sigh, you two. You both have different opinions, so just accept it and move on.
I had moved on. Why quote me on this to tell me how you would deal with it?

This is my favorite of the 3 albums. It's so fucking great from start to finish. I closed my eyes during Billie's soulfulness on Brutal Love and took it in, rocked out in between, and cried at The Forgotten. This was the only album where I chose not to listen to any of the songs before this album came out because I wanted one CD that was all brand new and a full shock with each note. I listened to Uno before it came it, and a few off Dos, but this one was completely new and just blew my mind. And this album, I find it hard to choose a favorite song, because it's tied between all of them. Still, listening to it for the dozenth time, I get chills and a fast heartbeat. Only Green Day can do that.

Does anyone else absolutely love the 10 seconds Mike sings on Sex, Drugs and Violence? It's not even necessarily because he's singing (although that is cool) but the music too. To be honest the whole song is awesome. :)

The ten seconds Mike sings on Sex, Drugs and Violence is probably my favorite part of the entire trilogy. I love the lyrics xD
