I must be in the small minority of people who actually LIKE Nightlife. And Kill The DJ, for that matter. :S

Lol I love both

Just listened to all the tracks except for SYT, Ashley and Baby Eyes. This album is easily better than Uno. Favourites are "Wow,That's Loud" , "Fuck Time " and "Makeout Party". I think "Wow,That's Loud" would make a great opener for a live show, with the band coming on stage and then Billie playing the riff. I can just image the crowd going wild when that song comes on :D.

The GDA newsletter's take on the DOS leak annoyed me. It made it seem like those people who chose to download it early were pissing on some kind of ancient, religious ritual. Seriously? It's a bit of music which we're all going to buy on the release date anyway. We're members of a Green Day website because we're such huge fans, so it's not as though it's our goal to exploit the band.

According to the article I am the average, 20 year-old fan who has many years to listen to the music. It doesn't really matter what time I choose to listen - I'm actively supporting the band and have done for years. Having spent months anticipating this release after UNO, yes, I jumped at the chance to get to listen to the new material before the time I was expecting. I really don't see what difference that makes in the grand scheme of things. It's not as though me, and the rest of the downloaders were forcing others to listen or stomping our feet and bitching about the date until there was a leak. It happened, so we downloaded it then talked about it amongst ourselves. Big deal.

I mean, if the article focussed on how because of the leak, lots of people will be able to access the music for free (exploiting the band) then that's a fair point. Personally, I am going to buy the CD (and various trilogy-related things which come with it, such as concert tickets, merch, etc), because I want to add to my Green Day collection, but lots of other people won't, and that's sad. However, it didn't focus on that at all. I realise that the newsletter isn't supposed to be a serious piece of journalism which is why I'm not bashing it for having opinions - I'm just disagreeing with one which was presented a little more harshly that us downloaders deserved.

The only people bitching about the leak are the people who chose not to download it. You don't see one ones who DID listen a week early bashing others about not doing so. Just come off it, please. Getting sick of it.

I so agree to this.

Why would you skip three tracks?

I can't say why, but after it leaked (and I listened to it) a week ago, I'm less excited about it. Actually, I'm disappointed by the decision of making a trilogy. Some songs aren't worth it; well, too many are average. Don't assail me, I know I'm the minority, but this is the worst experiment in Green Day's career, and this is coming from a long-time fan. Finger crossed for Tré!.

Well, yes, they can´t serve everybody. I myself am so happy with Dos (not so much with Uno) that I wonder why my neighbours didn´t storm my flat yet...

Agreed! A leak on an artists fansite won't hurt sales because most of the people are going to buy it anyway. I always download albums before I buy them, just to make sure it's worth buying because I'm not going to buy something that I don't like. I enjoyed Uno and Dos, so I bought both

I want to wait until I actually get the physical copy, so it gives me something to look forward too.

Is it weird that one of my favorite songs in the album is See You Tonight?

No, mine too.

The interesting thing about this is that it really divides fans. I don't remember the reception for 21CB amongst fans but so far there are a significant amount of people that love Dos! and hate Uno or vice versa

I see why people were mentioning Michael Jordan now . Gonna hear that every time I listen to Ashley.

Whatever happened to the Static Noise podcast?

The GDA team has decided to put it on hold and concentrate on other stuff on the site for now.

Yayyy! I was getting discouraged with all the threads and posts claiming "Oh, Nightlife is crap, Green Day should never try hip-hop again!" and "Oh, the Kill The DJ video sucked so much, what was Sam Bayer thinking!" but hey...

Yeah that's all I heard from the start! Only realized today it's "cold shoulder"

Okay so :)

SWTRLF has really grown on me.

I liked it already when I heard it for the first time (i.e. earlier today :D), but for me it's the "Know your Enemy" for this album. Sounds simple, but after 5-10 listens you find something that you can for lack of better words "cling on to" and then you can take the journey.

Makeout Party has had a similar effect on me as well.

Lady Cobra, Nightlife and Wow, that's loud are still bad, but the rest is from OK (Wild One) -> Amazing (Lazy Bones).

And I think it's quite funny that in my opinion the best song on the album, i.e. Lazy Bones sounds like a mixture of:

Church on Sunday

Jackass

Letterbomb

Give me Novacaine

Favorite Son

and

Roshambo

(I love all these songs)

Anyone want to add to that list? (if this has been talked to death when the preview of Lazy Bones was released then no need to reply. A link to your discussions would be enough for me, or a few sentences of your conclusions. I think it has successfully combined lots of songs without sounding borrowed except for the Roshambo part)

I like both, although I liked Kill the DJ alot from the beginning, more than Nightlife anyway.

Here we see that people are different.

For me Nightlife is the worst song they have ever done.

My previous least favorite was Strangeland, and that is barely listenable.

Nightlife isn't even that.

KtDJ is okay in small increments. Too much and you begin to be bored quite fast.

But this shows we all aren't clones.
