blitzkriegdeb
Billie's rant at iHeart was just a result of whatever he had been doing beforehand, which was probably drinking. He's never been one to hold in his anger when he's pissed off at something, and that + alcohol = the iHeart fiasco. That aside, I know this is going to sound weird, but I was never expecting any of the trilogy albums to reach American Idiot (that'd be damn near impossible) or even 21stCB's popularity. There isn't a demand for Green Day now. 21stCB was as popular (or lack thereof, however you look at it) as it was basically because it was the follow up to American Idiot, and people were interested to see what they would do next. Now that all of the dust has settled from American Idiot, people just aren't interested. Personally, I think even if the albums got a lot of promotion and whatnot, they still wouldn't hit number 1. Green Day just isn't what's popular at the moment, and thus, people aren't really going to go out and look for them. Again, all that aside, I think Dos is fucking amazing and all that jazz. BlackBaboon
Ok...im done with this stupidity. Ever seen Jaded in Chicago? Go youtube it ok. You shall see a high Billie Joe play a gig...during which he will among other things make lots of random weird speeches that make zero sense including one about how he wants to go get on his "big wheel" and "tonka truck"...also he spent time sticking his tongue out while calling the audience "motherfuckers" etc. Basically he played he rambled he made no sense and guess what...nobody judged him afterwards. He did not have a fucking tantrum at iheart he was OBVIOUSLY high and/or drunk and was ranting rubbish about nothing. It may as well have been about big wheels and tonka trucks...alas im wasting my time. Believe whatever im gonna go listen to Dos. That entitled tantrum throwing bastard knows how to make an epic fucking album. Seen it. Not even close to the same. Play them back to back. Not even close. Listen to how he reacts to his set not even being cut short

Guest
Wonder if there will be any singles from iDos! cause there was only Stray Heart, right? I feel like they might release singles offa DOS and TRE when they're finally set, some bands (see Twin Atlantic) released singles 1/2 years after their CDs came out. So I see a possibility for singles to come out later on Post-Release stage. But who knows.. The songs on UNO and DOS have this tone on this guitar that's just sooo good to the ears and I love it too. It's perfect to be honest. Side Note: I see your from San Jose too ! SWEET and i said it a thousand times and now a thousand one: both could have been incredible albums if they would have recorded it with the their older distorted guitar sound. I get the hebbie jeebies when someone quotes a song in a normal conversation... either that, or it's a conicidence..
**nobodylikesyou**
Seen it. Not even close to the same. Play them back to back. Not even close. Listen to how he reacts to his set not even being cut short this subject again? I was there. He knew as did the rest of us, how long his set was. He wasn't really upset about that. Most people there felt it was set up. I personally think they all knew BJA needed help and they manufactured the iHeart meltdown to make it work given the poor timing with the album release a few days later. I like these albums, but I do not love them. Except Lazy Bones.

Zelda
I saw a lot of hate for Ashley on Facebook. Shame, it's one of my favorites off the album. I just fucking LOVE the way Billie sings the verses. Gah. I picture him with this devilish sneer on his face when he sings it, I don't know why. I think it might be because I've been in a bad mood the last day or so. I consider them both angry songs. I think songs tend to mean more to you when you can relate to them on a personal level. The Snark
It was indeed a hissy fit and it's embarrassing for a forty year old man to be in that situation anyway. He was like my uncle on new years eve except he was on a live broadcast. Just because someone is abusing a substance doesn't justify their behavior. I've just been reading this 'debate' for fun and wasn't going to stepin, but I can't hold it in any longer. Have you ever been around someone who has abused drugs? And I'm not talking simple stuff like alcohol and weed...I'm talking cocaine and heroin. Have you ever been a witness to someone so off their rocker that they aren't even aware of where they are or what they're saying? Have you ever had a knife pulled on you by a family member who won't ever remember that moment, but you're scarred forever? Have you ever watched what that shit does to someone you love, and know that no matter how much you do, nothing will change them? I'm guessing not, because what you said right there is utter ignorant bullshit. You're acting like a bratty child who needs to be correct all the time. We get it...you don't like the cd. Now give your copy of Dos to a friend and GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!

I just fucking LOVE the way Billie sings the verses. Gah. I picture him with this devilish sneer on his face when he sings it, I don't know why. I love the way he sings the verses, too. I dunno, I just love his singing on pretty much all of these songs. It doesn't sound polished, it just sounds... Well, I get chills. And the melodies themselves the way he hits them... yeah. It's good stuff. Annnd... when he's singing something angry it seems like he does that sneer lip curling thing a lot . Maybe that's why . I'm excited to hear these songs live! I don't know which they'll play, but any will work for me. I do hope we definitely hear Amy and Lazy Bones, though. And Fuck Time will probably get thrown in the mix, if not all the time then some of the time.

Femme Gauche
Yeah, that would be great, I am not sure I see that selling like crazy though... Well, I suppose that is relative, but. Also not sure if they'd pull it out for touring really. But it's hard to judge, because there is so much new material... And it kind of turns their "current" set on its head. But yeah. It's catchy as fuck, too.
Vespertine
Sorry I just can't stop face palming. What he did is not excusable. An addiction is an addiction. He needs to be treated for it. However he did embarrass himself. He looked like an entitled rock star and no addiction changes that. That is what happened maybe you don't understand the difference between truth and justification. You can repeat that he has an illness incessantly but it doesn't change the facts. I trust he's getting the help he needs which is why I don't deflect. He threw a temper tantrum. He got upset over NOTHING. The band said their set was not cut short. Just copied the gender from cob1994s post. I assumed he or she knew what they were talking about. Get the fuck over it. He threw a tantrum, so what? He made a freaking mistake. Stop holding that irrelevant fact against him. So if the band performed on an award show went on a mini world tour made huge news at iheartradio and released an American idiot single oh and starred in an angry birds game American idiot would move 130000 units in its first week? That's honestly laughable. So basically your point is, Uno and Dos are flopping because they're not good enough? Like seriously that's pretty much what you're saying. And that's fucking absurd. The songs on AI that were chosen as singles are definitely more radio-friendly than the ones on Uno and Dos, but that's about it. Whether their latest songs are better than the ones on American Idiot or not, that's completely subjective.
Cob
I can't wait for Tre to come out so everyone can stop talking about all the problems with Dos I can't wait for Tre period. The songs on UNO and DOS have this tone on this guitar that's just sooo good to the ears and I love it too. It's perfect to be honest. Side Note: I see your from San Jose too ! SWEET The tone on Uno is amazing. It's probably my third favorite guitar tone in music (Top 5: 1. Dookie Tone, 2. Enema of the State tone, 3. Uno/Dos/Tre tone, 4. Metallica Black Album tone, 5. Foo Fighters Wasting Light tone). Aha a local I see! I'm from SJ born and raised and I go to SJSU. I love this city! And for those who were discussing it, I'm a guy. michael1989
Having listened to Dos a couple times now, I think Uno is far better. I agree with the person who said there isn't as much energy and passion as on Uno and that the songwriting is a little uninspired. Only Stray Heart stands out as classic Green Day. I also like Lazy Bones (even if it does sound a lot like Give Me Novocaine), Wild One, F... Time, Baby Eyes and Amy. I suppose with 3 albums being released some filler was expected. Hopefully they'll mix it up a bit with Tre. Can't wait!

I've seen a few people go off the deep end, not all because of drugs, but I have witnessed some unsettling things. HOWEVER, that doesn't change the facts. If someone pulled a knife on you, then they pulled a knife on you. If someone kills someone drunk driving, is that an excuse? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Billie may have fallen victim to addiction to a hardcore drug, I really don't know, but I do know what he did and I do know that it didn't amount to anything more than spoiled whining. This has nothing to do with being right or wrong. I'm just not going to let people shut me up because they dislike what I have to say and want to be insulting about it. Your post makes so many assumptions, it's frightening. I wouldn't give Dos away either. It's not up to par for a Green Day record, but it's still a five or six out of ten and there are two or three really good tracks, just nothing great. Uno on the other hand, well I would lend that to you without any pressure for a return. Get the fuck over it. He threw a tantrum, so what? He made a freaking mistake. Stop holding that irrelevant fact against him. So basically your point is, Uno and Dos are flopping because they're not good enough? Like seriously that's pretty much what you're saying. Of course I was going to defend myself. I'm not even holding it against him really anymore than I hold anyone's recent history against them. However, in an album discussion, I thought it deserved a mention, but I haven't been the one constantly bombarding myself with name calling inciting reply. As for song quality. You're right, American Idiot songs were more radio friendly, but Green Day has always been a radio friendly band. Therefore, I think it is noteworthy that their new songs aren't really getting any airtime. I know people will say that they don't judge themselves based upon how popular their songs are on the radio, but when I hear Mike compare the trilogy to the excitement and spontaneity of Dookie and American Idiot, I can't help but think that they aren't proudest of their biggest commercial successes. Noone here has time to educate ignorant people about serious addiction. We are Green Day fans...we may not like every song on every album but we respect the artists behind the music which is more than can be said for you. Hero_Of_The_Hour
Haha I Understand that! aha that's nice! : ) Not wild about the song though...just can not get my head around it being Green Day y'know? It reminds me of old school No Doubt (her vocals of Gwen say in X Boyfriend in the verses etc) and i was really into No Doubt about ten/fifteen years ago but its weird because its GD...if that makes sense. I also think that it wouldn't sell like crazy but Oh Love also didn't sell like crazy so I think that the band might have a lot of input in choosing the singles so they just pick their favorite songs but that's just what I think. And I really love Lazy Bones but if they actually wanna sell a lot of singles I think they might choose Amy since it's a very soft and radio-friendly song and if that's the case I wouldn't be disappointed at all I think it's a very good song and it deserves to be heard by the entire world.
