I plan on waiting for the album to come out so I won't be listening to any previews or leaks, but could anyone describe the kind of musical style X Kid, Dirty Rotten Bastards, and Missing You are? I really don't wanna ruin the album but I need to know what these songs sound like. Also, do any of these songs stand out as some of Green Day's best work or are they just good but not that great?

X Kid and Dirty Rotten Bastards both quallify as some of Green Day's best work IMO. The former is a moderate tempo rocker with some amazing backing vocals. Not quite as mellow as Sweet 16 but not as intense as Nuclear Family or Carpe Diem.

Dirty Rotten Bastards, from the sample, sounds like Celtic punk. Like the next evolution of their Warning sound (which is a very good thing!!). You can picture someone marching to it. And this is only part of this multi-part song!

Missing You, while not groundbreaking, is still a great song. Reminds me of the Nimrod Era and is more of a rocker like Stay The Night.

I just remembered, in one part of the video, you can see another dry erase board with one of them about to cross out a song (some are already crossed out, some are songs that made it). I only remember seeing a song called "Satelite" and even more curious was our wayward "Dreamcatcher". There were others too, but I didn't get a screencap in time.

Listening to just X-KId because I've already listened to it. I can already tell it'll be one of my favourites on Tre, and maybe even just in general. Great, great song.

Caved in and listened to 20 seconds off of Dirty Rotten Bastards. Sounds good too!!!

I thought that Dirty Rotten Bastards sounded familiar, and if you guys are familiar with Formula 1 races (or know classical music otherwise) and podium celebrations after the race, you might think the same, check this video at 1:10

Definitely! I had the song stuck in my head but I never knew the name of it. Thanks for posting the video of it.

Yeah. I mentioned that earlier. It was the first thing I thought of when he first starting singing after the beginning.

Dirty Rotten Bastards sounds like Dookie dosen´t it?

It sounds nothing like Dookie material at all.

Anyone do any lyrics yet? If not I will. First. X-Kid. Because it is officially my favourite Green Day song ever. Move over JoS.

X-Kid

Hey, little kid

Did you wake up late one day and

You're not so young, but you're still dumb

And you're numb to your old glory

But now it's gone

I fell in love, but it didn't catch your fall

Then I crashed, into a wall

Then I fell to pieces on the floor

Now you're sick to death

Bombs away, here goes nothing

The shouting's over

Hey X-kid, Bombs away

Here goes nothing

The shouting's over now

Over and out again

I once, was old enough

To know better

Than I was too young to care

But who cares?

I probably would but Hollywood is dead and gone

You fell in love

But then you just fell apart

Like a kick in the head

You're an X-Kid and you know the reason

Got started again

Bombs away

Here goes nothing

The shouting's over

Hey X-kid, Bombs away

Here goes nothing

The shouting's over now

Over and out

Over and

Over and out

Also when Billie says Kick, does anyone hear cake?

Dirty Rotten Bastards

Yeah(x9)

Calling all demons, this is the season

Next stop is therapy

We're the retarded and the broken hearted

The season of misery

Here's to the wasted, I can almost taste it

The rejects, the wastes of times

You'll take it further, get away with murder

And no one is getting out alive

Here's to all God's losers that I----

(Not from the preview, but shown on lyrics sheets during the documentary)

Send me your crippled

Sucking on the nippled(nipples?)

The teet of the modern age

Your tired your troubled

Making it a double

Of shots from a long lost wage

I'm just a rambler, a hurdy gurdy gambler

a love sick and dirty swine

Wipe ---- up in -----

We're dirty rotten bastards

Singing for the deaf, dumb and blind

Who ever said DRB sounds like Shoplifter you are so right. Definitely a sing along song. Can't help but sing along with it.

Missing You

Say OOOHhhhhhhhhhhhOOhhhhhhhh

Waking up

Feeling naked

In my clothes inside a room that's vacant

Lost my nerve

It's unnerving

I know there is something I'm forgetting

I searched the moon, I lost my head

I even looked under the bed

I punched the walls, I hit the street

I'm pounding the pavement again

I'm missing you

I'm missing you

You're not around and I'm a complete disaster

I'm missing you

Honestly have no idea what Billie yelled at the beginning, so I just put what he normally yells at concerts.

So my current thoughts on Tre!. My fucking favourite Green Day album.

Well, I re-watched what I taped from last night to get the full list (or as much as I could) It seems to be a very early list as you'll see - Here's what was on the board -

- Crossed out song (couldn't make it out)

- Crossed out

- Baby Blue

- Don't Look Away (rest is illegible) (early name of The Forgotten?)

- Hello Firecracker

- Satellite

- Jezebel (probably early name for Troublemaker)

- Crossed out song (being crossed out by good ol' Billie in the vid)

- Teenage Blue (early name for angel blue)

- Crossed out song

- Dream Catcher!

- Crossed out song (I could sorta make out this one, the first word looks like "Drama". Maybe it was Drama Queen and the song was almost scrapped a 2nd time?

- Can't Believe My --- ?eyes?

- ?Hard Times?

- Crossed out song
