¡DOS! Album

I guess we just expect more from Billie. We know he can do better than that. A lot better. Ashley and Baby Eyes would be weak tracks on Insomniac or Kerplunk. And Stray Heart is just instantly forgettable throwaway nonsense. It tries to be all serious, but I can't feel any emotion behind the lyrics. And thats a big problem for me.

Stray Heart is catchy but that's about it. It's not as good as it could have been.

I find that very hard to believe. Are you maybe exaggerating a little?

If you aren't I find that very surprising as I find the song very upbeat and it has a good flow throughout the song.

It's not the best of the trilogy, but I put it in my "trilogy soundtrack" of 13 songs, so I find it good.

I admit that the lyrics aren't Shakespeare or actually even close to Billie's best, but the music is very good.

Nah, the song just doesn't cut it for me. I agree that the sonic vibe is cool, but if I want retro/garage rock done well I'll pop in the Tubbies album. There's no sense listening to a half-assed version of Mother Mary when the real thing is more satisfying.

You can't expect ALL 37 songs to be great lyrically AND send out a special message to you, that's just fucking unreal. Stray Heart is a good song, unlike you, I found the chorus to be one of the catchiest out of the whole trilogy, top spot goes to "Missing You" though :P

I didn't expect each track to be perfect. That's the beauty of the trilogy--we can all find something different to enjoy. I was trying to articulate why I dislike this song that a majority of listeners adore, just to supply a different perspective. I will agree that Missing You is a catchy bastard. Though I've only racked up a few listens, it's already lodged in my head.

My feelings on the song exactly. It's catchy, but I'd prefer to just listen to Foxboro.

I've now listened to Nightlife enough times that I know all the words. I can just imagine what I look like when I'm singing it in the car. I like that Monica's part is from the perspective of that voice in your head that likes to get you into trouble instead of that of some random girl.

I love how the music in Stray Heart has a rockabilly feel to it. It's happy and bouncy even if the lyrics really aren't and I'm constantly getting it stuck in my head.

I don't understand the point of people who say that they should just make it a Foxboro Hot Tubs record. Foxboro Hot Tubs = Green Day. They're the same band, all but officially. And considering that they were just supposed to be letting it all out and having a blast, as Green Day, I don't see why they should have to separate it? Besides, promoting/touring under a different name at the same time that Green Day proper is releasing stuff doesn't make sense... It's clear the band are making some changes/adding to their sound. I don't see why the Foxboro Hot Tubs has to be separate... The only reason they made it in the first place was to sort of let loose some random music during 21CB...

Yeah, the song still makes me giggle cause her parts are so silly (kind of... mainly because of the language she uses which I can't take all that seriously). But I like the idea of the voice in your head, too.

Ashley, Baby Eyes and Lady Cobra are THE best of the bunch out of Dos!

Lady Cobra is sure in my favorites. But I can't say the same about Ashley and Baby Eyes. However, I don't have a rational explanation as to why I don't like them. I just don't. I don't know, they don't sound that cool or catchy to me. I'd rather have Wow! That's Loud, Stray Heart, SWTRLF, or the oh so hated Nightlife.

Stray Heart is easily a top 3 song of the entire trilogy. Honestly one of the best songs they've ever made, extremely respectable.

Agreed. It's so damn catchy. And coming off AI and 21stCB, this (and Stay the Night) were exactly the kind of songs I've been dreaming they would make. Simple, accessible songs that almost everyone can relate to. When I first heard it, I was amazed at how they managed to deliver exactly what I wanted from them!

I really can't praise the song enough!

I think part of the reason I love Stray Heart is actually the lyrics. They're definitely simple, nothing like the ones that made me look up to Billie so much, but I feel like they have a reasonably deep meaning anyway. Whilst it's obviously referring to infidelity, I can't really see it as an "apology", more that the narrator is embracing his "stray heart". It's so happy and sad at the same time, like he's saying he's where he belongs now and they'll never part... but he can't truly "have" the person because he belongs to someone else, and the relationship is forbidden. That's just my personal interpretation but I really like it.

It's the music that got me too though, I don't know why but I just love it. So catchy and beautiful.

Does anyone else think the intro to Wow! That's loud sounds extremely...christmas-y?

I think it sounds very Celtic. It makes me want to bust out an Irish jig.

It's not the lyrics that remind me of Christmas! When I say intro I mean the guitar riff during first few seconds of the song. It just sounds very christmas-y.

It reminds me more of the football songs used in DRB to be honest. :P

Now the excitement and freshness of the trilogy has faded a little, I think Dos is actually my favourite album of the three. There isn't a song I dislike on it which is a first for any album by any band. I love the dark/icky/brash vibe that puts a lot of people off. Yay.

Definitely my first thoughts too. Loving the little Dropkick Murphy's moments on these albums, real Minority vibe going on :D

Actually Stray Heart was one of those songs of which you could predict the melody before you even heard it. It's a really common song with melodies and dynamics that are used in A LOT of songs. For me, Stray Heart is not more than a nice little pop-song which you can listen to without listening, y'know what I'm saying? Don't get me wrong, I love the new albums! But Stray Heart is a little too straight-forward for me :$

I still don't understand why this is the album that many people, fans and others, hate. This is actually my favorite album in the trilogy, along with Tre! I don't know why so many people can't stand it! Haha.

Also, Baby Eyes is probably one of my favorite songs on the album. Haha go figure! XD

And I can't stand Ashley too. Hahahah man I feel like a loner here in so many different ways.

At first, Ashley was my favorite song on the album. The more I've listened to it though, the more generic and boring it seems to me. It's one of my least favorites from the trilogy now :P

Dos is my least favorite out of the trilogy, but I love Wow! That's Loud with a passion
