deadair
I'm not sure if anybody else noticed this but I'm not going to look through 123 pages of posts to find out, so sorry if this is a repeat. Has anybody else noticed a resemblance between the Lady Cobra riff and the riff of the classic Kiss song Detroit Rock City? It's definitely not a rip-off, but intentional or not I think it's a cool homage. It certainly fits within the throwback 1960s-1970s rock feel of iDos! Mykee Mexx
Was listening to Lazy Bones earlier today, and a brand-new idea about the song's meaning came into my head. It sounds like the narrator is worried about their partner cheating on them. It makes so much sense in that context! Lyrics like "I don't want your sympathy, I don't want your honesty, I just wanna get some piece of mind..." stood out to me so much more. Can't exactly vouch for how true this interpretation is (and I don't think it is right, honestly), but it's just funny how much each line fits in with that story. I might do a little blog post about it illustrating what I mean. Has anybody else thought of it this way?? Well, the more often I listen to Dos, the more I get the idea of someone´s singing about marital or partner problems. Someone losing control and trying to explain. I was listening to it today with your comment in my head, and it kind of works well - from 'all the liars' to 'odour in the air' 'too sick to throw up' and just about the whole section after the break. Nice work.
Hermione
I like how in Fuck Time the lyrics of the original live song were usually "I wanna hold you til I'm paralyzed", but on the album version it's always "I wanna hold you til you're paralyzed". Much more considerate In other news I love Dos so much that I'm a bit sad Tre's out so soon. I've been listening to it non stop and I wouldn't mind carrying on doing that a bit longer. My favourites are Wow! That's Loud, Wild One and Stop When The Red Lights Flash. Dirty, retro, rock and roll goodness.

Much more considerate They changed the original lyrics a lot, didn't they? I know there were a few versions he sang live, but I swear it was always "pretty thoughts in a dirty mind," but maybe I was just hearing it wrong. Bastard of 1967
Well, fuck. I had no idea. Guess it's not as "commonly used in the United States" as Wikipedia would like us to think.Heh! Spend a little more time in the corporate world and I guarantee you'll hear it more often. There's also the one we use when building new systems and then being our own test guinea-pigs before we open it up for broader pilot-testing. We call this "eating our own dog food." #BURP. Going to have to wait another month after Tré is released to get it now too. Yeah! I did that too!! So annoying! Luckily I got the digital version at time, but still it's not like the real thing! So probably going to be a long wait for Tre...
Met Fan
I dunno if this opinion was expressed here but some ridiculous dummies on last.fm seem to think it's creepy for a 40 year old to sing about Makeout Parties, numb skull. I think if you're okay with the idea of a make out party then age is irrelevant, you either find it appropriate or not in general. And also a moment here to express how dumb the use of the word "creepy" by Green Day fans are getting. You want creepy? I think it's fuckin creepier to imagine a teenage make out party than people in their 40's make out party. At least the adults for the most part know what they're doing and responsible for their actions in that regard. I do think however than after the age of 30 they're no longer called make out parties, they're called orgies and they're much sweeter and "creepier" than these dumbfucks could handle so consider Billie Joe is being appropritate & discreet with these lyrics heh
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap
Well I suppose it ties in with the overall impression Green Day's detractors have of Green Day as old men who court a teenage audience.

Hermione
At the moment whenever my 5 year old nephew comes round he requests a "Green Day disco", which consists of us listening to Wow! That's Loud while drumming on the bin lid with spoons, singing the "woo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooo-oooo-oooo-oooo-ooooooo" parts at top volume, and laughing at all the random noise at the end. He enjoys the song very much. I enjoy it even more because of this I dunno if this opinion was expressed here but some ridiculous dummies on last.fm seem to think it's creepy for a 40 year old to sing about Makeout Parties, numb skull. I think if you're okay with the idea of a make out party then age is irrelevant, you either find it appropriate or not in general. Not to mention 40 is still a pretty young age anyway! You'd think they were pensioners singing about this stuff the way some people talk about it (although I'd be all for it even if they were haha). PaulS
One of the truths about age is that you don't ever really feel any older. People tell you that all the time when you're young, but you don't really understand it. So when your average 13-year-old Green Day fan thinks they're being creepy talking about making out or even sex, it's only natural. I'm no less interested in that stuff than I was ten years ago, and I'm sure I'll feel the same in another ten years. Very quickly, 40 doesn't seem old at all. Damn kids.
