WrongWayToSalvation
Im not dissing electronic music at all! and when have I compared Kid A to American Idiot or the impact they had in music???, as far as I know the only thing that really impressed people about Kid A was that it was made by the same band that was doing regular and very good rock music before, but dont get me wrong i like Kid A i just dont see why there is some much hype about it! I know Green Day hasnt changed their style radically over time! that was the point I was trying to make hahaha thats why im kind of suprised when people say they expected someting different from some of these albums when the band also mentioned before what they were going to sound like. The thing that impressed people about it was the atmospheres that was createdewith the music. The images created with it. Chaos, madness, war, nuclear fallout, death, hope, alienation etc. You could get all of that from the music itself, most artists need lyrics to paint a picture in the listener's head. Kid A paints a chaotic picture musically. It's what inspired bands like Coldplay, The XX, Arcade Fire etc. and made electronic music popular. It also inspired a lot of the digital promotion that is used by countless artists nowadays with the way it was promoted. And I never once said you were dissing electronic music. Hmm yep maybe although we would have to see if people get all that imagery you talk about thereselves our from other peoples opinions in reviews etc haha but I see what you mean. I dont really get how Kid A has inspired Arcade Fire (which I love) or Coldplay and dont think it was such a groundbreaking album, there are other bands with albums that have a similar style to Kid A which have not received as much praise....like some of the cure`s songs. Watch interviews from Arcade Fire and Coldplay, they've referenced it numerous times. When a band says they were inspired by Radiohead it's usually because of two albums. OK Computer and Kid A, and Kid A is usually ranked higher on Most Influencial lists than OK Computer even though it's more recent.

Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap
Kid A paints a chaotic picture musically. It's what inspired bands like Coldplay, The XX, Arcade Fire etc. and made electronic music popular. I don't want to be that guy, but I think Daft Punk had more of an influence on electronic music of the last decade, at least the popular stuff. Kid A is fan-fucking-tastic, but it's so far ahead of anything Green Day or any of their contemporaries are capable of doing though so it's an unfair comparison. You wouldn't compare One Direction to Green Day in terms of musical creativity, they're just in different leagues. If you want to compare Green Day then do so with their contemporaries in mainstream rock, which Radiohead have long since surpassed. I would say they're still doing pretty well and remaining more interesting than Foo Fighters, U2 or Muse.

Malleus
Not very? Essentially. I'm only being grumpy! It's just funny seeing everybody go on about how Radiohead is like the epitome of intellectuality in music. Yeah, they've put out great albums, but they are one of the most "entry level" bands around. Their messages are not complex, nor very unique. Comparing them to Green Day IS pointless, but not because Radiohead are these deep fat cats and Green Day are the proletariat masses - it's pointless because they make very different genres of music. I would agree with that for the most part but I do think they're both very important for their genres at the time so that may be where a comparison comes in, but hey if you like music you'll likely enjoy quite a bit of both
Unholy Sister of Grace
I didn't see it, I've just seen the MTV clips, but I did listen to the songs that were posted and Missing You was PERF, ugh it reminded me of someone too, like Billie crawled into my brain and wore that song from it, I swear. Anyway, Billie is my songwriting hero, he's so brilliant. The relaxed, personal style is something I've always wanted to see; I've seen Green Day the performers, now I get to see more of Green Day the men, and the family men at that, according to what I'm hearing of what VH1 aired. So excited for Tre! and Quatro! My boys <
The Grohl
I finally got a chance to watch and I love friggin love it! It has that Bullet in a Bible thing going on and I loved that to death. I think it's an awesome mix of what went on in the studios along with classic GD humor and some club shows that not a lot of people got to see, so it's really cool. Plus, I love that comment that Mike made about people shouting out Christy Road: "Go back to 1992 for a minute!" Overall, it was awesome and I can't wait to see the whole thing because I can't even imagine what they left out of this preview.
