¡TRÉ!

TRE is my album of the year, hands down. I was blasting it today, and I can just relate to every fucking song on so many levels. I love it, this is why Green Day is my favorite band, and always will be.

best album on the trilogy and one of the best albums ever!
The album is great in some many ways, musically and lyrically one of my favorites ever.
Tre really blew my mind and I think the guys did a really good job on this trilogy, best band ever and my favorite :)

I've decided that ¡Tre! is my favorite album of the trilogy because

1) It's good enough for me to forget that ¡Dos! ever happened.

2) Songs like Dirty Rotten Bastards, Brutal Love and X-Kid were a very much-needed reminder of why Green Day is my favorite band.

It's such a shame that it's being so overlooked.

I'm confident Tre! will pick up once it starts getting promoted properly.

That analogy reminded me of this thought I've always had: and who wrote that, an uninspired student? :P Honestly, you'd be a bit of a shit poet if that's all you thought. Texts studied in school aren't just things written off the top of their head. That doesn't make every analogy right, but decent writers always have something to say. Why else would they be up for study?

Obviously good writers and poets have more to their writing than just the words on the page :P

I was just making a point that sometimes people can be guilty of reading too much into lyrics.

This is my favorite off the trilogy. I don't know if it's because the boys mentioned it on every interview or what, but I really feel the difference between the 3 records. And this in particular to me it's the most important; the "reflection" of everything that happened. UNO is a little angry and lives for the moment and for the beginning of new things. DOS is uncontrolled and excessive; it's having fun, but it also has a bad time. And TRÉ is calm, is like remembering both good and bad times; remembering feelings and persons and finds a final conclusion on every song.

My higlights are Brutal Love (♥♥♥), 8th Avenue Serenade, Walk Away, Missing You, Sex,Drugs & Violence and The Forgotten.

Yesterday I wrote the lyrics of Brutal Love on a paper during a class (always do this instead of listening...) and I realized that Brutal Love is not about Love but Sex, anyone else had the same view of the song ?

I interpret it as a sex song as well.

I know nobody cares about these, but I thought I'd write a review because it helps me get my thoughts about the album together.

Brutal Love- 5/5. The best slow song the band has ever done. Billie's voice is incredible, the horns are awesome, and the part when the whole band kicks in is amazing. Just all around fantastic song.

Missing You- 4/5. Pretty typical sounding, but very catchy and charming. I love the pre-chorus and the chorus, and the bridge with that cool bassline.

8th Avenue Serenade- 3/5. Extremely catchy, but a bit forgettable. Really like the riff though.

Drama Queen-3/5. Very happy sounding song with sadder lyrics. The little piano lick is sweet sounding, and the brief guitar solo reminds me of Killer Queen by Queen a bit. Pleasant song.

X-Kid-4/5. I actually think this song is a bit overrated. Very good lyrics, but for some reason it feels like it's missing something for me. Everyone else seems to love it though, so good choice for a single.

Sex, Drugs and Violence-3/5. Very catchy, and I love Mike's part. I also don't hate the English Math and Science part like most people do. Sounds like it could have been on Uno though.

Little Boy Named Train- 3/5. Pretty catchy. I love the pounding drumline. Kinda forgettable though.

Amanda-2/5. Catchy, but was expecting a bit more from it. Probably my least favorite.

Walk Away-4/5. Liked this WAY more than I expected too. Really good lyrics, and catchy chorus. Sweet solo too.

Dirty Rotten Bastards- 6/5. That's right. This song breaks the fucking scale. I had goosebumps throughout my entire first listen to this song. The first bit is unbelievably catchy, then the punk section comes in and is one of the heaviest things the band has ever done. The bass solo is amazing and the guitar solo sounds like a fucking metal song. Just incredible. One of my favorite Green Day songs ever.

99 Revolutions- 5/5. Great lyrics, unrealistically catchy chorus, awesome riff. Just all around awesome.

The Forgotten- 4/5. Beautiful ballad with great lyrics, but not really my kind of song. Great way to close this amazing trilogy though.

I'd say my overall rankings of the albums go Tre>Dos>Uno, but I love them all. Together, the trilogy is one of my favorite things Green Day has ever released. Can't wait to hear these songs live.

i think i'm alone on it but i'll say it anyway:

i think Brutal Love one of the weakest songs on Tré... I mean it is a good song but is too slow..its not the kind of a green day song i like..to me its on the same level as the forgotten, where i can listen but if it wasn't released i wont miss it at all

Totally agree with your opinion of Brutal Love. It's fantastic. Amanda and Little Boy Named Train are my least favourites too.

I had high hopes for Amanda though. Being that the songs written about this person were always amazing in the past. Didn't quite do it for me, catchy but nothing that grabbed my attention.

Can I ask you why ? :)

The lyrics are just too suggestive for them just to be about love as an emotion. Phrases like "Not quite at home, eyes of temptation" and other bits, makes me think it's about a bad act of sex, or falling in love and realizing it doesn't work because the sex is shit.

took me a while to get into it, but I really think this could be their best album since american idiot. most of the rest of the world seems to disagree with me though.

Little boy named train is fab.

I am literally laughing my ass off when I read some of the reviews off tre.I mean just because they HAVE to give a bad review, they are writing ALL SORTS OF EPIC NONSENCE CRAP.Their justification of The Forgotten being the worst song of 2012 is that IT'S BORING.WHO THE FUCK MAKES THESE GUYS REVIEWS.I MEAN WHAT THE FUCK ELSE DO YOU EXPECT OUT OF A PIANO BALLAD? Another amazing reason for Dirty Rotten Bastards to suck is that it's LONG.ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME.JESUS OF SUBURBIA WAS FUCKING 9 MINUTES LONG AND NOBODY SAID SHIT JUST BECAUSE THAT WAS GREEN DAY'S TIME.You review a song by it's quality and not how long or short or boring it is!!!

That awkward moment when Justin Beiber's Believe gets 74/100 on Metacritic and Tre gets just 65!!! I REQUEST ALL OF YOU TO COMMENT THE HELL OUT OF ANY OF THESE WANNABE CRITICS POSTS PLEASE.WE CAN'T HELP GREEN DAY WIN A PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD BECAUSE WE ARE TOO BUSY.THIS IS THE LEAST WE CAN DO TO SUPPORT OUR BAND!!!

From what I've read from comments below reviews is if an album gets a good grade from the reviewer, then he is a big GD fan and isn't rational.

And if it gets a bad score the reviewer isn't a GD-hater just rational and a good reviewer.

It doesn't really make sense, but I think it is like this for many artists.

I mean, it can be a good review and a bad score, not everything is to everyone's liking.

Why is Justin Bieber always brought into music arguments though, what does he have to do with anything...?

Justin Beiber was brought here to explain how shit music is rated well these days, bullshit music is considered to be one of a kind and good music is considered to be a WASTE OF TIME.

Not only JB that I'm talking about.According to these so called critics, Taylor Swifts We are never getting back together carries a message.Just check the lyrics of that song and tell me what BULLSHIT message it has.But the same critics feel Stray Heart lacks lyrically.hey called the entire tre album lyrically fail.Im sorry but when I think of bad music, Justin Beiber's name comes first in my mind.

So, I'm extremely late, but I got ¡Tre! today :D Really enjoying it so far. My favourites are Missing You, X-kid, Sex, Drugs and Violence, DRB and 99 reveloutions :D Missing You is the best though!!! Why all the hate for LBNT? It's not the best but...it isn't even as bad as people say :P Drama Queen is my least favourite, but it's still listenable. I think I prefer ¡Dos! though, too soon to call it yet though :P

Because I think after all the punk pop we got on Uno people were expecting something a little different I guess. I for one love it, and that song along with Sex, Drugs & Violence are 2 of the best punk songs the band has written since American Idiot (the song) and St. Jimmy. Maybe even since Nimrod (In my opinion, of course).

But this post proves you're just as close-minded as them. Who are you to say what's good and what isn't? And about messages... Despite being simple, We Are Never is kind of about female empowerment, whereas lots of songs in the trilogy are about getting drunk and fucking and having no direction. Not good messages. If you disagree with the critics, that's fine, but you don't have to drag an entire music scene to prove a point. In fact you're disproving it by doing so.

I never dragged the entire music scene in the whole thing.I am talking about how particular artists get the Critic's approval everytime, but some of them who are really good don't.And Taylor Swift's music isn't really about WOMAN EMPOWERMENT I guess. If you want to listen to some good female music there is always Adele, Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey etc to name a few.I don't really mean to say that her songs suck. They may be good from a female's point of view.In the end it's the listener's choice as to what he thinks is good or what's bad. What hurts me is that people these days call music bad because it's BORING,LONG DOES NOT MAKE SENCE etc, which is not acceptable.

And please, I have my own band, atleast 4500 songs in my ipod across all gentres,I have seen 6 artists perform live in a country where people hardly care about western music.AT LEAST IM NOT CLOSE MINDED ABOUT MUSIC FOR SURE.

Only A FEW songs from Uno and Dos were about being drunk.I dont remember any song from tre that was inspired from a drunken moment.
