Cob
While I absolutely love every song on this album, Stray Heart still takes the cake as far as being my favorite of the album, or hell, even the entire trilogy. Though from what I've heard so far, X-Kid may at the very least become tied with Stray Heart as being my favorite (I'm also one of the few whose favorite off ¡Uno! is Kill the DJ). And to be honest now that I've been able to listen to the album in full for about two weeks now, I wouldn't put it ahead of or below ¡Uno!. I love both albums just the same. Each of 'em have their own sound, zero filler tracks (in my honest opinion) and they just flat out fucking rock to me. These three albums will no doubt be up there on my list of favorite Green Day albums such as Nimrod, Dookie, Insomniac and 21stCB. And when I decide to listen to the full album now, I have to listen to ¡Uno! in its entirety first. Once Oh Love is finished, See You Tonight pops on, and it's like the beginning of a whole new roller coaster ride. Can't wait until I play the first two albums in full to where Amy ends and Brutal Love begins. It's gonna be the start of a whole new musical journey come December, one that I'll be ecstatic about going on. I have trouble saying which album I like more as well. They're so different, it feels like I would undermine them if I said one was better. Dos, because of the (mostly successful) musical variety does come off as a stronger album, but even then I can't really say which one I like more, let alone which is "better". WrongWayToSalvation
Last I checked, people contribute and participate here for intelligent discussion about Green Day, not to be on the receiving end of spiteful abuse. Peace out, buddy. I was being saracastic. Almost everything any artist writes ever could be connected to something else, because it all comes from the same mind. I was talking about how people can make things out to be a lot more complex and intelligent than it was probably actually intended. Like Kurt Cobain for example, he admits that a lot of his lyrics are just random lines thrown together, yet a lot of people try to make these super complex interpretations out of them. Like for example if I said something stupid like "I pissed in the grass", some people would then interpret it as being about the state of the enviorment, and people's passive apperciation and destruction of it. It's just kind of funny to me.

The thing about poetry is it can be so ambiguous that there can be a whole lot of meanings. Even a whole lot of intended meanings. (Or, you can just come right out and say it... In which case there is probably still some other sort of interpretation for it). But also just because something isn't consciously intended, that doesn't mean that it doesn't still ring true. Cob
After saving myself the trouble, I decided to checkout Sputnik Music's review of Dos. All I can say is "HA". What's even funnier is when the community in the comment's takes it seriously. Honestly they hate everything they get their hands on, what the fuck do they listen to if they hate everything? What's even funnier is when the community in the comment's takes it seriously. Honestly they hate everything they get their hands on, what the fuck do they listen to if they hate everything? yeah, they really hate a lot of stuff, I guess they just listen to bands that are not very mainstream. Maybe they all are frustrated musicians. lol Anyway, I've been listening a lot to ¡Dos! and Stop, Drop and Roll! lately and both albums are awesome. Still, the Foxboro one is my favourite, I can't explain how much I love this album. Btw, I love ¡Dos!, I like it more than 21st Century Breakdown, but it's hard to compare it with ¡Uno!, I really can't decide which one I like the most. KickingKangaroos
Well, I don't know if I should be making this since my opinions will definitely change in the coming weeks (like with every album) but here's my ¡DOS! Review! SEE YOU TONIGHT - Basically a 1 minutes intro to the party. Has a really creepy stalker vibe to it, almost like All By Myself off Dookie. Personally, it's a 1 listen song before it never appeals to you again. 2.5/10 FUCK TIME - (Off topic but did u notice that fuck was censored on the back of the album and the lyric book yet on the actual CD, it wasn't censored for Fuck Time. Kinda weird but whatever) OK done with that, Fuck Time is a stupid song... Which makes it AWESOME. Just a fun song with a silly chorus and moans in between the pre-chorus an chorus. Great song, one of the albums best. 8.5/10 STOP WHEN THE RED LIGHTS FLASH - Isn't it supposed to be DON'T Stop When The Red Lights Flash like in Oh Love? Weird to me but whatever, Great intro riff and vocals by Billie, one of my favorites right off the hop, sounds like a song from American Idiot (Good thing). 9/10 LAZY BONES - I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a top 5 track off ¡DOS!, maybe a top 5 of the entire trilogy (so far). Absolutely fantastic song. The chorus is beautiful, guitars have a nice tone to them, just an all-around really great song. 10/10 WILD ONE - Probably the slowest-fast song on the album (if that makes sense), not one of my favorites although its good. Kinda drags on one verse and chorus too long, would probably be one of my favorites if that 2nd pass through of the main verse and chorus' were not there, still good song, great solo. 7.75/10 MAKEOUT PARTY - Sounds fun, but seriously this is one of the best songs on the album. The vocals, drum syncopation, bass riffs, guitar solos, this song is really growing on me. Lyrics are unoriginal but this is a really good song. One of the albums best, maybe a top 5 track. 9.5/10 STRAY HEART - A very different song, Stray Heart is definitely a top 5 track of the album. Very light song (if that makes sense. I've said that joke twice now.). Actually, bright would be a better word to describe it. Very melodic song, this song is a stray (see what I did there) from the rest of the album, but that's not a bad thing. Whenever Green Day does a different type of song like Kill The DJ or something, it's always executed very well. This one is a fabulous example. 10/10 BABY EYES - The intro riff to this song is dark (if that makes sense) (If that makes sense counter: 3) I thought this would be a song based off that riff, but it turns to a brighter song by the verse before some "whoa-o-o-o-o's" in the chorus. I wish they would've gone with the direction of the intro riff but even still, I would say its a top 5 song off ¡DOS! 9.75/10 ASHLEY - Tied for best song of the trilogy so far hands down. Now this song is very dark yet full of energy. The verses are spot on, chorus' are great and pre-chorus' are perfect. The "O-Whoa-O's" are absolutely beautiful. Solo is very melodic and fun to play on guitar. (Starts on 4th fret, G-string and 5th fret, B-String (together) if you play guitar and don't know the riff) Ashley is a masterpiece. One of Green Day's best songs ever. 11/10 LADY COBRA - This is what Ashley is tied with. This song fits the album perfectly. The guitar works amazingly with Billie's epic vocals and Tre's drumming. This was basically my favorite from as soon as I heard it. Definitly one of the most underrated Green Day songs ever. 11/10 NIGHTLIFE - TRAINWRECK. 0/10. OK but seriously, I praise Green Day for trying something so out of the box but this is one of the only songs where Green Day's failed at executing a new idea really well. Wait I know why, because Billie only sings 25% of the song. The other shit is some chick Lady Cobra rapping. (You can barely call it rap it's so bad.) Even Billie's parts annoying with the delay and distortion. The bass riff is only thing decent thing about this song. Like I said earlier, TRAINWRECK. 1.5/10 WOW! THAT'S LOUD - "Doo-Do-Doo-Do-Doo-Do-Doo-Do-Do-Do-Do-Do-Dooo." Catchiest intro riff EVER. But seriously intro riff is super catchy. This song is a sing-along in my opinion. Not much going on guitar-wise but the vocals are great. The solo is really good though. The best part of the song is all the random noises and shit going on. Personally I think it should've been the closer. 9.25/10 AMY - Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Guitar tone is fucking awesome, vocals ("Singin, whoa-o-owao please don't go") and emotion are fucking amazing but unfortunately I skip this song every time it's on shuffle because of its slowness. Personally, I think it should've been on ¡TRÈ! so i could listen to all of ¡DOS! and have to skip only See You Tonight and Trainwreck (A.K.A Nightlife) but nevertheless, the song is fucking beautiful. 10/10 ¡DOS! - Album is a masterpiece with a unesscesary intro and a trainwreck called Nightlife, if u make a playlist without those two, one of the best 10-11 song playlist out there. Overall best album since Dookie! 9.5/
BlackBaboon
After saving myself the trouble, I decided to checkout Sputnik Music's review of Dos. All I can say is "HA". What's even funnier is when the community in the comment's takes it seriously. Honestly they hate everything they get their hands on, what the fuck do they listen to if they hate everything? I really don't know why Sputnik gets all of this hate on here. I mean, I understand that they haven't reviewed the last few Green Day records well, but to say they hate everything they get their hands on makes it seem like no one even reads any of their other reviews. Just by typing in a few of my favorite acts, I've found multiple five star reviews with averages over 4/5 for Bad Religion, The Pixies, The Clash, the Velvet Underground, and Arcade Fire. Every one of these bands, I believe, has multiple records with over a 4/5 rating average, and they are all well known. Green Day received a 4/5 for Dookie and many of their other records were probably hampered by revisionism. The linked review to Insomniac was published in 2005, after the Idiot backlash by some of the older fans. Granted, the website only started in 2005, but that means you aren't going to get the wave of success and likeability Green Day had in the mid nineties factored in. Their scores are definitely hurt because they've become a band that's cool to bash, but Sputnik music on the whole is not nearly as negative as everyone here likes to say. Well, I'm referring to their "user" reviews and some of their "staff" reviews. They tend to bash on things simply because they're popular. I do agree that they review certain things highly, but some, if not most of those, are terribly written user reviews. I disliked Sputnik even before I became a member of this board and I'm certainty not going to like them now. They can provide insightful opinions on things, but I rarely if ever see this. November's Storms
Are Dos' album sales in yet? Maybe, and I know it's a bit silly replying to your question when I don't have the answer, but album sales can't really be compared to those in previous years, particularly in the 90s because we download and share everything now. An album these days could be much more successful than the sales would show.

sick
loved UNO from the first listen... But DOS.. UNO was more positive vibes. I'm married but felt like betrayal..hard to explain... more about agressive feelings for me. It's like partying too hard, drunk and doing drugs and sleeping with other men. I'm feeling like i've done something wrong and now i have a hangover. LOL. I'm starting to like it more and more. I think as a newly wed i'm at such a happy phase of my life that agression feels weird. But i'm getting there. I love analyzing!!
