¡DOS! Album

A wannabe Keisha rapping horrible lyrics though... As a pretty big Hiphop/Rap fan, it's a disgrace. It's honestly Keisha bad. and I don't know how anyone hear can defend that, just because it's Green Day. They're so much better than this.

....I don't see a Lady Cobra/Kesha comparison at all? If you're talking about the vocals, she's meant to sound dirty and sleazy and all that jazz because that's what the song is about, she's playing the role of whatever dirty, sleazy, thing is seducing you.

I don't get the "they're better than this" argument either? They just tried out a new music style on one song, it's not like it affected the album or the way the band behaves or anything like that. It was just an experiment on one 2 minute song, that's all.

And I'm not trying to justify it because it's Green Day, I actually like Lady Cobra's parts better than Billie's and I think the beat behind it is catchy as fuck.

Lets face it: Green Day mixing with rap could've been 10000x worse than it was.

If they added backing vocals from Justin Bieber and rapped about how Jesus is Lord and then subsequently committed genocide against 500 million people and killed a puppy, then it could have been 10000 times worse. As it stands, it's still pretty bad.

Did I just realise Baby Eyes might have to do with Billie Joe's son uhhh. Joey? well, which ever one has the middle name Danger? *Bad fandom* Just because of the lyrics in the beginning, I think it is

That's what I thought too when I saw the lyrics for it.. and even though it's a short song, it's one of my favorites from Dos

I guess my take on Nightlife is as follows:

-Was I excited when I heard Green Day was doing a song with rap in it? Hell no

-After hearing Nightlife, do I ever want Green Day to foray into the rap genre again? Hell no

-Do I think Nightlife is an abomination, absolutely terrible and Green Day should be ashamed of themselves for doing it? Not really

This is really just another (not as funny) "dominated love slave" or "last ride in" or "king for a day," a way for the guys to sort of branch out and try something different to sort of break up the monotony so to speak. Gotta give them credit for trying something different, even if you think its garbage, which I don't.

I don't think that because there is one line that says "my middle name is danger" that the song is about his son. The lyrics are so loose that it could be, but we have no way of knowing, and that one line isn't really a huge reason to believe it is imo.

I'm appreciating Uno! much more now that I listened to Dos! :)

I mean I already loved it before, but now is different.

Exactly if anything Billie may just have a shout out to Jacob but not the whole song

Just got my official download link from the Ultimate Box Set, so couldn't resist firing up the laptop and getting a high-quality version rather than the leak. Have to say I'm really glad it's officially out now.

The leak was CD quality though! :P

I finally got around to posting my Dos review (or commentary, whatever it is). I never posted the Uno one before because I don't really like it, but I refer to it in the Dos one so yeah, I included it. They're here if anyone wants to read them. :)

I am, without a doubt, head over heals in love with Wild One.

I just got the album, and I've fallen completely in love with Wild One.

Is it just me who doesn't get the love for Wild One at all? On my first listen to the album it stood out for me as the worst song, and my opinion hasn't changed that much.

According to iTunes, I've listened to it 14 times now. It's had a fair shot at winning me over.

I am DOS-addicted... UNO is somewhat disturbing to me, I miss the freshness, the groove, it sounds somewhat... hm... pop-tamed, clean, middle of the road. Well. I got used to it meanwhile...

But DOS is one of my favourite GD-releases. I can´t get enough of it, I play it all day long since I bought it last friday, and it just freaks me out! Lady Cobra and Nightlife are my favourites, I love the groove, the rolling rhythm. Wow!That´s loud is another top-of-the-list, along with FuckTime, Ashley and Lazy Bones. And the rest... It´s smashing, so lush and sexy, rockin´and rollin´, cheeky, and I´ve got the feeling they enjoyed making their own kind of music without the need to stick to a certain style or fulfill expectations. They just feel free to do their own thing - and DOS drives me mad...! It´s my best of the best!

I have to say that after 3 or so listens I am a bit disappointed.

Actually I'm disappointed.

Most songs sound like fillers (e.g. Wild One, Makeout Party (Mike's bass saves it somewhat), Lady Cobra, Wow! That's loud), and Nightlife is the worst song they have ever done. I managed to listen through it the 1st time, but after that it has been a skip after 10-15 seconds into the rapping. I mean I have never been a rapping fan, but it can sound adequate. This doesn't. Billie Joe's parts are Okay, but no. I'm okay for them to try out something new, but this went too far for me.

Fortunately Lazy Bones, Stray Heart, Amy and Ashley save the day a bit, but overall I have to say that this is very mediocre. If it would have gone from Baby Eyes to Amy and ended there after 10 songs it would have been okay, but these bad songs there in between aren't what I'm looking for.

I will review this later on as I did with UNO!, but UNO! fared a lot better in the early listens for me.

For now I would have to put it even below 39/smooth which was previously my least favorite album. (no hate for this please cause I think 39/smooth is still a good album).

Well, finally managed to listen to it all the way through, and first thoughts are I like it (not that I didn't expect to), no 'bad' songs yet again. Wasn't sure if I was gonna like Nightlife, but its not as bad as I was imagining (after hearing the clip on Radio 1), not too keen on the ending of Wow, Thats Loud, but really like the rest of the song. And not overly sure about Makeout Party or even Wild One. I thought track 1 was very "Simon and Garfunkel". Loving Lazy Bones, and Baby Eyes. Anyway, I'm away to listen a few more times, whilst trying to work !!!
