Green Day Songs Dookiefied®

Dookiefied

Recommended Posts

Honestly, I have no idea about the copyright stuff. There are tons of covers on Youtube, iTunes and Spotify so I figured I should be fine but probably not lol. I do however believe that both iTunes and Spotify have a built in royaltees function. But Green Day should shut the f*ck up. From what I remember they had "used without permission" on one of their albums ;)

I'm working on a brand new Dookiefied by the way. It's a song off of the new Trilogy. Been a while since I've done one of those :)

Warner can sue you not just Green Day... and they do search for unauthorized material being sold I'd warn ya on it

Yeah, I'm sure you're right but I'll take my chances. I think this is a fun way to reach out to more fans of the band. There are so many covers out there that I personally think they don't even care as long as it is not turning out to be a major income. At the moment I'm not a threat to anyone and I'm just a fan like the rest of you so what would they gain in suing me. But I won't be a bitch about it. If they get on my tits about it I'll just remove it. Still, Youtube is full of it and people are making a shitload of money on their videos, even original uploads so that would be a bigger problem for them.

Once they sue you its not as simple as removing

They can get up to 250K per song that belongs to them if you can't pay they will put you in prison up to 5 years per song...

Not saying don't do it just be warned you could face bankruptcy and prison if WMG finds it just giving you a heads up YouTube isn't the same as selling on itunes...

I'm not worried about being sued but I certainly don't want to break the law. I will contact Warner and ask them. I read somewhere that iTunes has a built in system for royaltees.

YouTube's different, labels have the power to have videos removed from YouTube without contacting the uploader. With iTunes, once you've paid for the service and done all the distribution stuff, you're directly involved. I mean, I think what you're doing is a great idea, but making money off someone else's copywritten material without seeking official permission beforehand is a bit risky, however you try to justify it.

Just a heads up. Doesn't mean I won't be buying, so good luck! :D

Royalties doesn't have anything to do with clearances though

Not trying to talk ya out or seem negative just wanted to give a head up on what could happen

I hear you guys and I appreciate it, I really do. I should be more carefull. The band and Warner has every right to protect their product. I just contacted them and hopefully I will get a reply before the release is made available. If they turn me down I will let you guys know and I will remove the album. I certainly don't want to do anything illegal or wrong. :)

Good luck, I know it sucks that people like you aren't allowed to make a bit of cash so a multi-million dollar company can just get richer!

Yeah but a band like Green Day has worked hard all their lives and I want to respect that :)

Yeah, course. As someone just trying to get my music career started I'm on both sides of the fence at the same time, it's a relatively complicated issue really.

Definitely buying! Trying to decide if I should keep all of your releases in release order, this will definitely screw that up- I think I'll break them down into Green Day albums- so like 39/Smooth Dookiefied and Nimrod Dookiefied, and I can make art for all of those.

Also, now that Green Day releases will be for sale, how does the copyright stuff work? How much % of your profit does warner want?

These are different versions, though. I'd just keep them the way they are (but hey, it isn't my iPod lol).

i ended up making 2 dookiefied albums and one acoustified with like 9 songs on it and naturally that was BEFORE i knew about this album thing...dammit!

I told you you should wait for the new year :P

Not as good as Pritchard ;)

Are you related to Mike?

How many times do have I answered that already?

And there are only little differences, I'm not concerned about having every version like I am for my Green Day stuff. So after comparing versions, I'll keep which one I like best. My art so far for the albums totally sucks- the worst part is I spent a lot of time on them :(

The thing is (someone might correct me on this) that it's nothing to do with Green Day. Warner could sue you for lots of money and they'd probably know very little about it (unless they got some of it). But I doubt they'd even be aware of the decision to sue someone, and I'd like to think, being that they're fairly decent guys, that they personally probably wouldn't have any problem with you doing what you do.

Yeah, the Green Day I know wouldn't mind. If anything they would support it. But still, one can never be sure. They have to protect their trademark too and I would understand that. I've contacted Warner so hopefully I will get some responce. I'll probably have to withdraw it, but I'm hoping :)
