tubbyfox
I'm so glad some people have noticed that we seem to be hearing Billie's mid-life crisis and subsequent meltdown being played out on these two albums. Much as I love songs like Stay the Night, Oh Love and Stray Heart (and most of the others actually), I'm finding them heartbreaking as there is obviously some truth in them, and it sounds like Billie has been a very silly Billie. And as for Lazybones, how prophetic and sad is that? Thank goodness some people are saying the songs and ambience are sounding false and a bit forced and maybe they are wishful thinking and imaginary. I really hope they are, but knowing how honest Billie normally is in his song writing, I'm thinking not. If I was his wife, I wouldn't be liking them much. Please convince me I'm wrong! bringonjennifury
Ashley is almost spooky too because my cousin had a girlfriend named Ashley and when he broke up with her she kind of went crazy.
perfectpitchrob
The transition from Baby Eyes to the loud pounding rock of Lady Cobra reminds me of when Reject transitioned to Take Back. It's very Nimrod-esque.
Mykee Mexx
When I first heard Lazy Bones, I knew I had to add it to my How-did-Billie Joe-get-inside-my-head-and-write-exactly-what-i-am-feeling? list of songs. Oh... I see... mind-mirror...
cherrybomb
I can't get over how AWESOME the album is, it's been on reply since it came out, almost non-stop. My favourites so far are Lady Cobra, Night Life, Fuck Time and Stray Heart.
LazyPhil
This album has a lot of pumpass songs! Some of my favorite songs are Lazy Bones, Fuck Time and Stop When The Red Lights Flash. I pretty much like every song on the album except See You Tonight because it has this country sound, not that I hate country but it's just weird and it's not a really catchy song :/

Sometimes I think these songs were written by a man on his way to explosion. And doing three albums in a row shows how much TNT there is/was inside him. As if he needed to spit out all these thoughts and words and melodies before he got choked with it. Or goes insane. Maybe he´s insane anyway... I pretty much like every song on the album except See You Tonight because it has this country sound, not that I hate country but it's just weird and it's not a really catchy song :/ It´s a funny opener to the following Fuck Time, ´cause it´s so cute and harmless, almost pathetic. And then Fuck Time comes in and blows this sweet, clean innocence away and drags it into the depth of the pelvis... I love that!
Femme Gauche
Cognitive dissonance? Ha. He's on stage making out with her. There is quite a bit more to the story from what I hear. The name of the song is her name. I don't care what he said to cover his shit. The song is about her. I don't think I'm the one ignoring the evidence. Billie is not Leonard Cohen. His lyrics are quite interpretable. Now "She", meaning the character represents the things you're talking about. Lady Cobra tells a story. "I met a girl named Lady Cobra"...."She just wants to get me high"...."I just want to be friends". These are not up for interpretation in my mind. It tells the story. She represents her. I love waxing poetic so all good. Let's debate. I was talking about the song Nightlife, the song Lady Cobra is pretty clearly about her (not just because it shares her name, because... that could mean it is inspired by her but has many meanings). TheNimrod51
I interpret Ashley as a guy who's ex was once their entire life then once they broke up she just turned into a trashy bitch and now he wants nothing to do with her. She doesn't know how to handle her problems as the person who once made her happy is gone so she resorted to being a slut and drug addict. "You are a filthy thought in my memory" basically says he regrets ever being with her. Ahhh so relatable.

Huh I interpreted it completely differently, it seems to me that yes, it is someone who was a big part of his life, but that was never totally on the level to begin with, and now he's looking back and saying fuck it, that's not ever going to happen, and I don't even want it anymore. Justin
Lady Cobra is such a tune, reminds me of the Insomniac/ Nimrod era. Fuck Time sounds too polished in my opinion. I was really looking forward to it after hearing the live version, however the solo is a beast. I actually enjoy Nightlife, Mike's bass line is really catchy and good, plus i quite like Lady Cobra's voice (i'm assuming that's her name). You can really tell what was going through Billie's head during the recording process with Lazy Bones too. I doubt he ever thought us fan's would really understand the place he was in without entering rehab. Brings a whole new edge to it.

In a way I agree with you. It almost like she was already out of his league to begin with and he sorta knew it but put it aside untill when they finally split he saw her real colors and who she really is. Heather.
Can I have a guess that the general consensus is that people like Dos more than Uno? I think it's way more polarized though. I think most people thought Uno was good or average, but some people really seem to believe Dos is a gift from heaven while others are more hypercritical than they were with Uno. Yes, that is agreeable, Nightlife probably made it polarised more than normal and the more experimental nature of the album itself in comparison. I feel like I'm the only person who actually prefers Uno My friend preferred Uno, that's about it that I've asked. Uno was ok but I personally prefer Dos due to the more experimental nature of the album, as I've said.

Heather.
I definitely do prefer Uno, and I know I'm not alone. That being said, I think Dos is more cohesive and makes more sense as an album. I actually want to listen to it in order, for some reason. Uno I don't feel that way, I just kinda pick and choose songs to pump me up. Dos it's just like "Ah, this is an experience that I prefer in its entirety." But that's less complimentary than it sounds, because it means there are fewer tracks that really stand out to me, I just need to listen to the whole thing to enjoy it, whereas Uno I'll really seek out some songs. I feel the same way. The songs on Dos speak to each other much more than the songs on Uno. It's definitely a cohesive work, and, in my opinion, a great one. Dalya
There was a leak a week before and that's when a lot of people started talking about it. That's why I love leaks so much! Cob
I'm not getting butthurt about Sputnik Music hating Dos - I've been pissed off at that site for years for delivering poor quality reviews of all kinds of albums. They just have no professionality whatsoever, and can't be considered real reviewers (it's more like a cooperative blog). In the same way that The Daily Mail cannot be considered a real paper. I've hated Sputnik for years too...their reviews of Uno and Dos just make me hate them even more. They're proof of why society needs professional journalism and not just loud mouthed people with keyboards-that's what forums are for.
