November's Storms
Giving it a 2nd listen now. Nightlife is slowly growing on me. Wild One still my least favourite song, Stray Heart my favourite. If only ever new member had that insight and concern for what they post. A great review that I mostly agree with. Thanks for posting! I actually think songs from Uno will be better for stadium live shows. Like these songs are cool and all but I don't see them fitting in very well at an arena show Overall, yeah I agree with you but some songs from iDos! will be great once the fans learn the lyrics. Lazy Bones and Stray Heart will be great singalong songs.
BornToLose
Gotta agree with you... I thought the song was gonna be about a song that's loud... not an outfit It's not about an outfit... It's about fucking.
tvrman
I concur with November's Storms, in fact I only read your post because he highlighted it. There are nearly 40 years age difference between us and yet I agree with about 90% of your analysis and comments on DOS - a great review, have you considered applying to the NME for a job ? Btw Lazy Bones is my favourite as well, but I think you are being harsh on UNO.
November's Storms
With both iUno! and iDos! it is such a feeling of relief to just listen and rock out to an album taking it on face value and nothing more. No more do I have to analyze the depth of a concept album.
JaHawk2009
Before I do my short track-by-track, why all the hate for Nightlife?! I can't stop listening to it... See You Tonight - Short, slightly creepy, melodic; love it and DAT SEGUE Fuck Time - Cheesy, stupid, silly and amazing. Have never listened to it before, always resisted live videos but I really love it Stop When The Red Lights Flash - Reminds me of FBHT crossed with The Network. Which is fine by me. Not among my favourites on the album, but yeah it's good Lazy Bones - Nom. It seems almost grown-up and serious, which is definitely a good thing Wild One - Not a stand-out song for me but I definitely enjoy it well enough. Fits with the album as a whole, if we look at it as a concept album Makeout Party - Instant love. Great song with some pretty cool fucked-up lyrics Stray Heart - Not my favourite on the album, but even when this was a single I had to listen a few times before I liked it. I know it's controversial, but not that great Ashley - I love it. Got some really great lyrics ("you're looking like hell and you're no fucking saint"/"Used to call it speed but now it's crystal meth") and is pretty catchy in general. Almost reminds me of something from the American Idiot story. And whenever I hear the Meth lyric, I think of Breaking Bad Baby Eyes - Reminds me of Sweet 16. Except I like this more. Again, a great song with some interesting lyrics Lady Cobra - Loved it since the Radio 1 debacle, and that hasn't changed a bit. Still just as amazing as it always was, very reminiscent of FBHT and possibly one of my favourite songs on the album, although every song is really good Nightlife - Everyone is hating on this?! I for one love it, and actually want to hear more of this sort of thing even though its a very unique song. Even if some of the lyrics are cheesy, childish and obvious attempts at being sexual, I love it. Easily in my top 3 of the album Wow! That's Loud - Filler. Not my favourite song by any means, but I guess it's good? I'm not entirely sure yet. It's silly, which is fun Amy - Beautiful. A gorgeous, sobering melody to end the party with, if only because of BJA's vocals. Absolutely gorgeous, and I wish this would sell as a single, because it deserves as much exposure as it can get. DOS - 9/10. In my top 5, not Green Day albums, but Top 5 albums ever. My top albums in case you care 1. American Idiot 2. The Black Parade 3. Kerplunk 4. DOS 5. Origin of Symmetry 6. Dookie

Neon Light
Alright, so after giving Nightlife a few listens, I've decided it is terrible. I appreciate that they are trying a different style, but thank god it's only one song. Good try, never again please. But aside from that, this album fucking rocks. I don't really get the hate for Stop When The Red Lights Flash though. That drum intro, how it gets louder and louder, is so good.
November's Storms
On their new album Muse made an attempt at a dubstep song using rock band instruments (Unsustainable) and it took a while but I love it now. I'd imagine the same thing will happen to me with Nightlife.
Neon Light
At the moment my favourite songs are Fuck Time, Lazy Bones, Makeout Party, Stray Heart and Ashley. Those at least are the most memorable.

Hermione
Funny, that's how I feel listening to 99% of rap music. You're listening to the wrong rap music Haven't listened to the full song but I love the long clip of Nightlife that came out. I really like the fact that they'd experiment with rap because it's a genre of music I love and the idea of Green Day mixed with it makes me squee (Like A Rat Does Cheese, with all it's lyrics quoted from classic gangsta rap songs, had the same effect). But Nightlife doesn't even sound that rap-like to me. It's more like sultry, sleazy talking than full on rapping, certainly nothing that could be compared to any modern mainstream rap. I think it works perfectly and I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest of the song.

Neon Light
I have a problem. Every time I finish listening to the album, I crave See You Tonight/Fuck Time again. Then I let myself listen up to Lazy Bones, then Makeout Party, and like that I've listened to the entire album again. And then I want Fuck Time again and.... Guest DisapppearingBoy
There's Ashley named girl on GDC. She was really excited to hear that song. Oh! I just remembered one thing. During the recording of this triology Green Day did reveal this one girl that Billie was writing about on his songs. Was that Ashley? I can't really remember what the whole story was. PanicAttack!
I love Amy, but it doesn't fit I think.. What are you talking about? It's on the album so of course it fits. Green Day made the album, so they define what it is, and what fits. Amy is a magnificent outro. Nobody would listening to 40 minutes with the same power, speed and volume. Harry Potter.
Yesterday I gave you my "first listen" ratings. Now it's time for my "official" ratings. See You Tonight - (Can't compare because it's an intro). F**k Time - Perfect start to the album. Absolutely love it. This is bound to become a Green Day classic. - 8.7/10. Stop When The Red Lights Flash - Awesome and full of energy from start to finish. - 8.3/10. Lazy Bones - Absolutely love this one. After it stops, you don't expect it to come back... But then it does. And in an epic way. - 8.9/10. Wild One - Nice little tune. The solo is one of the highlights of the album. - 7.4/10. Makeout Party - Just a great, badass song. Loving the bass solo in the bridge. - 7.2/10. Stray Heart - I did realize many times while listening to this album that Stray Heart just doesn't fit to the rest. With every listen, I am becoming more sure of my guess that it was intended to be on Tre! (which it luckily is not on because I can feel that that album will be epic, while this song... Well... Not really...). This song has more of a lighter twist to it, the themes are not as heavy and dark as the rest of the album. - 6.5/10. Ashely - And here we go. Fantastic angry, mean lyrics, great and melodic chorus. My favorite song on the album and in fact, one of my favorites from Green Day's entire carreer. - 9.8/10 Baby Eyes - Ashley neatly flows into this one, and my eargasms carry on on this track. This is one of those songs which you can always listen to and they just won't get old. - 9.6/10. Lady Cobra - Green Day doing rock n roll doesn't really appeal to me. It's alright. - 6/10. Nightlife - I hoped that Lady Cobra would flow into this one but it didn't. Whatever, I'm happy with See You Tonight flowing into F**k Time and Ashley into Baby Eyes. The thing with Ashley and Baby Eyes is that they don't REALLY flow into each other. But Billie yelling "GO GO GO GO!!!" is so quick after Ashley finished, that it feels as if they did. Back on topic, Nightlife is... I don't know how to explain my feelings for this song... It's... Funny... - 7.6/10. Wow! That's Loud! - DAT GUITAR RIFF. - 8.7/10. Amy - Great great great GREAT GREAT and let me repeat again GREAT outro to the album. GREAT. - 8.2/10. Overall rating: 44.2/60 or 87.7/120 = 73%/B. Damn, I feel like I've gone waaaay too critical on this. I just want to get my point across: I like Dos! more than Uno! even though I think it is less listenable. To compare, here are my ratings for Uno!: Nuclear Family - Nice pop-punk song with a nice melody. The countdown at the end is as if Green Day wanted to send a message to the listener: 1 off, 36 to go! Also, Jason White really gets to shine on this track - 8.4/10. Stay the Night - Much like Nuclear Family, nice pop-punk song with a nice melody. Actually, I like it even more than Nuclear Family. - 8.7/10. Carpe Diem - Good melody, with a good solo. - 8/10. Let Yourself Go - A classic. - 9.4/10. Kill the DJ - A new direction for Green Day. Nonetheless, I really enjoy this song. - 8.5/10. Fell For You - Nice chorus. That's about it. - 6.4/10. Loss of Control - It's supposed to be a good song but I just can't feel it. I don't know, I've given this song so many chances... - 6.2/10. Troublemaker - For the second time on this album, Green Day is experimenting with a new direction. And I like it, I like it a lot. - 8.4/10. Angel Blue - Good song. If I listen more closely though, somewhere deep inside of Angel Blue something is missing for me. I don't know what it it, but... Anyway, I like it. - 8.2/10. Sweet 16 - Awesome! Used to be my favorite off of the album for a long time! - 9/10. Rusty James - Another great track. A bit wrose than Sweet 16. - 8.7/10 Oh Love - The first single from the album. Catchy as a Nicki Minaj song. - 8.2/10. Overall rating - 48.1/60 or 96.2/120 = 80%/A-. I like how they captured that "room environment" Billie was talking about in that Big Cheese article recently. Y'know? Just playing in a room together, as a band. I like how they put it into this album. At some places it just doesn't work though. You just want loud guitars to crash in, but they just don't... So Uno! got a better rating from me than Dos!. But I still prefer Dos!. Why? Because I realized I prefer Dos! because it had a few better songs (Ashley, Lazy Bones, Baby Eyes, etc...) than anything on Uno!. It also had a few worse songs than anything on Uno! (Lady Cobra, Stray Heart, etc...) so it got a worse rating overall. Uno! doesn't have anything super-outstanding except for Let Yourself Go, but in average it got a better rating. The "bads" on Dos! aren't super-bad anyway. They're just "alright" which is below the Green Day standard for me. So I prefer to get through songs like Stray Heart to then hear songs like Ashley rather than have an all-round good album like Uno!. So, overall I really do prefer Dos!. And just to make this clear, I don't hate any of the songs mentioned in this post. Some are "alright" at their worst, but they're below the Green Day standard for me and that is why I criticize them. But don't get me wrong, I really do not dislike them. I like them. I don't think any of us is interested in these ratings. I barely read those posts. I am. Shredder2
I haven't caved in on the album, and I hope I don't, because I never caved in on any GD album that ever illegally leaked. I'll admit I caved in on other of my favorites' albums, but I can't imagine doing it with GD, especially Dos! So really, I know that I'm missing out, especially after reading what you guys have been saying about the album.
